Not the best Italian food

Pizza base was outstanding the topping had some strange flavours for a Moroccan Pizza. The other meal was average at best. The gin we ordered tasted nothing like gin. Luckily we were not charge for that drink when paying. This place needs to step up a gear to warrant us paying another visit.

Never quite hits the mark for us.

Dinner for two on a warm summers night. We order steak dishes. Hers she enjoyed, mine was tasteless and finished up in a doggy bag for the cat. The calimari we shared for a starter was high in quantity but less in quality. We are living in the Maleny area for almost 9 years and every 18 months or so we venture to Capriccios to see if they have finally got it right. Never quite happened yet. We are sure with a bit more effort they could improve. Gob smacked that some reviewers think that this is great Italian food! Given it a 3 of 5 whereas it is more a 2.5, but there you go.

We had dinner here on our last night in Maleny. We had the spinach and ricotta ravioli and the chicken with garlic and mushroom sauce. Both were not bad, the sauce was tasty. The pasta maybe overcooked... Definitely not al dente. The after dinner mint at the end was a nice touch.

We picked to eat here on a recent weekend away , the reviews were mixed so we thought we would give it a go .. My wife is gluten free and she ate 3 bites of her Hawaiian pizza and threw the rest in the bin . Myself ordered the equivalent to a supreme pizza this also was very disappointing , it was well under cooked both top and bottom of the pizza , there was so much raw white onion it was not - edible last but not least there was so much herbs just sprinkled on top it over powered any taste of any of the pizza , again did not even complete 1 slice before the rest was thrown away . We rang to mention to the owners how bad this was but the young girl on the phone just took my details down and no return call was made . $60 wasted with not even a sorry about the issue from the store . I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone based off my experience Out order was on 26/10/2024

Nice staff , food poor and badly run

To begin, I ordered a steak rare. It came out well doneindeed overcooked but with a nice sauce, I felt guilty sending it back but, rare is rare. It then took over half an hour to get another. My son had ordered tortellini which was swimming in so much butter and oil you couldn't taste anything else and felt like it had been reheated. He then had to sit and wait for ages while I picked at my chips as they got cold. Eventually steak came back out, as we were about to leave. Cooked rare as requested but with some strange watery onion and tomato sauce over the top which was definitely nothing like the original sauce ( no onions), I tipped it off and ate the steak. To be fair, they then gave us a big discount without us having asked or complained, which was a nice touch, but food was pretty awful I think chefs have no idea what they are doing. I saw pizzas going past that looked pretty burnt. I have not been that disappointed in a meal out since I can remember. Wait staff were friendly and nice.

We've been returning to this restaurant for years and I have previously given it good reviews but never again. There are new owners and they obviously have no idea how to serve up good food. Garlic bread - very dry due to no where near enough butter and very little garlic taste. We both ordered pasta mains and they tasted like cheap frozen meals micro-waved; and the meals were COLD. I don't allege they were micro-waved meals but that's how bad they were. Actually, ALDI does some frozen spaghetti meals that are better than what we were served. Neither of us finished our meals. It started off badly when we walked in and the guy who appears to be the person in charge looked at us and then turned his back on us and walked away. "Good evening" would have been nice. We ordered drinks to arrive with our meals but that that never happened despite 2 servers promising us they would get them. The price of their wines is exorbitant. I'd give the place zero stars if I could. For your own sake, don't eat here.

Having read the mixed reviews, we thought it can't be that bad. It was. The pizza was near burnt, on a shopbought base (not handmade as the menu states), and piled high with toppings with an excess of processed ham. The seafood pasta was passable. Staff were friendly. While I accept that a small town may not excel in authentic Italian cuisine, this was so far from Italian or even decent food. I never like to leave a poor review, but a bit more effort with ingredients and cooking would make the difference.

Was in Maleny for a few days , ordered the Lasagne and small meat lovers Pizza. The Lasagne was a small portion did not fill the takeaway container and was burnt and tasteless. The Pizza was also burnt around the edges of the base , overall for $40 a waste of money.

