Would recommend the steak pie, which is a proper pie (not just casserole with a lid), and the chips were excellent too. Desserts are great if you have room. Beer at its best.

Controls for COVID-19 were brilliant. Staff wearing masks and table service throughout. Made us feel very safe, but also very welcome and comfortable at the same time. Sunday Lunch was lovely, although not my usual portion size (but i am a big eater). But enough...to fill with a desert. which was also lovely. Dog friendly, and the beer was perfect...! Would highly recommend anyone visiting the area to try...!More

Despite the current restrictions and rules re Covid, the Brook house continues to deliver excellent service and superb food. All tables need to be booked and do get full quickly so best to book ahead if you can. Staff are managing the safety of themselves...and customers equally well with sanitisers available and track and trace. Excellent menu range and beer choices and it is always worth a check of the specials board. well done everyone, you are all doing a great jobMore

The food in this pub was amazing, couldn't fault it. But the service and the attitude of the staff was apalling. I wouldn't go back again, which is a shame because the food was outstanding. However, there is nothing worse than an unfriendly pub.

We didn't have time to eat here as we were on our way back to the miniature railway after trekking up to the waterfall but the food served to other people looked absolutely delicious. We did have a drink and they had a lovely local...ale on tap and a great selection of other beverages. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and it was clearly very clean with COVID19 precautions in place. Would highly recommend and hope to return sometime to taste the food. Thank you!More

Ideal location for either high, medium or low level walks. Stayed 4 nights in early September 2020. Beautiful surroundings and extremely helpful family management and staff. Excellent menu and obviously has an excellent reputation as heavily booked each of the mid-week evenings we were there....Their large drying room is a huge plus in the Lakes!!More

Good traditional pub grub, friendly staff and great drinks selection. Prices were reasonable. Very handy for the narrow gauge railway if you're visiting form that, and handy for walkers otherwise.

Stopped off after train journey from Ravenglass. Food and beer good just a pity the staff couldn't be more welcoming and friendly. They were verging on rude. Similar experience to earlier reviewer

We found this restaurant through the Fisherground Campsite website and booked in advance of our stay. It was a short taxi drive from the site (we didn’t want to walk on unlit roads at night, but it would be within walking distance in the day)....The food was amazing! Typical pub meals done beautifully well! They had a range of specials displayed on the blackboard. We had the battered prawns and the beef and beer pie and both were out of this world! The staff were lovely and accommodating. It is also dog friendly, staff were very welcoming of our cocker spaniel who loved the attention!More
