Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It was absolutely packed – there was a tour group in the back room (around 20 people) and no tables available inside, so we sat outside. They only had 3 staff on and were flat strap. Our coffees arrived about 25mins after ordering and they weren’t hot. They had run out of mugs and were serving them in takeaway cups. Waited over an hour for our breakfast - Poached Eggs on Sourdough – big plate with 2 lonely eggs at one end and a piece of sourdough toast at the other! Tasted OK but really wasn’t worth the wait.

Okay, let's clear up one thing: The Musical Fence Cafe is no where near the Musical Fence attraction. The cafe is in Elderslie Street and the MF Attraction is in Colston Road. Reviewers need to stop confusing the two. The Cafe is attached to the North Gregory Hotel in the main street of town. The Cafe is very handy, always seems to be open and my husband had breakfast here both mornings. We also had lunch here one day because, for some strange reason, the Bakery over the road closes at 1pm. The burger I had for lunch was generously proportioned and freshly made, although rather bland; lacking flavour. My husband had the sandwiches which were pre-made in the counter display. The Cafe was clean and nicely presented and tables were well spaced in accordance with Covid restrictions. Seems to be a popular place with locals and travellers alike. Good menu selection and reasonable prices. I've rated the Cafe as "very good" because it is in Winton; the Cafe is on a par with those in larger towns/cities.

We're not in to pub food, so the three pubs on offer didn't appeal. But this cafe offered delightful chicken-and-lettuce sandwiches, burgers of all kinds, modest hot foods and tea/coffee/soft drink/milk shakes plus a truly tantalising selection from their patisserie. And astonishingly, all reasonably priced. The staff were pleasant, efficient and welcoming, as was our meal!

Hello McCorquinn Thank you for your delightful review on our Muscal Fence Cafe which is the cafe branch of burgeoning Grand 'ol Lady with is the North Gregory Hotel. Famous for the Birthplace of Waltzing Matilda by Banjo Paterson. The cafe is prominently displayed in the main street as you know as as you said offers a great variety of food for everyone. Our staff are our asset and we are glad that you were welcomed so pleasantly . Enjoy your forward journey and we hope to see you back here some time again in the future!

We arrived at around 10.45 and ordered 2 coffees and a muffin. 20 minutes later others who arrived after us were be served cooked breakfasts. Enquired whrer our coffees were waitress took our order number and would check. 10 minutes later still no coffee despite the waitress going to check. Coffees still hadnt been started. requested refund and left. P... poor service and no apology for their stuff up.

This was our first port of call when we arrived in town, and we got such a lovely welcome. Beautiful coffee plus some great sight seeing local tips from the barista that we would never have known otherwise. Breakfast was great and they were very accommodating for our little one who also rated the babycino as ‘delicious’. Thank you so much!

It's such a shame to see this once bustling and popular cafe this time last year, go down the gurgler so badly. It used to serve the best breakfast in town, and stayed open all day. This year no breakfast and closes at mid-day..... `kitchen closed` said the uninterested young girl behind the counter.....no reason or apology given. Not even any sandwiches available, just a few stale pieces of cake in the cabinet. As a result, there were no customers in the cafe at all. Let's hope the new manager will come to the rescue.

I found this to be the best cafe in Winton as far as food and service were concerned. Also, it was always open during the whole day, unlike the other cafes in town. As mentioned, the food was excellent...lots of sandwiches and cakes of all sorts, and a very wholesome breakfast in the mornings which lasted until 10.30. The staff was always cheerful and friendly....young people from all over the world, who handled the busy periods excellently I thought. The Spanish barista made the most delicious cappuccinos and seemed to be his main job...mucho leche hombre!

Stopped in for a late breakfast whilst in town on a Saturday and was lucky to just make it before they stopped serving. It's nothing flash, though it does have a certain charm about it, but loved the breakfast and coffee. Much better than I was expecting, plus they have free WiFi, which was a nice bonus. Great service too! Very relaxing. Loved it.

My sister and I arrived just before closing time for lunch. The young man behind the counter (alone) was very patient with us and respectful towards us mature aged indecisive ladies. He was so helpful and I’m sure we were delaying his knockoff time. Anyway we did chose takeaway and it was the best ham and cheese toasty I have had in a long time! Yum, yum! If we arrived earlier I would’ve eaten inside at one of the window tables with a view of the Main Street. Over three days I tried three different cafes, and in my opinion this was the best. I don’t understand why this cafe isn’t better patronised, give it a go! And well done to that young man, thank you!

Friendly well run cafe, plenty of tables inside and out. Great snacks and the coffee ( long black in a cup) was awesome. No fluke, the second day I visited the coffee was excellent as well. The milk jug for the tea was probably biologically incorrect. See photo!

Coffee was lovely, as was the barista. Pity he was the only one working. Served customers and took orders, made coffees and ran them to the tables, all while his two colleagues stood around and picked their noses. He asked one for help and was turned down and given attitude. I know there aren’t a lot of options for employees in small towns, but surely there is someone in Winton who would do a better job than these two ladies. Lucky it was the only place open on a Sunday morning, it’s the only way this place would make money. Could be so much better.

Good quality food, you get what you pay for. We had the steak burger, very messy but delicious, really good chips. Friendly staff. If you want lunch don't arrive any earlier than 12. We arrived at 11:55 and told the kitchen doesn't open until 12 and would have to wait or come back to order. If you want somthing fast not the place to go. Would recommend and come again when in town for a more leisurely visit.

Called in here on our last morning before our drive back to Longreach. It is attached to the North Gregory Hotel. The staff were friendly and efficient and we enjoyed our choices, Scrambled eggs and bacon and Jewish Shiak Shulka. A surprise addition to the menu which was very tasty.

After the dissapointing and non existent food experience in Longreach, this place is just heavenly. The staff are so welcoming professional and ready to do anything for the customer. The menu is very diverse, prices are reasonable and the food is great. The experience really made our day. If you are going through Winton, make sure not to miss it.
