We went last week to find our favourite pub in total darkness with no cars in the car park. Electricity failure? Maintenance work? Checked the web site, doesn't exist anymore, no answer to a phone enquiry. The place has shut down unfortunately following local information which is a real shame as it was one of the very best places around... More

My husband and daughter did there homework and decided to book here for Mother's Day 26/3/17 as a surprise they booked three weeks prior. When we arrived at our allocated time, the car park was empty and the pub was not open, very surprised especially on a day where all good eateries are normally booked up. We rang the telephone... I called at lunch time and booked a table which was pretty simple, arrived 4 adults and a little man in a buggy. I had asked for a bit more space for his buggy so I didn't get in people's way and this was spot on, the waitress got on really well with our 18 month old and very kindly... More

We were recommended this pub. I ordered a steak which I was told would be wonderful. I asked for medium rare , when it came it looked dry and was indeed well done. I had to send it back and sat while my husband finished his salmon. I waited ages and said not to bother but the waitress then appeared... More

We hadn't been back to the Yew tree for a while after a disappointing visit some time ago but as it just won an award putting it in the top 50 Gastro Pubs in England, we thought it was time to give it another go... Glad to report that the food is back up to the standard we had been... More

This was a lovely find after a Sunday walk between the two castles. Food was excellent. Scallops to start, roast beef with Yorkshire pudding, excellent and a rhubarb custard tart to follow, which was superb. This was all washed down with a lovely bottle of Marlborough wine. The staff were professional and very friendly. We hope to visit again.

We popped in for a roast dinner this Sunday along with our dog. With tales of local produce and a good selection of ales it really sounds like our perfect kind of place! Unfortunately the reality is somewhat lacking. Tough, over cooked roast beef, anaemic under-seasoned roast potatoes and bland veg. We then attempted a pudding to see if there... More

We haven't been here for a while and we were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and the value. For starters I had scallops, very well cooked with a deep fried pea fritter, mmmm! My husband had goats cheese and walnut starter, lots of different textures and flavours, delicious. For main I had the venison which was... More
