Dad and I stopped in here on our road trip and the food was delicious! We both had steaks, the quality of the meat was great. They also were chargrilled, will definitely return if in the area! Highly recommend!
We stopped in at the reception to ask about dinner, we were not staying there,as I walked in the door the guy behind the counter was on the phone, so I didn't say anything, he looked up at me and said ,yeah what do you...want, I was taken back by his abrupt rude tone, I said I was inquiring about the restaurant and if they were taking bookings, he snapped back at me and said ,No unless you are a guest, room service only for guests, the chef is sick ,then went back to his phone call, he didn't look at me again, so if ever I'm in Barcoldin I will never stay at that place and I will be telling others how rude and arrogant he was,how they have stayed in business with that attitude is beyond me.More
It was lovely to walk in a cabin that was cool! The aircon was on, I'm not sure it was supposed to be or not, but it was most welcome! We are on a work trip around Queensland, we do it twice a year and...it's very full on driving a lot of km in as shorter time as possible and I was a bit tired and needy and this filled every wish! We went to eat at the bistro and I managed to get what I really needed, just chips and gravy I did ask and would have had something else but this was kind! The beds were comfortable and we were in them and asleep by 7.30! Thank you for a great stay, we will be back!More
I chose this place because of the previous reviews and basically I like the pub grub atmosphere, this was a friendly open air dining experience mid July and yes there was a fire. You order food and drinks at the same counter and the meals...are brought to your table, I chose the battered Barramundi fillets there were 3 narrow fillets with chips and salad and my wife ordered the Parmy, both of which came out steamy hot and were equally tasty. We topped it off with a shared sticky date pudding and icecream before walking back to camp.
We both really enjoyed the meal the flavour was great as was the service I did think the price was a little over the top when I first saw the menu but now I think it was OK.More
Whenever I am in Barcaldine (which is a couple of times a year) I make a bee line to the Iron Bark restaurant with its distinctive breezy outdoor shed, its corners dotted with historic photos and memorabilia. The food is the real deal - steaks...and roasts and lamb shanks with a tasty range of vegetables and salads. Nothing fancy just great 'home styled' pub grub (yes, I know that sounds like a contradiction) which leaves the visiting diner satisfied. There's cold beer and cold wines (yes red and whites are both in the refrigerator because in summer it gets very hot in western Qld). This is for the traveller looking for something 'dinky die' in outback Queensland.More
Had a booking confirmed several weeks prior to arriving, to find that we were allocated a completely different type of accomodation. When we inquired what had happened to our booking, we were told it had just been let and bad luck. When we saw the...room we were offered we were horrified. It was a shambles and we asked for a refund. The only positive was that the refund was granted without question. Never again!More
Went across early for Mother's Day, open style restaurant with lots of charm and character, peanuts on the tables, friendly, garlic bread was good, then we had the crispy skin Baramundi and what a treat cooked to perfection, buffet salads and vegetables, good choice of...vegetables, wasn't expensive, thank you Iron Bark restaurantMore
