We were lucky enough to manage to visit L'Enclume for lunch at the start of December. One of our very few restaurant trips this year but if there was only going to be one restaurant to visit this would certainly be right at the top...of the list. We last dined here around 6 years ago and the food was truly exMore

My wife and I ate here yesterday evening and stayed in one of the restaurant’s rooms. We have been a few times over the past several years and to be honest had been a little underwhelmed by the food ...not by the quality but by...the pretence of it all. However last night was incredible...15 courses but all of such wonderful taste and taken together we were just about full after 3 glorious hours. Our room was warm clean and cosy and breakfast delicious. The staff , without exception were friendly, polite and incredibly knowledgeable and confident despite their seemingly young age . Whilst not cheap ....worth every penny and I look forward to our return 😊👍More

Service superb, atmosphere amazing, food fantastic apart from a too many fish courses - could have been supplemented with a pasta/ veggie/ consume dish. We like fish and it was a bit much. We stayed over in one of the rooms - handy but not...sure it was worth the additional charge.More

Wonderful tasting menu at this 2 Michelin star restaurant in the stunning Lake District. We visited on our honeymoon and the 14 course menu didn’t disappoint, my favourite was the oyster dish with beef... it was just delicious and warming. Good service and wine pairing...was nice. My husband was driving so had the soft drink flight which was a nice surprise and offered some delicious and unusual non-alcoholic drinks! Good social distancing and covid friendly service. 2 tasting menus, 1 wine flight and 1 soft drink flight (we also had 2 cheese boards and port) totalled £550 (when you’re on your honeymoon you can afford to treat yourself! Especially when your 120 person wedding reduced to 15 guests :-) )More

Dined here for my husbands belated 30th, first original booking was cancelled due to lockdown.. staff at the restaurant were excellent in communicating when lockdown came into place & getting in touch when we were aloud to rebook, spoke with staff on both phone &...email, very polite, quick to reply & helpful. Upon arrival was a lovely greeting & taken to our table, near the kitchen in the conservatory. We had a 17:30 booking & was in for around 3 hours. Ordered predrinks. Restaurant has a lovely atmosphere. Staff are amazing, very knowledgeable & polite. The service they provide was faultless. Whole evening ran like clockwork, was a great flow between wines & courses. Even had the opportunity of dining on an evening Simon Rogan was working. The menu itself was amazing! I could not pick a favorite or hold fault with any course. Wines were perfectly paired. This was an amazing evening, & an fantastic experience. I would recommend a visit & would like to revisit one day myself.More

We visited l' enclume on Sunday ( our first visit here ) overall reception and greeting was fantastic, we were seated in a separate part of the main area with 2 other couples which I found soulless and felt a bit pushed to one side.... The first few dishes were lovely but then became a little samey samey , my main concern was I'd paid for a wine flight but the wine kept coming 10 mins before the dishes and the sommelier didn't seem to be on par with the dishes that were coming , I felt he didn't want to be there ? Maybe he was having an off day but wished he'd had his off day another day . My daughter and I were on our Christmas wrks do and both came away a little disappointed.More

We stayed overnight in a room with no windows to look out of but double doors opening on to a small courtyard that we had to keep the curtains closed for privacy. The bed was very modern and equally very uncomfortable. The room was beautiful...and the bathroom was lovely. When we booked we where told we could not arrive until 4pm and because the restaurant had to close at ten the evening meal had to start at 530 pm. We were expecting a relaxing meal that took the night to consume but instead the food came that fast we didn’t have time to drink the wine flight between courses. We felt rushed from start to 8pm finish. I don’t understand why we had to sit at 530pm to be finished by 8pm, we could see the kitchen from where we sat they could have used a catapult and cut out the middle man. We have been looking forward to this experience for a long time but I don’t feel I got what I paid £900 for. Just to be clear the food was magnificent and the room was nice but it was not a relaxing night and at 8pm finding myself in the local pub was not the plan.More

If you like fast food, this is the place to go. They say you should never go back to a place you liked, how true that is and I really wish we hadn’t bothered. We had the tasting menu (you have no choice) with paired...wines, total cost £550 for 2. The food was in my opinion not of an acceptable quality to justify 2 Michelin Stars, having been to others that do. The service was abysmal, the food came so fast we had 3 paired wines on the go! The wines seemed to be bargain basement with little attention made to the food they were meant to “pair” with. Having expected the evening to be a pleasurable relaxed experience we left having had to bring our taxi forward by 90 minutes deflated and disappointed.More

Absolutely stunning food, the 15 course taster menu is to be recommended. The accompanying wine flight was superb too. I could not fault the staff, and service, who not only give you a beautiful description of the food, and drink, but are so friendly, and...down to earth. An absolute pleasure, and a great way to have celebrated 25 years of marriage.More

For my partners 40th Birthday we had an overnight stay, 10 course tasting menu and breakfast at Rogan.Co. The whole experience was fabulous from start to finish, all staff were friendly and genuine, the atmosphere was relaxed and our room was spotless. All things I...had asked for when booking were provided very seamlessly throughout our experience. We will return once our second lockdown is over! Thankyou!More
