Pre booked for sunday lunch...have called in previously for coffee and scones and bacon/sausage butties. The whole experience was first class. The ambiance is great the food tasted fantastic. I had the lamb while my other half had beef. I must admit I am really surprised at the previous review....never experienced or witnessed anything like it any time we have... More

We are a group of 10 cyclists from West Cumbria who used the cafe today. We had booked ahead and found the table all ready for us on arrival. The service was quick and friendly. We were all happy with what we had. Refills of drinks too. A beautiful little tearoom and gallery, just a pity about the climbing to... More

Hadn't been to Uldale for many years but had heard about Mae's so decided to have a ride up for lunch, we weren't disappointed. The old school building has had time and love spent on it and the result is so fit for purpose. We were warmly welcomed and our order was taken within minutes. The day menu is ideal... More

Had a lovely lunch here during the week, delicious home-made soups and beautiful rustic sarnies, nothing too much bother for Mark and we had our Daughter in her wheelchai, space was made and she loved it too! Top man and top scran!!

On our weeks holiday in a cottage very near the tearoom we visited 3 times ,once for coffee and cake and twice for a meal . Each time the food, service and atmosphere were first class and excellent value for money. my family and I agree its one of the best tea rooms we have visited.

what a lovely tea room this is and saw they also do evening meals and Sunday dinner. The building of the old school reminded my husband of his own village school he went to. Lovely food and friendly people - highly recommend

Enjoyable stop after day on local fells. Dog welcomed as were our muddy boots (washed in a steam to try and clean). Range of local crafts to buy. Nice selection of cakes and decent tea.

Found this lovely old school tea room by accident today. Warm and comfortable with a good range of high quality food. Very friendly staff as well. Not only the delightful cafe but it also has an arts gallery with lots of interesting items for sale from a range of media. Even bought an oil painting.lovely well worth a visit.

Our first visit to Mae's was after reading an article regarding the on-site Art Gallery - and that was the first of many visits. Mae's is a real 'one off' place - friendly, welcoming, quirky, lovely home cooking, great staff, brilliant views over to Skiddaw and interesting art to look at (and buy if you wish) while you're there! All... More

Lovely peaceful place with the best food ever! Beautiful home made scones and cake. All the staff are very friendly and it was nice to sit by the fire with a scone and a hot chocolate.
