We had friends down from Yorkshire and wanted to show them the best in the area for dinner so we chose the Artichoke, and weren't disappointed. The food was innovative and beautifully executed (the dorset snails and the rhubarb tart went down particularly well), and...More

Three of us were on a birthday treat and, having walked past the Artichoke many times in the past, we felt it was time we gave it a try. And what a try it was. We all had the taster menu (one the vegetarian version)...More

Have been a number of times in a small group. Took a team of twenty and had a fantastic evening. Food is in my opinion 2 Michelin star worthy. The team are great but the service is not quite up to the food. It's very...More

Food and service are both extremely good. It can be booked up so it helps to reserve a table a few weeks out from your preferred dining date. Good wine list but can be a bit on expensive side. Certainly the best in the area.

This is one of the best meals i have had, we had the full tasting menu with wine flight. The chefs were so quiet as they all knew exactly what they needed to do, all the courses were very impressive and not one let the...More

Went for dinner with a friend on a Friday night. After being seated we weren't offered drinks. We had to ask several times for menus. We then had to ask 3 times for our order to be taken. It was so bad that the chef...More

Cannot really add any more to my last review on 3rd August 2016. Again, the 5 course tasting menu, the sole, and the pork (in place of the duck) were top class. Pity about the almost raw parsnip on the veggie main course. The staff...More

It's taking self into the high end food market. It clearly is seeking at least a Michelin star. The thing that militates against it, is the tables are too close together. The food is very interesting, we had the taster menu great flavours, well presented and served

An award winning dining destination in the centre of beautiful old Amersham, the Artichoke restaurant has been tipped for the top by critics, chefs (including Raymond Blanc) and, rather impressively, the Michelin Guide 2011. The traditional setting of Artichoke has been given new life with a slick contemporary country makeover in which comfort and style sit side by side, colours are muted and soothing and the beautiful features of the building are allowed to shine through, a part of the carefully considered dcor. Chef and owner Laurie Gear oversees a refined modern European menu filled with charming additions including not only seasonal ingredients but foraged herbs, berries and flowers too and he and his team can be spotted hard at work in the open kitchen from the Kitchen Dining Room. Other spaces here at Artichoke include the glorious Garden Dining Room, opening out on to the bespoke herb wall and the Wine Room up on the first floor, leading in to the well stocked cellar and just right for sophisticated business dining. The perfect neighbourhood restaurant, Artichoke has certainly put Amersham on the map.
