We revisited after a gap of several years as we used to live in the area and it was our favourite restaurant. The restaurant has cordoned off the back end of the dining area and there are just a few booths and tables to eat in at. The decor is the same and has become rather dated and there isn't... More

The food is very good, if you eat in, the restaurant itself is a little dated and a bit tacky. However, the service is friendly, quick and the food is plentiful

Three of us intended to have lunch at "Peking" restaurant in East Grinstead. Upon arrival we discovered that the restaurant is closed on Monday. We drove to The Emperor in pouring rain. Place was almost empty. We had Peking Duck and several other dishes, washed doewn by Tsing Tao beer Chinese tea. Polite staff. Service slow to medium slow. Pekind... More

Per some of the other reviewers, this is a take away with a few tables for diners. As long as your expectation is at that level you'll be happy with this Chinese restaurant. Soups were tasty, crispy duck was a little dry, main courses were very good. Didn't venture as far as desert.

The best way to describe the Emperor is that it is a Takeaway that you can sit in to eat rather than a Restaurant that also sells Takeaway. Has absolutely no atmosphere and the food is bland.

Once one of the better - high end - Chinese restaurants on town, this was dreadful. Everything seemed to be deep fried and tasted only of fat. A most awful experience and I would think twice about going back there again

Wednesday 31st August, booked into Felbridge Hotel just down the road. We decided not to eat dinner at the hotel, however there was not much choice outside apart from the Star Inn or The Emperor. This is definitely not the classiest restaurant on the planet, it is more like a takeaway/cafe with about 5 or 6 seating booths put in.... More

East Grinstead's Chinese restaurants are not great, but the food here is consistently good! I don't tend to recommend eating in, the staff have been rude and inattentive in the past, but the takeaway is fantastic!
