An unexpected gem. Found by accident when very hungry on a Sunday lunchtime. We both had steak and ale pie with chips. Very tender steak and full of flavour. Very tasty and good value

Hot food but served on cold plates! The chips were good and the 'barrelled' steak was very tasty. The cod goujons were not available but large fish was. This was disappointing, the batter was very greasy, the fish itself was quite thin and the paper underneath was flimsy. Desserts were scrumptious. All this paled into insignificance after our other halves... More

We stayed in a cottage near Broughton-in-Furness for Mum's 60th birthday weekend. I had seen good Trip Advisor reviews for the Black Cock Inn so booked a table for the Saturday evening for 10 people at 17.45 (early as we have a toddler with us). Upon booking I was not told we were the first sitting of the evening. We... More

Popped in here for a swifty after walking the 30 mins mid afternoon, from our farmhouse rental over the Christmas / New Year , along the old railway line. Looked the more welcoming pub around Broughton and we were right. Dog friendly, nice decor, well kept beers, could have spent the entire afternoon here....alas... thank you....

Ever have a beetroot and chickpea veggie burger? Yeah me either but I cannot stop thinking about this one! SOOO good. The onion rings and sauce were the perfect touch. I have had a lot of v.burgers in my life and this one is the top. We were staying in the area and waited to long to eat dinner since... More

Not been here for a while as it's been fully booked the last 2 times we've tried. The food is good and the chips (which is the weak point) have improved. There were quite a few people in on Monday night so I'd recommend ringing.

Dog friendly. Lovely good. Very good indeed. Lovely inside. Our only gripe was the x mas lights. They were everywhere, and flashing and not ideal for wanting to relax. However, the food is great. We have the steak surf and turf and I had the chicken surf and turf. Both were excellent. Lovely location too.

Great pubs ,café ,bakery and restaurants all within 150m of our cottage We enjoyed the varied food and obliging staff during visits to the BCI,the extra mile was achieved by the chef, when he sourced an excelent fillet of Sea Bass especially for my wife when we commented she was a... We visited today for lunch and the food was great & arrived quickly. Ordered coffee which didn't arrive and had to ask to have it taken off the bill but it was busy! Would def return next time we are in Broughton!
