York is one of Western Australia's most historic towns and the Castle Hotel is said to be the oldest inland hotel in the State. No doubt the premises has had its fair share of renovations; it is a pleasant and enjoyable venue to have a very good pub meal from the wide offering available. The chicken and meat lover's parmigiana were the best we had eaten for ages. Both were generous serves and the chicken was beautifully moist and cooked to perfection. The chips and salad accompanying the "parmis" were very adequate. The Castle Hotel menu provided a good range of dishes including wood fired pizzas and a full bar. York is a busy tourist town a little more than an hours drive from Perth which offers plenty of historical interest and eating venues; if you want to enjoy the best parmigiana go no further than the Castle Hotel. Prices were very reasonable and the staff most obliging. .

It was a warm evening so we enjoyed freshly cooked pizza in the courtyard. The pizza supreme was delicious and even though I ordered the small size (without pineapple, which seems a weird addition to a supreme pizza!) I still had half of it left over. We didn’t realise that Saturday night is Karaoke night but , even though some of the voices weren’t the best, the atmosphere was fun and happy.

Pub food and pub prices. Plates were well filled – no complaints. Pleasant but quite noisy. Suggest placing current menu on external door so prospective customers can made a decision prior to entering the pub.

Looking across the reviews on this and other sites, there seem to be consistent themes of unhelpful staff and unreasonably long waits on food. The night we visited the venue was on point on both these fronts. The meals took an incredible hour and a half to arrive. We could hear many customers complaining around us for the same reason. When the meals arrived we had to send one of them back it was so unacceptable in terms of size and quality. But the attitude of the bar staff was the kicker - totally unapologetic to the customers, almost as though it was the customers' fault for being there and clogging up the kitchen with orders. They were grumpy, surly women who really need to reconsider careers where interaction with human beings isn't required. They clearly aren't happy working here.

My wife are staying in York for 2 nights on our way to Albany. We decided we would like a pub meal. Big mistake. My wife decided she would like the potatoes with shives bacon . The potatoes was cold. The bacon was raw not cooked. I had was was called fried seafood. I think they need to change the cooking oil. The seafood batter was hard and very dark. Chips were well under cooked and had the Tae spud taste. Be aware of this place and avoid it

A busy sunny Sunday afternoon in York & on the good advice of the Penny Farthing Sweets shop, we were told that kitchens close early if looking for a pub meal. Not wrong - we managed to place our order at the Castle Hotel Bistro just before 1pm, before its announced that the kitchen is closed. Some 40 minutes later & still no food has been served. We are not alone judging by the unhappy faces seated around us. Anyway, can't comment on the food because it never arrived & asked for my money back less drinks. Ended up across the road & joined the queue at Nguyen's Bakery Cafe - which didn't disappoint like this place.

Great country pub mainly frequented by locals. We enjoyed a wood fired pizza made in a pizza oven in the beer garden. Karaoke was the Friday night entertainment and provided some amusement. Enjoyed the visit

Luckily managed to secure a table for 2 as all others in the bistro were reserved or occupied. I ordered the T-Bone special, my wife the garlic prawns with accompanying glass of SSB. I couldn't get my prefeed shiraz by the glass so threw caution to the wind and ordered a bottle. Meals were a tad slow in arriving but certainly worth the wait. I still remember the taste and quality of the meat and peppercorn sauce. My wife very pleased with her selection. Friendly service throughout.

What can I say, This wood fired pizza was truly amazing. Sitting outside in the courtyard and watching them fire up the pizza oven, there wasn't much of an option of what to eat. This was a truly spectacular pizza . No such thing as too many toppings in my book and way too many places go short on toppings. Not here. If you're in York . Stop by on the weekend and get yourself a pizza.

We had a very good lunch the food was superb! Be warned some of the portions were huge, but others were well proportioned and beautifully presented. Although we are inside in the lovely dining room there is a great outside area. The staff were friendly and helpful although they did close up early. Well worth a visit if you are in York.

Absolutely disgusting. Tracey was the rudest person encountered. The way she treated staff was disgusting. Tracey pushed one of our kids out of the way. What was marked as kids menus to come at 6.30pm last one came out last. Food was ok (just) but who puts mushroom on a meatlovers. Never ever again

Lunch at the Castle Bistro was really enjoyable. We sat in a lovely sheltered beer garden and were looked after by friendly and helpful staff. The food was delicious and the servings very generous. I had the bruschetta which was great. Definitely recommend!

We had a lovely stay. Enjoyed the pool, and found the staff and other patrons friendly. Had a great room, recently renovated, clean and tidy. Nice big double opening doors outside, so lots of lovely fresh air, and a nice space to sit. Look forwards to coming back. Thankyou
