We visited for lunch on a cold Winter's day and were impressed with the spatial distancing, the open fire, the full menu & the very warm welcome. Our meals were piping hot & good value, as were our glasses of sauvignon blanc ($8 each). There were quite a few specials as well as the usual menu. Jackie & Lisa went out of their way to make everyone who visited for lunch feel very welcome.

We have been here many times often driving a couple hundred kilometres return for a lunch or dinner. The food, service, atmosphere is consistently attentive, wonderful and varied for many tastes including my vegan family members. Personally my palette and system feels nourished and fresh.

My first time in Daylesford and my first time dinning at Jackie's On Vincent, trust me, definitely won't be my last time for both.
While the main street eateries were packed for lunch, my partner and I stumbled onto Jackie's, just down the road, honestly it was meant to be, we had the best lunch, all local produce, delicious food and drinks, great service, beautifully cooked and was so reasonably priced.
Owned and run by Jackie and wife Lisa, both ex chefs from the well regarded Lake House Restaurant, it's Asian and French fusion with a yummy twist. We shared a Jackie's platter for entree, a Twice cooked crispy master-stock pork belly and finished with an Asian style sticky date pudding and a pumpkin panna cotta, yes pumpkin and my partner said it was amazing. The local Daylesford Brewing Co's pale ale was perfect for lunch, thanks Jackie and Lisa, be seeing you again, very soon.

A wide selection of dishes from several Asian cuisines are offered. I chose the "Feed Me Jackie" option, which is excellent value giving 4 courses for $55. You get a wide sample of the menu, especially the entrees and starters. My main course was the goat curry with yoghurt, very tender and tasty, served with Asian greens and fried rice on separate plates. Unbeatable value - but the portions are generous, so if you are only medium hungry, stick to individual courses. A great selection of wines by the glass, beer and ciders. Friendly and efficient service. A great dinner.

During a couple of days away in Daylesford, we decided to have dinner at Jackie's based on the many positive reviews received through Trip Advisor. We started with San Cho Bou to share. I wish I took photos of the meal so could prove how poor quality the food was. The entree dish came out with two small pieces of cos lettuce with around one tablespoon of mince meat on each. No vegetables or sauce of any description. No flavour...the worst san chou bou I have ever eaten or seen. We followed this with two mains...garlic prawns and Mongolian beef. Again, both very tasteless meals which were very poorly presented. The small amount of vegetables on each dish were sloppy and overcooked. We sent both dishes back and asked if the 'chef' could add some chilli and a sauce of some description just so that there could be some flavour to the dishes. They did this without question which we appreciated however there was not much improvement to the dishes upon their return. We didn't say anything and just ate what we had, paid and left. At a cost of $89 which included two glasses of wine, we were very disappointed with our first dining experience in Daylesford. Based on this restaurants terrific reviews, perhaps we just got the chef on a bad night. This however, in my opinion, is not good enough particularly if you want people coming back and writing positive reviews. I don't normally write reviews, however the quality and presentation of the meal we had, was so poor that I felt very compelled to write this review and provide this feedback to the restaurant. I do wish them well as I am very much aware of the challenging times the hospitality industry in going through, but this meal really could have been so much better.

Dear clarklenae,
Thank you for your visiting and apologized that the food did not live up to your expectations. However, we had tried the best to satisfy you .
The san choi bao when you mentioned, we used the free-range local produce chicken thigh mince, together with oregano , spring onion, and black bean, top with mild aioli, there is supposed no vegetables for the san choi bao and we did everything the same as our menu description. The small pieces lettuces when you mentioned is because we use local vegetable store baby cos lettuce. And I believe they are the highest level lettuce you can find in the area.
Also, as you ordered the main courses mongolian beef and asian garlic prawns, which are often the best seller meat and seafood dishes, and chef jackie had served the dishes the same standard to many other dines. We did not understand what do you mean by the ‘poorly presentation’, all the dishes are guaranteed freshly cooked to orders and together with all the fresh vegetables.
By your request to send dishes back to kitchen add more chillis and more flavour is because we never argue with customers and we do what customers what. Chef jackie even stoped the cooking for other customers and cook your dishes again as priority. After that , our manager lisa went you check “are you happy with dishes now”, your answers were positive by saying ‘it is better now”,while we were disappointed to hear from your side “ not much improvement” from the review and all the dishes in the end came back was empty plate.
we had done the best we can, we did not realize all our efforts will end up with ‘ one star’ review . You were disappointed to pay the $89 for the food and drinks you had. I hope there is a chance you can understand the business side as well, the staff wages have been raised largely, all the food including the red meat, seafood, vegetable, grocery had significantly increased in the past years and we still have keep the price the same and did not raise anything
We are sorry once again and hope you can understand. We wish all the best for your adventure in daylesford.
Best regards
jackie and lisa

