Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The choice and quality of the menu was outstanding and the drinks choice was superb too. Clem, the French chef produced dishes of the very highest quality that you would expect in the top restaurants of the world. I would definitely recommend eating at Tides...even if you are not staying at the beach house but make sure Clem is the chef when you visit.More

In the trees at the north end of Cap Tribulation beach - great little place. We arrived in the midst of a tour group frenzy but they were happy to accommodate us. Our meals arrived much quicker than we expected and were advised given two...tour buses arrived around the same time with a third not long after. Food was light pub fare, fresh and tasty and enjoyed by all. Service was excellent. Setting brilliant - midst of the forest. Lesson for other operators delivered by this place - under commit and over deliver and you’ll have very happy customers. Bonus was the metre long Goanna that wondered by while we were having lunch.More

Sara helped us with the food and I have to admit that it was the best food we have eaten thus far in our last 10 days in Australia. Be it the chicken bowl, salmon or the grilled kangaroo.. it was just marvellous.. and to...top it all the mango macadamia cheese cake is probably the best cheese cake we have eaten .. beautiful location .. amazing staff .. must must must visitMore

Staff were great. Food was about average good pub food. Ok but not fantastic. But we are in the cape and I don’t think that there would be better

I recently had dinner here upon the recommendation of my B&B down the road. The location is beautiful and I enjoyed a nice stroll on the beach before dinner. For dinner, I chose the kangaroo steak and had calamari appetizer, with a local Shiraz. The...staff were very friendly and the food was excellent!More

Perhaps the chefs/cooks think Vegan is the name of a difficult bloke from Asia Minor and Vegetarian is an Italian from Linguini Italy. Accept and tolerate very bad bland food. That was our lesson.

We really enjoyed our meal here. The service was good and the food really tasty. There was a slight problem with bugs but I suppose it is the rain forest

Dropped in for lunch with 3 hot and hungry kids. They were able to swim in the pool while waiting for food. Food was good value and decent portion sizes. We were all satisfied after our lunch and all finished off with another swim. The...beach is a short walk from the restaurant which we we also checked out. A very nice stop before heading back to the ferry.More

Great spot, truly awful food. I guess if you just want a drink then it gets 10/10 for location but please don’t serve limp salad and grilled fish that you could sole your boots with. It’s remote so I understand but I would have been...happy with a sandwich than waste food that would have ended up in the bin. Chips were good though. Not good enough, try harder. Staff were fine, ts just what hey had to work with was appalling.More

I would give zero stars if I could! We organised our itinerary around getting across the ferry early as advised to avoid the rush and enjoy a leisurely drive through the Daintree Forest. We thought this would be a nice spot to have lunch and...then do a lot of stops on the way back to our camp as there is a lot to see. Unfortunately upon arrival at 12 noon, we were advised by a young lady, that she could not take our order for lunch until the 3 tour busses (that hadn’t arrived yet) had ordered….Really? There was no one else in the bar and they could have easily taken our order before the busses arrived…She did go on to recommend we go back down the road for lunch. I’m sure the owners of this bar/restaurant would not be happy with this advice? So we did take our business elsewhere as advised. Maybe they should change the open hours on the sign out the front to say “open from 12 - unless a tour bus is present”More

We came here on our last night's stay. It is a nice long walk from the carpark to the restaurant. The restaurant is located close to the beach, you can hear the surf, with a nice deck area. Bar is well stocked and the menu...is good, with extra specials. Staff are friendly. If you are not staying at the resort, you need to make a booking. Food was the best we had in Cape Tribulation, had steak and salmon specials, well cooked and delicious.More

We ate lunch here whilst staying at another resort and wish we had found it earlier...both to eat and to stay! Our lunch was delicious, definitely the best meal we had during our 3 night stay in Cape Tribulation. What a beautiful setting just off...the beach.More

Were lucky enough to have two excellent dinners while staying in the lodge and to meet Chef James. The restaurant is only a short walk to the beach where you can enjoy a pre dinner drink while watching the moon rise. The restaurant presents really...well at night with its high ceilings and lighting. The food though is what makes it special. Both nights we choose the blackboard special - one fish and the other steak. The food was well plated, perfectly cooked and made from quality ingredients. The steak was really ended and served with delightful truffled potatoes. Chef James even supplied his method of creating. The crispy salmon with yellow curry broth was the perfect tropical mealMore

We stayed the night at the beach house and ate four meals at Tides. Especially enjoyed the kangaroo special, the cooked breakfast and chicken wrap. Good selection of drinks, too. The location really makes it - a dozen paces to the beach, rainforest and fairy...lights all around. Enjoyed watching the beautiful golden orb spiders making and remaking their webs. The staff are so friendly, nothing was too much trouble for them. Thank you for a lovely, peaceful stay!More
