About
Emerald Creek Ice Creamery manufactures premium ICE CREAM made from full cream milk and pure cream, as well as SORBET (dairy free) using fresh fruit grown here on the Tablelands. We also manufacture our own divine fresh FUDGE. Recently, we introduced a line of JAMS made here at the ice-creamery. And for those who prefer a savoury snack, try our BILTONG - just like beef jerky only better! In our restaurant you can indulge in banana splits, home made waffles, home-made apple pies, Devonshire Teas (home made sweet and savory scones available) sandwiches/toasties, ploughmans board , iced-coffees, milkshakes, a hot Jaques coffee and a whole lot more. Alternatively, enjoy a cone/cup of ice-cream or sorbet - we have 38 flavours on display at any one time and up to 50 flavours to chose from if you wish to take a 1 liter tub. Our gardens are fully fenced with acres of lawn for children to enjoy as well as supporting easy disability access. We also have a range of local products/giftware.

My first time back there since before the Lockdown, and we weren't disappointed. Under $40 for a really lovely morning tea for 4 - Devonshire teas for 2, Devonshire coffee for one, and a truly scrumptious Iced Coffee made up with their in-house Almond Nougat gelato for me! Best scones I've seen in many years and they're not mean with the serve. Their Cinnamon gelato is brilliant, too.....( I snuck back inside to score a cup of it while the others were still scone-scoffing....SHHHHHHHH!).... worth the trip out there on its own.

With a minimum of 15km to the nearest population, one might wonder how the ice creamery prospers? Easy. The ice cream is great, the sorbet better, parking plentiful and the staff welcoming. It's about 45minutes from Cairns airport and just nice to take a break and slow down to Tablelands pace.

It's quite small but what they offer is worth going there for. We actually arrived only 15 minutes before closing & they were more than welcome to sell us some ice cream & have a nice chat even though we were the only customers in the store, although the cafe section with the kitchen was closed at that time but we didn't mind. Every flavour we tried between the 3 of us in the car was delicious, and the fudge looked good too. It's on the road between Kuranda & Mareeba so it's an easy stopover if you're driving around, and worth a detour from Kuranda if you're up for a nice drive.

Yummy ice cream on a hot day. Family owned business however we didn’t find them welcoming at all. Very straight up and no caring / kind attitude. It’s a shame, you would think being a family Business the service would be way better especially during covid when people are out spending their money in their ice creamery. We don’t remember them being this rude last visit. Service makes it breaks a shop.

After been told by Cairns visitor information centre this was a must visit for ice cream to die for. They advertise something like 42 flavours but there was only about 18 on display. No real chunks of goodness (strawberries or chocolate or caramel) only flavoured ice cream. Coles and Woolies have a better selection and flavours. Disappointed after the hype.

Hi SCQld, Just to clarify, we do not advertise that 42 flavours are available to chose from all the time. The Ice-creamery makes a selection of 40 flavors, 21 of which are out on display on any given day (which is the capacity of our display freezers). Flavors rotate every few days. Our ice-cream is made with pure cream and full cream milk whilst sorbets are choc full of local fruit. Many of our flavors are smooth in consistency specifically because we have a very high visitation rate of elderly customers and children - both of whom don't necessarily like chunky bits in their food. Nevertheless the are range of flavours that have yummy bits to chew, such as Macadamia & Caramel, Salted Caramel Nut etc. Regards S. Wilson

Mid-way between Mareeba and Kuranda, this is a popular destination as it always seem busy. Covid meant numbers indoor ere limited. They have a good selection of tasty ice creams which are reasonably priced. Worth a stop if passing by.

We always judge ice cream on how fast it melts. The faster it melts the less cream tends to be in it. First time in a very long time we didnt end up with sticky fingers and drips of ice cream on ourselves. Some interesting flavours, and very creamy . We went with the larger cone as it tends to stay crunchy longer. Sadly we were not advised it would have 2 scoops or we would have chosen 2 different flavours . If we lived locally we would definitely return.

Good ice cream but not great. The raisins in the rum and raisin flavor tasted and had the same texture as dried sultanas right out of the box. We had better ice cream in QLD (even on this trip) That said, it’s a good place to stop

A bit out of the way, but the ice-cream was nice and the store was very popular, lots of people were inside visiting. I had rum and raisin flavour which was tasty, nice on a hot day to cool off. They did have a little gift shop section to browse through as well.

If there is one thing I love, it is icecream. Visiting Emerald Creek Ice creamery was on the top of my must do list and I was not disappointed. Too many flavours to choose from so my husband and I ordered 3 scoops in a cup each. I ordered Coconut, Liquorice and Ginger and I was in 7th heaven with all 3. Husband ordered Chocolate, Baileys and Macadamia and was disappointed in the Baileys but managed to get it down anyway. Staff were nice and there is a decent gift shop selling local foods and souvenirs. I could not stop thinking about the Liquorice ice cream so we went back for more a week later on our way to Cairns.

Family run business, looked like 3 generations all working that day. Lovely to see actually. Yummy ice creams with plenty of flavors to choose from. Was very busy, but still heaps of tables & chairs & plenty of parking on site. Wasn’t expensive, $16 for 4 ice creams is fairly good I think. Highly recommend a visit here.

I've dropped in here 3 times. Beautifully clean establishment. Lovely friendly service from the very approachable staff. There is a good range of icecream and I can honestly say that the ones I've had were delicious. I also buy my honey there as it is sourced locally. I will keep coming back here. Recommended.

Well worth visiting if you are in this part of the world, has the best icecream and sorbet I have ever tasted (and I've been a lot of places in the world, including Italy!). Also has good biltong, fudge, and coffee. Highly recommend!

You can sit inside or outside. They have the most delicious flavours. Today I tried the Wattle Seed ice cream. A single scoop in the waffle cone. My biggest regret is not buying a take home tub. I will def be back again for more.
