Ginger serves superb Japanese food, and we will go back any time we're staying in the area. Everything we had was excellent, from the chicken teriyaki to the sushi to the garden salad. All respect to the operators for maintaining such high standards.

This place was recommended to us by friends who accompanied us to the restaurant. On our first visit there were eight of us. The food was so good, the prices reasonable and service so friendly that we came back the following evening. On our second visit there was only six of us and even though they had less staff on than the previous evening and the restaurant was full, the service was very still very friendly. Understandably we waited a bit longer for our dishes on the second evening but this did not adversely impact on the enjoyment of the evening.
The menu had two special degustation menus, one for $35 per person for seven dishes, including miso soup and dessert, plus Japanese tea and a second for $55 per person for nine dishes, including miso soup and dessert, plus Japanese tea. On both occasions we chose dishes from the quite extensive a la carte menu, that included a good number of noodle, sashimi and sushi options.
We shared a number of different starters and entrees including, sashimi, edamame, Dengaku eggplant, Pork Gyoza, sushi rolls, Octopus balls and Aburi scallops. All good. We each had our own main. I chose the Kakuni (slow cooked pork belly) on the first evening and the Wagyu beef Teriyaki on the second night. Both of these dishes were fairly large and came with rice and a small salad.
We brought our own wine - corkage was $2-00 per person.
Service as previously stated was vey friendly.
Recommended.

We had a great night at Ginger with our friends. We shared 3 dishes & an entree & the food was fresh, delicious & plentiful.
The pricing was unbelievably good.
We brought our own wine, but their beverage prices are very affordable.
Service was always with a smile.
We hope to get back to Ginger soon.

Dined as a family with 3 young children 7-8yrs. Food was delicious and enjoyed by all. Service was super and friendly. Mid range prices but happy to pay for made to order food that did not disappoint. Meals come out as they are prepared so don’t expect to all eat at the same time, this was no issue with us as we were all trying each dish. To avoid disappoint, book in advance. 2 nights we attempted were booked out.

We booked this restaurant recently for 19 people, on a week-night. This is a good Japanese Restaurant and I have been here before. On this occasion most of the people in our group were waiting for over 1 hour before we got our food, This is not acceptable. The restaurant was about three-quarters full, and there were only two chefs and two waitresses working. The meals, when they eventually arrived were very good, and it is a real shame that the poor service let us down. i complained to the staff when paying the Bill and was told that the owner of the restaurant refused to put on an extra Chef on this day. We booked our table for 6.30pm and it was well after 8.00 pm before we got our meals. Most of the people were were very disappointed. The air conditioning also was not cooling the place down, which made matters worse..
Will not be returning anytime soon.

Ginger is one of our favourite local restaurants and we visit often. It is always difficult to choose what to have as everything is fresh and delicious, we have never been disappointed with our meals. Staff are very friendly and efficient and BYO wine is a bonus.

Ginger is one of these unassuming places you ignore, until you happen to try it - which we did last night. A very minimal decor, but good menu, both for food and drinks. We arrived late and were told the sushi bar had closed ; but that's OK, there's plenty other dishes to choose from. We ordered salmon/rice and a curry udon noodles with wagyu beef. Both arrived quickly and were delicious.
We will come back soon to try the rest.

Ginger’s was full which is always a good sign and it is BYO wine which I like. Enjoying a glass of red while we waited for our very good value for money dishes to arrive was delightful. I ordered the Japanese chicken curry and it was delivered in a large white bowl. Served with rice and salad on the side, it was delicious, fresh and huge for only $22. Even the entrees that others ordered were very generous in size and reasonable prices. I hIghly recommend Gingers Japanese Restaurant.

Had dinner here on Saturday night. First stop was the carpark overlooking the beach at Maroochy Surf Club for a glass of champagne to watch the full moon rise. We booked as a group of 4 for 7.30pm. We were greeted and shown to our table by the friendly wait staff. They did advise when booking to bring wine as they do beer and sake. The restrauant was full but the noise level not to bad. The food was great as was the staff and service. We had veggie gyoza, soft shell crab sushi, Pop pop chicken, tofu and rice for 4 of us - good size serves and cost us $22 a head. Table for 4 was a good size, didn't really take in the decor as we were chatting. Can sit inside and outside. Did notice that they do takeaway as people were coming in to collect orders. The restrauant was busy but we did not feel like service took to long. We were very happy with service, food and price. Great casual dining.

Ginger is popular and it represents good value for money. The food however on the time we were there lacked finesse, we started with sashimi which was fresh but in larger chunks than typical, the Teriyaki Salmon was particularly fatty piece and the teriyaki didn't through it enough. The Beef Teriyaki was pronounced to be tasty and tender. BYO was a generous $ 2 per person.

Amazing food. Highly recommend.
We had a variety of food including Gyozas, sushi, spring rolls, Bao buns, pulled pork and teriyaki chicken.
Every meal was delicious and all the meat was cooked to perfection!
Only downside was we had to ask 3 times for the aircon to be put on as they kept ignoring that request, everything else was perfect.

We were staying straight across the road at the Catalina resort! After reviewing restaurants in the area we booked in for dinner! What an experience, some of the best food we had on our 2 week holiday from far North Queensland to Brisbane! We had the pork gyoza for entree. We then had the tune and avocado sushi roll and teriyaki wagyu beef which was amazing! Service was quick and food amazing!

I had taken a few photos nearby and felt peckish . I was surprised to find Ginger with a table of two and then me . . Maybe people have forgotten the joys of having chefs cook for them . I had expected crowds at any open restaurant . I seem to regularly get things wrong . I love the GT Salmon and decided to also try octopus Kraange . . I really like the Sake selection . Very rare on the coast and the Suntory beer , which is one of the best around . I like my visits to this restaurant .

Having been to Japan and experienced the food first hand, this restaurant is the best experience on the Sunshine Coast I have had. The mains are amazing - I had the slow cooked pork and my wife had the Teriyaki chicken. Both were melt in your mouth tender and flavourful. As an added bonus they sell my favourite Japanese beer - Suntory Premium Malts. 100% recommend Ginger Japanese Restaurant - just make sure you book in advance!

We ate here last night, because we could not get in the night before. The food was cooked differently to what we get in Sydney and I loved it. Scallops to start, vegetable pancake, teriyaki chicken and soft shell crab. The restaurant was full and the service was good and the waitstaff very friendly. We will be back while we are here on holidays!
