So we booked a weekend away at a nearby caravan park and spotted this pub on our way in. As we are all adults, we don’t normally stay on site and prefer to support nearby communities by spending our money in local pubs. So once...checked in and all unpacked we headed out to the Crown. We planned to stay all afternoon and evening too. On arrival we were seated at a table and given a menu. There were only six meals to chose from but that didn’t matter as we were all hungry and glad to relax. We ordered food and drinks and began to unwind and enjoy our break away. The beer was crisp and tasty and the food plentiful and delicious. But we were let down by the miserable old lady who served us. She was scruffy looking, rude and not friendly at all. Once we’d eaten and ordered another drink she came and put a sign on our table saying it was reserved from 7pm. Didn’t even look at us and muttered you have to be gone by then and walked off. We even over heard her saying she couldn’t wait for holiday season to be over as she dislikes tourists! Well we voted with our feet and drank up. We didn’t do anything wrong, we kept ourselves to ourselves, and to be treated like that, well we didn’t even bother then to order more drinks or spend any more money. Proper ruined our nice experience. There were four of us, all big drinkers with plenty of holiday spends. We never returned after that and probably never will. Shame as well, because the pub wasn’t far from the caravan site, and everything else was spot on.More

The Crown should just do drinks. They put big tables in such a small room! I went for a quick Sunday dinner but turned out I had to wait an hour till it was my turn to go in. They ran out of mash so...they had to make more which took 20minutes. If you do food you should always have enough.More

We were late (about 3pm) so most roast dinner meat had sold out apart from one lamb shank which my partner had and I had a homemade chicken and mushroom pie. The food was delicious. Tasted like proper home cooking to us, would recommend and...visit again. Owners/staff really friendly and they allow dogs. The place did look a bit grubby but looks like they are doing part of it up at the moment.More

We visited here on our first night on holiday. They were very welcoming and kids are allowed. We visited for food. Firstly we went to order but somethings were not on the menu, the chef was very apologetic and explained that he was just taking...over and was running stock down so he could start doing his own thing. I chose a burger and my meal was lovely, homemade chips too which is always a nice surprise, my partner had liver in a yorkshire pud, but it was cold, however he didnt like to complain as they had been so friendly, had we complained im sure it would have been fixed. Overall food let them down but there pints were brilliant.More

Four of us popped in for an evening meal whilst camping. The menu seemed to have a good choice and the specials board had a selection of pies. My wife and myself oppted for pies. The meals cost about £7.99 per meal. What we got...was pies that had come out of a packet from what looked the local discout supermarket. The gravy arrived just before we finished the meal and the waitress said she was sorry she had forgot and the gravy was thick and congealed. Our friends also ate with us and they had scampi and the other curry and chips. The presentation was bad the service was bad and the food made from cheap ingredients. Never again.More
