Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were able to be seated, with our accompanying dog, on a lovely shady outside table. In our opinion it gave the best view of the vista and Glasshouse Mountains. It was very peaceful. We were greeted by a very friendly waitress dressed in traditional...Bavarian dress. The food was delicious! So tasty! The two waitresses who served us were excellent. The toilets were very clean.More

Went to King Ludwigs for an Oktoberfest night. Fantastic! Awesome views of the Glasshouse Mountains, heaps of entertainment, good food, good beer, probably 75% of people dressed up for the event (>60 people by the look). We'll be making this an annual pilgrimage.

Unfortunately the decline in dining experience since my previous visit, prior to the change of ownership, is quite large which is such a shame on many levels - was very excited to be returning to revisit the same high standard of Bavarian food on offer...but unfortunately was left with a very different experience altogether. I’ve read quite a few reviews mentioning the ‘saltiness’ of the food - unfortunately this is very accurate. I was astounded at just how salty (to a very unpleasant level) it was! The pretzel - beautifully hot and soft - salt level, extreme! The “dip” - tasty, salt level - extreme! I ordered the Bavarian Meatloaf which came topped with a fried egg with potato salad - the meatloaf was served barely luke-warm at best and resembled a large square slice of spam and the potatoes used in the salad could have done with at least another 5 minutes on the stovetop as they had a rather unpleasant / undercooked crunch to them - such a shame as it was all presented nicely on the plate. Also - saltiness, again was up there! My elderly mum ordered the Currywurst - smelled beautiful when it arrived at the table, however curry powder generally gets stirred into sauce, not just sprinkled on top of the frankfurt! Made for a very unpleasant taste on the palate. Same issue with both being served ‘luke warm’ and the potato salad - undercooked and rather unpleasant. Also the saltiness - up there again. We didn’t bother with desert even though we saw some lovely options going to another table - just were very disappointed with our lunch mains. The menu has dramatically decreased since last visit and I hate to say that the prices don’t really match what is put on the plate, maybe it was just an ‘off day’ in the kitchen but it certainly wasn’t busy during our meal (many empty tables). Maybe lunch doesn’t have as much focus placed on it as what dinners do? I’m sure there will be many more positive reviews by customers in the future however our experience was really not one of those at all - had such high expectations for yet another amazing Bavarian meal but unfortunately we won’t be returning as it has really appears to have gone downhill since change over - such a shameMore

Think at last we have found the European restaurant on the Sunshine Coast we have been looking for. Had a very nice lunch there today. The goulash with dumpling and red cabbage was delicious. We also enjoyed the view of the mountains. We will be...back.More

My partner and I had dinner here for our date night on a Saturday night in April. The service was A1 - we were very impressed 😊 Prior to coming I checked out the reviews but they really didn’t reflect our experience here; - the...food was cooked authentically (just as I had expected .. they have the same chef as the previous owners). I had the Pork Knuckle and my partner had the Jägerschnitzel - the new owner John (and his service team) were friendly and efficient (and this was a very busy night) - the selection of beers rocked my world and I went home with a big smile on my face 😄 and they even told me where I can order these German beers online! My partner was designated driver this time but we are coming back .. they had a selection of Spirits/Schnapps, Wines, Ciders and Cocktails for those who like something other than Beer!) Thanks John and the King Ludwig’s team! I’ll be telling my friends and bringing them up for lunch next time - looking to book a table outside with that magnificent view! Prost 🍻More

A return visit for us since pre COVID and although menu choices were limited enjoyed our lunch on the deck. Food was good and service friendly and efficient. A reasonable expensive outing and the venue would not appeal to budget conscious diners.

We’re devastated that this restaurant has changed hands again and is now a very poor version of its former self. Only the lovely view & the beer selection remain. We have been coming here for 13 years and will not come again. The food is...no longer loved and delicious, the wait staff are keen but inexperienced. Such a shame.More

I had pork medallions with spatzle. The pork was dry, spatzle was rice sized and over salted. Pretzel with cheese dip was pretzel with cream cheese. Not a dip. We have been to king Ludwig’s in the past and we’re so excited to be attending...again for our anniversary. We stayed close by do we could enjoy the meal and evening. Did not even ask yo see desert menu. So disappointed. Not offered any water, meal was so over salted I was dying of thirst. I asked for a wine with a glass of ice and was given a glass of ice topped with wine. Will not go back.More

Sunday Linch. Friendly and great service but food was poor. German sausages and sides lacked flavour. Apple Strudel was microwaved. Not value for money.

Poor service, overpriced and inauthentic food in a great location. I visited about 18 months ago and it was excellent. This time the menu is limited and very expensive. The sausages are not much better than hot dogs and soooo overpriced! The beers are excellent...but there really isn’t anything to recommend in the menu. Pretty poor example of German cooking. Sad to see it go downhill like that.More

We wanted a German meal so booked a table for three. We were not disappointed. Fabulous service in a very authentic setting. Tables inside and out. Spectacular views. It is a limited but excellent menu. They offered a specials menu on the day. We opted...for the selection os sausages and then shared the apple strudel and a black forest cake. Delicious food, fresh ingredients, large size meals. This restaurant is not cheap so go on a special occasion and have a lot of fun. Highly recommended.More

Decided on a lunch at King Ludwig’s after a walk through Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve and we weren’t disappointed. We were a bit early so had a drink in the bar which gave us plenty of time to review the extensive (and well priced) range...of German beers on offer. Our table was on the veranda which has great views over the glasshouse mountains and the food was equally stunning. The pork hock was the winner with super crispy crackling and succulent meat with sauerkraut, beer and gravy onion and a dumpling. We followed this with the sticky toffee pudding which wasn’t really needed but when is a dessert ever needed. Great food, great foods, great beer and great views what more do you need. Highly recommendedMore

Traditional german food and we all loved it, a little pricey but the staff were just great. Pork Knuckle is the go...to and try the beer tasting plate. Certainly worth a visit 👍More
