Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Took my international visitors to Lovell's for lunch. Counter staff were rude enough to start with, but when we asked for dinner plates to eat our pasties from, they were plonked down in front of us. After our meal, another staff member collect the plates...from where we sat outside and lectured us about about plates being only for inside use. Contrary to her assertion, we were never informed of this 'rule'. We will not be return customers.More

Trip advisor is often my 'go to', for reviews on places to eat and on this occasion was also. We were passing through Birdwood, at lunch time, so checked out the bakery reviews. Initially I was put off by the implications of rudeness at this...bakery and we went to the other one, down the street, but they had nothing left to eat, which was disappointing indeed, so we went to Lovell's. Here was a wide range of choice, so we bought a pie each and a coffee and I also bought an apple/custard scroll. I was taken aback for a moment, by the abrupt tone of the lady serving, but I soon realized she was not meaning to be rude, it's just how she speaks, so please don't be offended. The pies were very tasty, the decore was very pleasing to the eye, the place was clean and the coffee was lovely. The scroll was not great unfortunately. It lacked filling and thus was unremarkable. The lady was actually very nice. Not everyone has the gift of the gab. All in all I enjoyed my lunch and was happy with our visit and would go again without hesitation, if we pass that way again.More

I wish Canada had bakeries as available as they do in Australia. The baked goods we had here were to die for. I had a salami salad roll and a sausage roll for a late lunch. As I said FANTASTIC is the only word I...can think best describes what I ate.More

This country bakery is on the right as you enter Birdwood from the direction of Adelaide. It sells coffee, pies, sandwiches and everything you'd expect in basically a big clean rustic shed with seats inside and out. Stopping for a quick lunch, my wife had...a toasted sandwich and I had a toasted focaccia. Both were filling. Service was friendly, costs reasonable, and there's also a small second hand shop within the bakery.More

A group of us were travelling through Mt Pleasant and stopped for coffee and a pastry and with only 1 woman serving in the shop, she managed admirably with serving the food and then following up with the coffees in very good time. Plenty of...seating outside and also some inside. Very old building and great stonework.More

A quick stop for lunch. We could not decide if we would have a sweet treat or lunch. It was past breakfast and nearer to lunch so we ordered a couple sandwiches, a hot tea and coffee. Very local clientele on first name basis. We...were obviously visitors, felt welcomed. Enjoyed our lunch and carried on with our sites for the day.More

Staff did not know what they had left in warmers. Had a chicken pie, was luke warm and still cold in the centre. My wife had a spinach and fetta pie, basically was inedible. On the base was a single slice of tomato, dry, bland...and no binding ingredient. It needed salt.More

After having a ripping vege pastie in Port Elliot, thought we would have another. Unfortunately, both the sausage roll and the veggie pastie's pastry was poor. We were already down the road, but best we let others know.

Very average food, coupled with even less than average grumpy service. Why operate an outlet like this when service and quality of product is treated as a reluctant optional?

We went here to have lunch with friends and weren’t disappointed. The sandwiches and salad rolls were beautiful - soft crusty bread and fresh fillings. There is a huge range of pies, cakes and slices. They even had our favourite - apple crumble and apricot...slice. The girls serving us were thoughtful, pleasant and helpful. Very enjoyable,More
