My wife and I were on a two day trip to Sylva NC with another couple. We ate breakfast at The Coffee Shop the first morning. This place is a dump, very cramped and dirty. Sticky seats and tables. Our waitress acted like she was...wishing she was anyplace other than there and it wasn’t long before we were wishing the same thing. My breakfast order took a long time, came out really cold and just wasn’t good. These folks also install wheel locking boots on the cars of folks that park there and walk across the street for five minutes. Even if your coming right back to eat there. They charge folks $50 to take the boot off. Ugly building, inside and out. Bad service, bad food, bad extortionist attitude in the parking lot. I wouldn’t recommend this hole in the wall restaurant to anyone under any circumstances. No! No! No! Never again!More

Most every small town has a place or two like this. Been around forever, looks and feels like it too! But I enjoy places like this and we stopped in for breakfast just because it has that look. Small inside, booths and an old school...counter with seats bolted to the floor. Service was good, food was good too. Bathrooms were really small, but overall it gives the place character. If you enjoy places like this, and I do, go for it. But if a 1950's era place (the original from early was torn down in the 50's) is not something you care to experience, go elsewhere. It isn't shiny or new that is for sure. But it has character in my opinion and is unique.More

I really wanted this to be my place, but went twice and twice I was served cold bacon. Bacon should be cooked to order. Better step up your game, there's a new place in town and they're great!

Have been going to The Coffee Shop for years. Not anymore! When have the staff is wearing their mask under their chin and the cook/owner is not wearing a mask at all and says “No one is going to tell me what to wear in...my own business!” Fine! Will never be in there again!More

My wife and I wanted a quick early morning breakfast before heading out to the Nat’l Park and we were lucky to find this place! Staff were very friendly and attentive to our table. Our server had a beautiful voice and could be heard singing...along with country songs being played on the radio. We went all out and ordered eggs, bacon, country ham, pork chops, biscuits & gravy. Our meal hit the spot and our server kept our coffee mugs filled. This will definitely be a stop on our next visit to Sylva!More

My husband and I dined here for breakfast during our stay in the area. Definately a place the locals dine at. Friendly staff as well. Simple home cooking served warm. We enjoyed our breakfast.

I am wondering if the city is aware of how The Coffee Shop is treating its tourists. I had parked in a space adjacent to their many unwelcoming signs, in a spot that did NOT bear a no parking sign. Mind you, there were many...available parking spots directly in front of their business which I avoided. We crossed the street so my boyfriend could partake in one of Sylva’s great small businesses—to grab a craft beer at Innovation. I even left my car running knowing I would only be a couple of minutes—with the intention to cross back and grab a coffee from The Coffee Shop for myself. Within minutes and without even giving me the opportunity to come get my coffee, they had put a boot on my car with (Minnesota plates—clearly a tourist!) and demanded $50 to take it off, and didn’t even offer a receipt. Not only did they lose my business for life (I am a frequent visitor, as my dad now lives in the area) and thereby cost themselves more money than they robbed me of, but they put a sour taste in my mouth for a community that would allow a business to do such things. It wasn’t the greatest way to introduce my boyfriend to a community that I had just finished telling him was so adorable. If I was in charge in Sylva, I would be very concerned about the way that this business is treating its guests and patrons, and that they might be pocketing cash and not reporting it and thereby not paying taxes on it either. A business should not be authorized to boot whomever they want and demand cash for it. It’s dishonest, it’s illegal if they are not authorized or paying taxes on it, and it’s a disgusting practice when they weren’t even in need of spaces in the first place. It was clearly a gross display of their jealousy of their neighbors’ business, and at the cost of Sylva’s tourists.More

Way overrated. Second class food at best. I will not go back because of quality and freshness. The staff However we’re very nice and helpful to a weary traveler.
