We called in here twice on a recent visit to the area. The candles burning in the window first attracted us in, on a cold snowy afternoon. It was a lovely place to dry out and warm up, in front of the fire. The welcome for us and our dog was lovely: open fire, dog treats, good beer, fine gin... More

Visited after a cold day out in the peaks. Sunday lunch was great. 2 vegetarians and a meat eater all enjoyed their meals. A good selection of vegetables, lovely nut roast and overall huge portions. Service was quick and polite. Just what we needed, would visit again.

All the staff were very friendly and welcoming, the beer was pretty good, food was very tasty, and it had a warm cosy ambience. Just what I was looking for!

We visited for lunch. The atmosphere was nice and cosy, and the service very pleasant and friendly. Unfortunately the food wasn't worth eating, and we left most of our 2 course lunch untouched. We ordered the vegetable soup that was an unappealing and thick brown substance, more of a sludge or vegetable mash than soup (I added part of my... More

We called in on New Year's Day as we went for a drive / walk to blow the cobwebs away. It was busy but we were made welcome by the staff, who had clearly been busy, but were very welcoming to all. There was a really good "village pub" atmosphere with a good mx of tourists and locals. We were... More

Seven of us on a Saturday night in early December were turned away from the other pubs in Castleton as they were "fully booked", although they looked half-empty at 6.30pm. The friendly staff at The Peak found us a table up the corner where we had some great pub grub (The burgers are highly recommended) and some excellent beer. Well... More

I only used this hotel for food and drink. I was very impressed with the quality of food and drink available. It was extremely busy so you will need to book in advance but the staff were extremely efficient and helpful considering how busy it was. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. I would happily recommend this hotel... More

We decided to have a trip out to the peak district, spur of the moment, with our two 8 month old dogs. It was such a nice crisp sunny day. We ended up at Castleton and the village looked very quaint so we parked up and decided to have an explore and see if we could get some lunch in... More

This is a Pub / Restaurant hotel in the lovely village of Castleton. We visited her for a drink and some lunch. The bar area is comfortable, warm and spacious with nice fires open fires burning, yet still with small cosy corners. The bar staff were friendly, the beers were good and our lunch was tasty. Would have been better... More