A very cold sunday, met with family members from Ballarat for lunch. Recommended
by sister and we were not disappointed. Four differnet main meals ordered between us and ALL were above expectations in qualty, taste, and presentation. Service was first class from a two person run restaurant. Pricing was also value for money. In addition their coffee and barsta service seond to none. Will definitely be a repeat customer due to all of the above.

A bit disappointed as I expected rather alot from reading reviews of this place so epectations ran high. Maybe they were having an off day in the kitchen but food was pretty ordinary. The steak was overdone and the beans on the mains were stringy and old. My honey chicken was tasty but nothing special- in fact it looked just like honey chicken in lots of Chinese restaurants in Melbourne- only instead of serving it with rice it came with a bowl of leafy green salad leaves. My husband saud his goat curry which had been cooked for over 6 hours was fabulous though.

dear toothfariysel,
thank you for your visit and we apologised that the food did not live up your expectations .
we were sorry to hear the steak was overdone, if you knew on the day , we would definitely cook another one and offer you some complimentary drink while you waiting . however, we could not do anything from here.
the honey chicken maybe not much different compared to other Chinese restaurant , however, we have used the best local ingredients as we can. the chicken Is free range from local, honey we used is from local 3km away from our restaurant . the chipotle mayo on the side is house made. we had tried the best we can.
the beans you mentioned we also sourced from local farm call " mount prospect farm", which is 8km from Daylesford. the produce may be varied sometimes. and we had made a report to them when you mentioned the stringy. hope you can understand.
best regards

We were a large group of 20 and Lisa and Jackie were very welcoming, putting together a fixed price menu for us of a range of very tasty dishes including fabulous dumplings. They went out of their way to meet our needs, and varying dietary requirements plus allowed us to pay individually. Food was very tasty and a good selection of dishes. Will definitely visit again!

A casual lunch with a work colleague. Down the bottom end of what is always a ridiculously busy main street so for once parking wasn't an issue. Wait and kitchen staff had a real family feel about it, the food was generous in proportion, very tasty and again had that family based feel about it. Very friendly and competent staff. Will definitely return.

We visitedearly on a cold & rainy Tuesday night & were given the table in front of the fire, which was giving out plenty of heat. We ordered pork belly & garlic prawns, and both dishes couldn't be faulted. Our sweets of dark chocolate fondant & coconut panna cotta were perfect & the bottle of Sandy Farm Cab Merlot was a great accompaniement.

We live locally & have been coming to Jackies for over 5 years. Jackie food is always excellent. We last dined in house in early March but have had take away since. Our favorites are the Sesame Crusted Tasmanian salmon & the Slow Cooked Boneless Goat curry. The prices are inexpensive particularly when compared to some of the other Daylesford restaurants. Wine list is mainly local wines but is good & not expensive.
Sure like most other retail or food premises wait staff are hard to find and sometimes staff are learning but Jackies wife, Lisa, is always front of house & is a great help.
You can either eat outside or inside. In winter by the fire is our favorite spot.
They have a online ordering system for take away which is easy to use, with good photos of each dish & then you get text & email confirmation.
Recommended.
PS. They should really increase their prices but they open every night & probably are catering more for locals that tourists. Most of the other Daylesford "tourist" restaurants are only open Wednesday to Sunday nights.

