A good all rounder.

After traveling western queensland for the last week, we have eaten at many cafes and restaurants and the Emerald Star Hotel Bistro is at the top of the list for quality and value for money. The battered prawns were cripsy on the outside and tender to the bite, just the way you want prawns. Delicious! The rump steak was thoroughly enhoyable at a good price point. It was tender and rivalled steak that we have paid much more for. The battered fish and chips was yummy too. It included a nice little salad that was fresh, and the aioli was creamy and flavourful. More importantly, the staff were friendly and accomodating. A new staff member was on trial in the bar and she did a great job with the assistance of the efficient bar manager. Couldn't fault anything in this bistro. The covid safe measures were excellent. This was the only place we visited that followed all the rules, from no straws to placing condiments on the table only after we sat down. Every other place offered drinking straws. I did my research and found they are absolutley on the ball with that. Thanks Emerald Star for being a great place to eat and a covid safe place to dine out. I would thoroughly reccommend the bistro to other travellers.

We had dinner here this evening after being recommended by the motel where we are staying. On arrival we were warmly greeted by Torrent, who made us feel welcome. The menu was not overwhelming but nicely varied and very reasonably priced. My wife had a vegetarian yellow curry while I had the Graziers meat pie with onion rings. Both were well presented and flavoursome. Thankfully we made room for dessert, warm sticky date and and chocolate moose mud cake. We must make comment on the warmth of the welcome by all the staff members we interacted with, in particular Torrent and Joe. Thanks so much for helping make our dinner so great.

The staff here make the place!

Had dinner here, food and drink is good (highly recommend the toblerone cocktail), but the staff are the standout, from Dave welcoming with a smile, to the attentive barstaff, they made the visit. My graziers pie was tasty, and I'm not sure what the next table had but it smelled devine. There were a lot of local families dining, as well as travellers, which is a good indication of food quality. Menu had a good variety, as did the bar. Covid procedure was followed precisely, and they have the me&u app so you don't even have to leave your table to order your food and drinks. Good recommendation.

After travelling Longreach, Winton etc. and eating in a variety of different pubs,Clubs,cafes etc. I cannot tell you how great it was to have such a great experience from the minute we walked in the door!! All Covid regulations fulfilled we went to our table, the Staff we encountered were just so professional!! We were made to feel they were genuinely pleased to see us (unlike some places out West) and our Seniors Meal was absolutely excellent, just melt in your mouth steak. Well done The Star and thankyou to the awesome staff.

Disappointing or are we just too old

What has happened, how hard is it to get dinner without a phone and QR code. Went to this Hotel picked out our meal but because I did not take my phone, as it needed charging could not order our meal. Went to the main bar and the gentlemen took my order because it was off the menus but husband meal was a Chiefs Special it had to be done with the code on table left . No help from staff at all 😡😡😡

We do have several specials that are only available from our online ordering, but the rest of the delicious menu is available to order over the bar. Food here was fine, had chicken snitzel with garlic prawns tasty veg was potato mash and mixed veg all nicely cooked, partner had steak rare well cooked and tender. Beer here was awful and after telling management there was no apology and no action taken, we left. No use drinking bad beer.

Lovely, friendly staff. Nice clean place with some great menu choices. I had really good fish and chips, a glass of wine and a pudding to finish. The only negative for me was the ordering system, using the QR code. I like that option as its quick and easy, no queuing to get your dinner. I would appreciate however some options when you order. For example I don't like dressing on my salad or cream with my pudding but I couldn't make that note on the App.

Excellent Meal

Enjoyed a great dinner at this hotel.. We had the lamb rissoles, served with vegetables and mash. The place was full on a Thursday night. Good staff and a full bar with everything you might desire.

Friendly staff, great food

Good pub choices at a decent price. We’re had the Caesar salad and lamb sausages which was the chefs special of the day. Very tasty, fresh and served as quickly as appropriate

Main course arrived before I had finished my entree. I had requested my $42 steak to be medium rare but it was very well done. I don't recommend this establishment.

Nice food

I was staying in Emerald for just one night and the hotel I was staying at recommended this place for dinner. It must get quite busy but I was able to get a table. I had the Korma Lamb Shank and it was quite nice.

Nice grub

We went for dinner on a very busy night, the atmosphere in the restaurant was first class with a mix of families and couples. To order your food and drink was over complicated, you had to use phones qr codes. What really annoyed me was as we are from overseas my bank charged me for coverting Aud to £ and then charged me for the privilege using my card. None of the waiting staff told us I didn't HAVE to use my card, I could have paid by good old fashioned cash. The food was delicious plentiful and fairly priced.
