I was taken as a surprise for my Birthday and it was absolutely delicious. I had the fig with goats cheese to start and what a good choice. I would highly recommend you visit this secret gem of a restaurant. The staff were very professional and it had a lovely ambience.

We stayed at the George for four nights and ate there on our last evening. We decided to eat from the early bird menu as it had choices we preferred. We didn't do this because of cost but were pleasantly surprised at the quality for under £20 a head. As mentioned in other reviews nuts and olives were available before... More

We had a wonderful evening here during a weekend away. The service was really attentive throughout the evening. Every course was delicious and beautifully presented. The scallops in particular were delicious and the gin and tonic dessert was very clever and tasty. We will certainly be returning.

From the moment you enter the hotel, everything is wonderful - style, ambience and the lovely attentive staff. It's done in the old fashioned romantic way whereby you have an aperative in the lounge area then you're brought into the dining area. The food was excellent and so unbelievably flavourful. Every mouthful was delicious right from the mushroom salad thing... More

I had dinner here on both evenings of my stay. I began with a drink in the bar while perusing the menus before having my order taken and being shown to my table in the pleasant restaurant. On one evening I chose from the main menu and on the other from the early bird menu - a real bargain. I... More

Fine dining at its best. We went for the early bird which is served between 6:30-7:30pm Monday to Friday. 3 choices on each course. All for £20 which is fantastic value given the quality. We were seated in the bar lounge area. We took drinks and were given olives/nuts. Then you are seated in the beautiful restaurant. We were given... More

The décor is very pleasing. You sit in the elegant hotel atrium, read the menu and order your meal, the you move on to the dining room. The service is excellent. The food is presented in a pleasing way with considerable care given not only to the central dish but also to the accompanying sauces. An excellent experience marred by... More

The food was excellent, interesting choices and very well served. Modern cuisine presented appetisingly. Restaurant was very quiet on the night we were there but staff were attentive without being pushy.

We ate here on two nights. An excellent meal on the first night encouraged us to eat in again. My meal on the second night was a disaster, just not edible! I ordered gnocchi which one would expect to be soft. Mine was fried to within an inch of its life, it was unrecognisable. Obviously it was returned to the... More
