My husband and I sat at the bar, as we usually do when it is just the 2 of us. Bartender was friendly, service was very good. We shared the muscles (YUM), and the evening feature: blackened salmon with a lobster tail. Everything was delicious. There is live entertainment many nights. We were actually glad to be there on a... More

We will be talking about this meal for days! We started with the pork sweet potato fries and the crab dip and finished with the bacon scallop dish... so so so amazing!! We were a bit tired of greasy/fried food that we had been having most nights while visiting the East Coast so this was a welcome change! Cannot recommend... More

I went to Red Shoe Pub for lunch with 5 people total. Amazing food and service. I would say best seafood chowder I have ever eaten in a restaurant. All of my group loved their meals and we finished with the warm gingerbread and 5 forks.

Thank you Wendy MacIsaac for such a great night of music and dancing on our recent visit to Mabou. This pub is a must if you are in the area.

Stopped in for a late lunch when heading back to Halifax after three days on Cape Breton. The pub was busy and had live folk music playing. The weather was warm so we sat outside. The waitress was clearly harried due to how busy they were. The atmosphere was not conducive to the pleasant lunch we were hoping for. The... More

Nice place. Smaller, lots of people waiting for tables. Great fiddle music, diner played spoons. Staff is very busy and friendly. Clean bathroom. I ate fish and chips and my friend ate the catch of the day (halibut and lobster tail). Both were very good.

We saw this place in a guide book and thought we would give it a try, not expecting anything outstanding. Boy, were we wrong. Just wish we were there when there were musicians playing - looks like it would be great. However, we were there for a late lunch and hte place was almost empty. The menu is very interesting... Arrived for a late lunch after 3 pm. No music and only a few tables were occupied. Food was below average. I ordered a burger and fries and wife had a lobster roll. Burger was way overcooked and lobster roll was soupy and served on a partially burned bun. Would not return.

Ate here one evening while staying at the Duncreigan Inn down the road. Good food and service, loved the beef curry!

We stumbled accross this place this past Saturday, which was the day after it had opened for the season. They are only open from June until October. It is very quaint, and it has the very best seafood chowder of anyplace we found in Nova Scotia or PEI. The waiter was super nice to our group, and honest in admitting he had only started the day before, and hadn't tried all the items on the menu yet. He went back to the chef on a couple of occasions to ask if he could change a menu item for us (which they did), and was very attentive to our lunchtime needs. This is a really good restaurant and should be added to Trip Advisor. Thanks, John Ward Smith
