Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Food was just ok. Service was good and food came out quickly. The croc spring rolls were yummy! Burger was 6/10

We had a delicious dinner at this restaurant. Had the calamari for entree, which was the best we’ve eaten in the entire time we’ve been in FNQ, and had the crocodile and curry for mains, both of which were delicious. Highly recommend.

Nice atmosphere, being surrounded in the jungle. When you book you are not told they have pizza or pasta nights and that's all, nothing else not even a salad. Very odd that you are made to make a reservation however, when you get there the...host dosen't even ask your name and seats you anywhere, seats on the larger tables were so uncomfortable needs a cushion. The waiters are all over the place, not knowing anything about what they even have in stock to drink, also wearing thongs as a server is not a good look anywhere, even when in the tropics. Food was lovely though.More

We booked, and only on arrival were we told that they had run out of water so only pizzas were available. Ordered the BBQ chicken pizza - it was OK. The setting is lovely though, and the staff very nice too.

There are many things to love about this restaurant- the wine list, the beautiful setting, and the lovely staff. However, on the night we went there were only two staff serving a huge amount of tables so most people were going to the bar to...get their own drinks when it was actually table service. The food was really disappointing too- it was pasta night which meant a really limited selection and nothing off the normal menu (not even dessert). My table had three of the pastas and all were pretty average, especially the creamy basil presto one which was flavourless and had no sauce. It was a shame to end our Cape Trib holiday on this noteMore

We stayed as a small coach group at the attached Ferntree Rainforest Lodge, and ate at the Cassowary Restaurant which was staffed by back-packers. Hooray to see them back in action; they performed beautifully. Breakfasts were elaborate, large servings and very enjoyable. Our two evenings...were less enjoyable, with a pizza night and a pasta night which were fairly ordinary. Dining was either indoor or outdoor, and our outdoor was great.More

We ate two breakfasts and two dinners at this restaurant. We thought all food and drinks were very reasonably priced and we enjoyed all our meals. Serves were generous and tasty. Definitely worth sharing the Ferntree Australian platter between two people. Lots to try and...all was well cooked . Staff were lovely. We were staying at the Ferntree Lodge of which this restaurant is part of and it was a great base for our Cape Tribulation stay.More

No service apart from clearing plates. QR code system of ordering is not user friendly and requires an excessive amount of personal data entering plus credit card details. As a result, no choice but to join the long queue of others not able to use...the system at the bar to order. In fact, My husband spent most of the evening queuing at the bar ordering. No cutlery on the table so had to get our own. This is all unacceptable for the high price paid. Restaurant freezing cold and meal took 90 minutes. Felt ripped off. Not recommendedMore

The first meal came out and was finished before the next meals were out. I ordered a garlic bread for the table as entree which came out after 3/4 people had finished. I ordered medium eye fillet which I got once everyone else had finished...their meal. It came out rare so sent it back. The steak was good, still on the rare side (but whatever at this point) but not enjoyable as rest of table was finished and ready to leave. Staff weren’t very helpful or apologetic. Not good enough for the price you pay.More

High price but justified for location, beautiful setting. Food is very bland waited 1 hour for a pizza. I would brave the croc infested rivers to go elsewhere.

The only reason they get a 1 is there is nothing lower, the setting was nice and they had a good drinks menu. We went on a Wednesday night for pasta. 4 menu choices only, 2 vege, bolognese or carbonara, only entree garlic bread. We...did have the toast, as no garlic within 50m of the "garlic bread ". The carbonara was spaghetti in a creamy soup, and some bacon sprinkled on top. The biggest disappointment is that someone in the kitchen thought this was acceptable to serve. I suspect that Wednesday and Thursday nights are the weekend for the regular chef, and they get anybody who's been in a kitchen to fill in. Stop pretending, it would be better to close than serve that as a meal.More

Best food option in Cape Tribulation - had multiple breakfasts and dinners here. Excellent service from all staff members. Make sure you book to avoid disappointment or waiting for a long time for meals (they are also having staffing issues at the moment). The restaurant...spaces out diners to make sure no one is waiting too long for their meals.More

We ate here every night. Clayton was in charge and he was excellent- very friendly and helpful. The food was good, although limited in choice as it was off season. The breakfast muesli bowl was terrific. I had it every morning.