Fabulous dinner and wildlife experience!

One of the best meals on our holiday vacation in Australia! The Cesar salad, Veggie Pizza and Tortellini was all very unique and we couldn’t decide which we liked best! To top it off, a great wildlife show with fruit bats flying in and Platypus Creek was active as well! Truly a great dinner experience at dusk!

Hmmm called up to order, was told 40 mins as they were busy ( that was fine, busy is busy can’t expect miracles) I we arrived there 15mins later than the time we were told and still had to wait, approaching 1 hr and watching locals order and get there food incredibly quick and walk passed, was very rude. Food was ok, spicy wedges were lacking the spice. And the Italian salad was just 3 different types of lettuce, 8 pieces of onion, 2 olives 3 sliced cherry tomatoes a piece of cucumber and a piece of reddish. Very disappointed

Not authentic Italian

We were in Maleny for a weekend and were looking for somewhere to have dinner on the Sunday night. Given that a lot of places close early on a Sunday, there weren’t many options so we thought we’d go for Italian. How bad could it be, right? The service wasn’t too bad although we did have to wait a while for someone to come and take our order. Once the order was taken it didn’t take too long to get our food. Sadly it just wasn’t that nice. The garlic bread was just your ordinary run of the mill garlic bread and our pastas weren’t much better. It’s definitely not authentic Italia (carbonara does not have cream in it). Whilst we had different dishes, looking at them you would think they were the same sauces but with different pastas - my husbands tortellini looked just like a Latina Fresh pasta. Nothing homemade here. Whilst we didn’t have pizza, the elderly gentleman sitting at the table over from us was loving his so perhaps that was our mistake by not ordering a pizza but when we walked in there was a whole heap of pre-cooked pizza bases (the kind you would buy in a supermarket) all over the bench behind the counter so they don’t make their bases from scratch either - store bought pizza bases to go with the store bought pasta and garlic bread. It was all too disappointing and would not risk giving them a second chance if I found myself in Maleny again. If you love your authentic Italian, give this place a miss.

Great food, terrible service

Had a booking for 6.30pm and we all arrived on time. By 7.15, all we had on the table was a bottle of water, but no glasses to drink it and our order had not been taken. Half an hour after ordering, the drinks arrived, but we were then told that one of the beers wasn’t available. We’d finished our drinks before any food arrived and the second round of drinks came as we were finishing our meals. Food was excellent. Delicious and good sized servings. People at our table had 2 different types of ravioli, lasagne and pork scallopini. After another half hour with dirty plates still sitting on our table, we enquired about desserts, only to be told that the kitchen had closed! Such a pity that the great food was spoiled by the terrible service. Having said that, the waitresses were friendly, when they did come to our table.

Tried this place despite the bad reviews and was surprised. Nice fluffy pizzas bases and lots of toppings. i really enjoyed the lamb pizza i got and my hubby was happy with his pasta too. The wait staff were quick with our orders and drinks though we came on a weekday night. Didn’t get a chance to try their dessert this time as the serving sizes are large, but we’ll definitely be back! Thanks Cappriccios

The cherry on top!

New to the area, we weren't sure where to go after a hike with the family... We stumbled across this hidden gem and they really put the cherry on top of our wonderful day. What a delish lunch... friendly service, authentic italian, relaxed atmosphere, fantastic wine selection, great value for money, family friendly... the owner even let my daughter feed the gold fish in their pond, which totally made her day. We loved every bit of our lunch experience at Cappriccios. Great vibes!

Unfortunately we did not enjoy our night here at all. We had multiple problems during the night and we were there for both an anniversary and birthday so needless to say, it wasn’t a great celebration. Waiting for over an hour to receive our main course only to receive the pizza cold. Upon making mention of this to the staff member, they replied “I’m pretty sure it came out hot...”. Unwilling to accept any responsibility nor receive an apology. We went here over 12 months ago and had a blast, great food and great service. Now, we had the total opposite experience and we can see other people disappointed also. Wouldn’t recommend sorry.
