Amazing. Don't ask yourself if it's worth the drive if you're staying elsewhere on the coast. Just go!!!

Xkalak is a fishermen town, with 250-300 inhabitants. 5 1/2 hours from Merida, almost in the middle of nowhere, but famous for being one of the best sopots to stay for scuba divers. And then, my brother who visited town a few months ago, told me "I don't remember the name, just ask for the restaurant ran by 2 Canadian... More

We ate at the Leaky Palapa twice while staying near Xcalak. The owners were extremely friendly and the cook came out to discuss dietary needs directly with us and was willing to make suggestions and accommodate those needs. We had a bottle of wine, appetizers, salad, main course and dessert. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are in vicinity.... More

Imagine finding yourself in a tiny, dusty, middle-of-nowhere Mexican town only to discover that there was this outstanding restaurant tucked away there! The Leaky Palapa is it! Great friendly service, good wine menu, outstanding food, perfectly prepared fish, a quiet little bar...What more could you ask for?

Just try it. Reserve (yes) when possible. Have some freshly made cocktails, seafood, home-made pasta, greens from the garden. The decor is stunning and candle-lit, the staff is charming. Yummy. I would return anytime.

Another great visit to Leaky Palapa. We stayed nearby at a favorite spot (Playa Sonrisa) and had 2 great dinners at LP. the last time we were in the area LP was closed and we were disappointed so it was a nice surprise that on our visit back to the area LP was back in business. Who would think there... More

The Leaky Palapa is Fantastic. The most recent trip was my Third trip to this lovely gem. The owner/operators Marla and Linda never fail to serve up a top notch experience in food and hospitality. I have had a variety of items all worthy of 5 stars. There are many delicious choices for starters like smoked octopus or the Caesar... More

We are here Sunday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday again during our stay in Xcalek. Taco Sunday is amazing, get one of each of the three. The Lobster Ravioli is incredible as well as the Grouper with squid ink resoto.