When we travel we have a ‘rule’ that you don’t visit a restaurant twice, well that rule was broken this week.
We were browsing along the delightful Main Street of Daylesford only to stumble across an Asian fusion restaurant called Jackie’s on Vincent, and how lucky we were to get a table without prior reservation.
Friendly staff welcomed us, drinks order taken then the difficult task of what to order.
Entrees of 10 home made mixed dumplings with all the sauces - party started in my mouth
Next ordered Chicken Honey Soy - again, very delish
Then King Prawns in Curry Sauce - amazing!
Good sized meals well presented and very tasty, no room for sides or desserts.
Enjoyed with local wine
This restaurant (fully licensed) offers a very affordable drinks list, and a great menu.
You have to visit for this taste sensation, it’s really a warm inviting place to eat with good food and great ambience.

Very disappointed as had read and heard such good things . Arrived for Mother’s Day lunch and booked well in advance . Was very tight seating and table settings very basic & mismatched . Waitress was a young child who interpreted for an older lady , the meal orders were taken by I gather the owner which was fine but not all meals (entree) received after multiple requests . We let it go as took so long to address. We all had curry king prawns but looked to me like frozen small prawns from a supermarket. Prawns rubbery and dish lacked taste. Each plate differed in taste & seemed to be watered down in some . Spring rolls nice enough but not great. We expected to have a long lunch but was so disappointed we didn’t stay after the main .

hi Angela
thank you for your visiting ,mother’s day lunch is the busiest lunch for us of the whole year, and we had an early sitting from 12-2 pm, late setting from 2pm till lunch finished. Lisa already informed all the customers when booking.
We were sorry to let you feel ‘tight seating’, as we were very busy for the day and I am sure you can tell at that time.
We also apologized that if the meals not meet your expectations and lisa also offered some discount when you came for the payment in the end.
When lisa cleaned the your tables and also asked your parents’ feedback, three out four all recognized the meals were delicious. We were a bit short staff on that day as most of our staff wanted to spend the day with their mom, I hope your understand mother’s day is very special occasion, and also hopefully you can give us another chance to visit on the normal day. When we got too busy, sometimes a small mistake may be happen, and hopefully you can understand the circumstance when staff all under pressure.
Kind regards

Not quite there for one of our dishes. The Zucchini & Chestnut Falafels were nothing like the description. There were 4 small falafels and a basic rocket salad. No roasted beetroot, no Dukkah spice, no pomegranate molasses and no feta. What was served may have just been entree size and standard, but not as a main as per menu. The Goat Curry was still tight after a questionable 6 hour cooking time.

We decided to go here due to all the positive reviews. We were so disappointed. I really don't understand how people could eat here and leave such a high rating. We ordered chicken and prawn dumplings, calamari and Char keow teow. The dumplings were served under a huge heap of mixed lettuce like you get in bags at coles. Once we removed the lettuce to one side we found the 'dumplings.' They were like someone had run out of dumpling wrappers and decide to use flat bread instead. They were dry, shriveled up and had no flavor. Ive eaten at lots of dumplings places over the years and never seen anything like this. My husband got the calamari that looked like it was frozen calamari you get from Aldi. It was served on top of chips and with a bowl of the mixed lettuce. No dressing and there was no Asian flavors. My char keow teow was ok but again came out with a huge handful of mixed lettuce on top! There were no asian green at all. I feel so bad leaving a bad review but if you're from Melbourne where we are absolutely spoilt when it comes to asian food don't waste your time here. Not sure what the asian fusion was supposed to be but I guess tonight it was a hand full of mixed lettuce on everything.

hi cher M
Thank you for your visiting and we apologized the inconvenience caused to you .
The mixed lettuce on top dumplings it not coles lettuce , the lettuce we got from local vegetable store and also mixed with fresh julienne carrot , bean sprout , which we consider as the ‘garnish’. It is not part for the menu, but we just offered for free to customers and want food looked nice. Quite a few customers will also eat the lettuce as it is light and fresh. and we are not try to hide anything.
We never bought the calamari from ALDI, instead, our calamari are freshly prepared with hand cut and we sourced from our special local delivery.
At the end of your eating , our front of house manager Lisa came to your table and noticed that all the calamari dished finished, and 2 pieces dumpling left on the plate . She asked “ how is your meals, is that everything ok”, your answer to her “ we are just too full, we drank too much water”.
From the feedback you provided to lisa, we did not notice that anything wrong. We are a small family owned business and always focus on customer satisfaction. Sorry for anything that not meet your expectation and hopefully you have good journey in other venue daylesford
kind regards
