Arrived for breakfast, hour and half after opening, place was empty, yet it took two waitresses to decide how to seat us (2A, 2C, 1B) suitably. Very expensive menu. Why? If the portions were huge, if the quality was exemplary, if the food even warm, the cost would be almost justified. But £7 for flaccid poached eggs on two dry... More

Not sure what you are trying to achieve with your review other than promote a competitor! Sorry, but you are in the minority wanting salad garnish with a poached eggs, 2 home produced eggs with bacon on hand cut, home made bread from a watermill outside Chester is what it is size wise, we aim for taste and we have... Tea room is quite cool ( wear something warm), and the chairs were not comfortable enough for you to take your time and " hang around". Having said that, after about 40 minutes wait, our open sandwiches arrived and although the bread was nice, I think the ham and cheese was sprayed on !, sorry to be negatives but you... More

It is always difficult maintaining the optimum temperature for all customers some dressed for walking, some for afternoon tea, some cycling gear, however at that time of the day, we would have had three heaters going. We pay special attention to the comfort of our chairs when purchasing our chairs, so again I'm not sure what you mean there. We... More

I don't know why this place has got a reputation for afternoon tea which is not cheap. Its very ordinary and the woman who seemed to be running it the other day was so unfriendly - and I have heard this before - so I shall not be going back.. Just because you serve your tea in old fashioned china... More

Recently two customers sat on the table next to where I brew and unfortunately they had to wait as despite staggering the bookings in we had one large booking arrive late, another arrive on time and one arrive early which equated to 32 arriving at the same time. Managing the orders and the staff was hard but everyone enjoyed the... More

We booked and paid a deposit as a party of 13, well in advance, for a surprise 80th Birthday for mum. We had ordered the luxury menu but on our arrival our table had been prepared for the deluxe menu, which includes a glass of champagne and bumps up the cost by £10.00 per head. We where quite taken aback... More

I am confused about your review and have checked your booking. You came in on 1st Oct, the same day as the Steam Rally and as you pointed out the day we had a problem with the electric water heater, which is why as we had explained there was a slower service than normal delivering hot drinks. It is normal... More

Davenports is a truly wonderful find. A friend and I spent a fabulous afternoon catching up and spoiling ourselves with a fabulous afternoon tea. Davenports have a great selection of teas and coffees as well as some beautiful afternoon teas. Service was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon. There is a lovely little shop a garden centre/nursery and a... More

We have been to the Davenport many times now. The choice is exemplory. The range of teas and coffees superb. The food? Well go in elasticated trousers! Every table has its own charactor. I doubt that within my lifetime I will of sampled all the varieties of tea and coffee available. Let alone the food!

We had afternoon tea for two to celebrate my 50th. Upon arrival we decided to upgrade from the classic to luxury which was handled nicely. The food was very high quality and the waitress (the owner) carefully explained where all of the ingredients were sourced from. A nice touch. The ratio seemed to be about 30:70 savouries to sweets and... More

I'm sorry that you were disappointed by being charged extra for additional drinks. I'm afraid the margin isn't there to allow free top ups. We do offer a Deluxe Afternoon Tea in which you can have unlimited drinks during a 2 hour period, but this is priced higher to allow for this. The menu also states that you can ask... More

Arrived on a Sunday afternoon. It was busy but did not expect to be growled at that "it would take 18 minutes to get you a menu". We sat outside and waited in the sun while we watched people walk in and then leave. Presumably given the same level of aggression. After 20 minutes of being ignored we walked down... More

On Sunday afternoon we were fully booked inside with the non-bookable section inside full too. Although we do stagger the bookings, one group of 12 were using the menus (they were half an hour late arriving), three other tables had menus (they were on time), another group of 10 (arrived early) had menus and two tables were waiting for menus... I was very disappointed as I have been here on several occasions for just tea and cake. The afternoon tea was 24.99 + 4.99 for a glass of bubbles. When I came to pay as it was a birthday treat for my friend I was told it was 103.00, I said excuse me? the owner had added previous bill on... More

That really wasn't fair. You came to the till and I totalled the bill for the table. You seem shocked and asked to pay separately, so I did this and charged the first of your party. By mistake, I didn't press the credit card button and added the remainder of the party as requested. You then paid and asked for... More

Description
An award winning farm shop and tea room, situated in a beautiful countryside location, just off A49 holiday route and close to both the Trent & Mersey Canal and River Weaver. Seating up to 45 within three sections, which are themed around local author Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland, with additional seating within their tea garden. On site a long established florist, a flower and plant nursery, beauty barn, a furniture and gift shop and a small variety of rare breed animals. Thirty-five loose leaf teas and two pages of artisan coffees, delicious home-made cakes and a good selection of delicious home-made light lunches, not to mention the award winning Afternoon Teas they specialise in, all make a visit very special. It can be very busy, therefore booking in advance is highly recommended to avoid disappointment. This establishment operates an in-house customer comment card system and monitors feedback.
