After a fantastic yet tiring walk up Mam Tor with our 2 children, we popped into Castleton for a potter and refreshments. As usual we used the TripAdvisor app to help us decide where to go for a coffee. I have to admit we chose to visit the Rose Cottage because Tilly's across the road was full- best decision ever!!... Been a couple of times to the cafe and its always been good, went yesterday and left still hungry, the ciabatta was really on half a sandwich. I was charged £6.50 for a kids ham sandwich and chips, but only realised after I had paid....Ask for your itemised bill before you part with any money!! Will not be going back...

Great service and great menu choice for quick, family centred lunch. We only needed a light bite and we're well accommodated. There is a well appointed outside eating area which was not used on our visit (too cold).

Came for a chilled out tea and cake, severed by the most miserable lady who did nothing but seem put out by serving us, we ordered and when the food was delivered my husband was given the wrong pot of tea so I ended up with half a pot, then the cakes were served without the advertised ice cream or... Great stop off when passing through or stopping in Castleton. Good food if you are looking for meal and really nice sweets if you are only there for afternoon tea.

Had two days in Castleton and after eating here on the first day we enjoyed our meal so much we returned the following day. We had different meals on both days and equally enjoyed them both. Great service and warm friendly welcome.

We came upon Rose Cottage after walking up Mam Tor, along the ridge towards Lose Hill. The staff were very friendly, with the place maintaining a cosy comfortable feel. The lunch was of good quality, perfect after a long walk. Being vegetarian, the cafe provided some lovely options. Make sure you try their apple pie or Bakewell tart (truly scrumptious)!

Called in for lunch and were warmly welcomed by a pleasant member of staff. Enough tables at this time of year (Feb) and an outdoor seating area for better weather. Not a massive menu choice, but sufficient, plus a specials board. Anything from coffee and cake to a cooked meal, plus sandwiches, etc. so should be something to suit everyone.... More
