Although recommended by locals, I didn't particularly like the food in this restaurant near the main square. It's big and was crowded with noisy Mexican families. I did love the marimba players though! But I would suggest trying some of the restaurants overlooking the river, which looked so much more interesting.

A well-decorated restaurant in the center of town, el Campanario offers typical fare for Chiapa de Corzo and Chiapas. Most of the restaurants offer the same, but over the years I keep coming back to this one because I've enjoyed myself here. Even though I was alone this trip and arrived before the usual dinner hour (2:00) when there were... More

El Campanario offers a lovely environment with live miramba music. Unfortunately, there aren't any vegetarian selections. They did make me a salad which was made up of sliced cucumbers, tomatoes and radishes. It is impossible to find a true green salad in Chiapa de Corzo. This restaurant serves pozol. This is local drink made from cacao, corn, cinnnamon and water.... More

Nice place, well kept, clean and good location. The food is just ok, the portions are small and you don't feel that satisfied after. They really think it's a 4 star restaurant for the price they charge for something you can get just outside their door. Example, I paid $90 pesos (+- $8 UDS) for a couple of tamales that... More

The food was ok, and the prices were not too affordable considering there was not anything super special or fancy on the menu. On the good side, the place and ambiance was good, they even had a live "marimba" playing group. In my opinion you are better off driving to San Cristobal de las Casas (about a 30min drive) and...
