This week we spent 4 days in the Southern Downs. On Thursday we decided to visit Stanthorpe - Cafe77 surprised us in so many ways (small family run business with an emphasis on country style hospitality).
For morning tea we ordered flat white (in the largest mug I have ever seen) along with tea and a slice of their famous carrot cake (you could share or have a slice on your own).
Service was fantastic - very friendly and welcoming.
Prices very reasonable for country cafe

Breakfast and coffee was excellent when it came. the eggs came out nicely poached and the bacon was cooked well. It was really good coffee.
We had booked a table and we got in, we were lucky to get a table as they hadn't reserved one as booked.
In trying to order 2 bacon and eggs breakfast and coffee and a pot of tea, the young waitress messed this up. When trying to fix it, they were getting flustered and made it worse. Finally we got there after 5 minutes of myself trying to calm the young lady down as she was getting upset as they were busy and the looked under the pump.
The bacon and eggs as said before was really nice.
However, in listening to 2 table near us, they messed up orders, missed things off the tables and bought food out in a really untimely manner.
It looked like they needed more staff. Food and coffee was good.

This locally owned cafe surprises on many levels. First (and most important) is the coffee experience. These people know how to deliver top class coffee, equal to anything in the capital cities. The food on offer is very good too. Then there's the range of pastries made on-site which includes gluten free options. They are excellent quality and value. Finally, the ambience is very modern and says "we are serious about our coffee and food". The only thing that does not surprise is the friendly nature of the staff - they are typically friendly and courteous regional Queenslanders.

On a recent overnight visit to Stanthorpe, we called in to this cafe as the pub next door had finished lunch service. Wish we hadn't bothered. We got the beef chilli burger & the satay chicken burger. The chilli burger patties were so overcooked & smothered with chilli sauce. The satay chicken burger was also overcooked (burnt) & again smothered with sauce. Not only a mess to eat but not nice at all. I suggest the burger maker taste their own creations before feeding this to customers. Would not recommend sorry.

My husband, son and I stopped here for lunch on our way to Ballandean. At the time we ordered our meals there were only 2 other customers occupying a table in the cafe. My son's meal arrived quickly, however we had a long, long wait for our meals. Three more tables became occupied with customers, who all received their meals before us. Finally my husband went to counter to enquire where our meals were, where he received a mumbled response from woman about checking in the kitchen and meals being almost ready. After a few more minutes I got my meal, but husband had to go to counter again to chase up his meal. We ordered a chicken toastie and calamari & chips, not too difficult an order! The staff who took our orders were the wait staff as well, so I think the most disappointing thing is that at no time did anyone check on us regarding our meals, or let us know there could be a delay or apologise at any stage. Shame because the food was tasty, just the service was totally dismal.

Longest wait for coffee ever! We arrived at 2.20pm with 3 tables occupied and ordered 3 cups of coffee, desperate for a caffeine fix. After 20 minutes wait & seeing later food orders served we enquired about the delay, after 30mins we asked for takeaway cups instead of dine in and eventually 39 minutes after entering the cafe we got our coffees. It wasn't peak hour and it wasn't that busy when we ordered so there was no excuse.

We arrived in Stanthorpe a little late on a Sunday, and saw this cafe open. Very good cafe very clean and a very good eating area.
The staff assistant was extremely friendly and helpful, handing us a menu and showed us to a table. I decided to order the Hamburger with the lot and my wife had the fish and salad. We saw teriyaki chips, so we thought we would try them. The burger was huge, also the Grilled fish and salad was a very good serving. The food tasted fresh and very well cooked. And definitely try the teriyaki Chips very yummy. We will absolutely go here again.

I walked into this Cafe, asked if they had ready made sandwiches for takeaway, the young lady pointed to the fridge and said Yes. I asked if they made them fresh on the premises, she looked at her boss (owner) who was close by making coffees and he said "yes we do make them here." I purchased said sandwiches only to find out later (after reading the packet) they were made by "The Handmade Food Co" in Lawnton, Brisbane. Why the owner felt he needed to lie is beyond me. I will eat else where in the future.

I have been called a lot of things but dishonest is definitely not one. You came at the only time we happened to have premade sandwiches that you would see in a Servo that were delivered to our shop by accident and the provider said just sell them and you got one lol we in ten years being here in this little Cafe77 have always used local breads produce to create fresh products and have never had a premade ones. So I guess unlucky for you and unlucky for me.
And by habit I guess juniors probably would have told you we make our sandwiches and we actually would have been more than happy to create you any sandwiches you would have desired. So we apologise for the unfortunate misunderstanding and hope you come one day to try one of our real Sanger’s lol sorry mate Regards Tammy

There were few restaurants open on a Sunday morning, so this restaurant was very busy. We were seated served very quickly while locals waited for their takeaway coffees.
The food delivered to our table was excellent. It is the sort of venue where you could turn up for breakfast day after day.

Lunch was so good we went back the next day for breakfast. Delicious bacon and egg burger for lunch which was a generous size and washed down with a butterscotch milkshake-yum! The breakfast menu says crunchy toast and it was, happy days. Super friendly staff too. Only negative, it’s noisy when busy.

After a massive hike in Girraween National Park all a girl needs is chips and gravy! Best chips, gravy & a dagwood dog! Huge huge coffees.
Super speedy service. Friendly staff.

This is a great coffee place, the food is delicious and coffee is great. Plenty to choose from & plus they have a special of toasted sandwich & coffee for $10. The service is great and staff very friendly and prompt service. Good meeting place as well

Two of had the calamari salad when another couple ordered the ham and cheese toastie special. Very friendly service and the calamari salad was a generous portion. Thick bread for the toastie, very good coffe and orange juice. The berry frappe was disappointing , 50% ice.

Booked ahead for Fathers Day and enjoyed a wonderful selection of breakfast menu options. Everyone was pleased with their choices and also the quality and serving size of the coffee. Definitely on our list when we next visit Stanthorpe. Thank you

I ordered the big burger. Big is an understatement. Came with a side of hot potatoes chips (fries). Fresh produce, local sourced, great beef, fresh bun. Perfectly cooked. Service was friendly and quick. I will return on my next trip through Stanthorpe.
