Great High Country Chinesr

Went to Bright Chinese one night was a little put off by facade BUT DONT judge a book by its cover. The service was fantastic and the dishes our party had were of the highest quality and of such great flavour, freshness. The fried rice was the best I have had it was moist and generous in its serve. Would highly recommend for a great meal out for a value price will go back again.

Opt for Take out rather than eat in

We visited on a busy night during the Christmas period, however we were only 1 of 3 tables seated in the restaurant. The 8 of us chose one of the banquets. It took at least 30 minutes just to get a drink and place our order. Over an hour before we ate anything, and the wait between courses was far too long. We chose to leave before the dessert as it was hot in the restaurant and we were all tired. In saying this, the food was great. Some of the best Chinese food I've had, and there were dozens of people picking up take-out orders.

Food was OK but some items not house-made. Dim sims & spring rolls were the same as you would buy at a supermarket. The main meals were tasty enough but again some things were out of a can rather than fresh (eg: champignons & water chestnuts). We won't be back.

Even on the busiest weekends in Bright you will get a table here. “Fantastic!” You might say, however, there is reason for the lack of patronage. The decor hasn’t changed from the 80s but you could overcome this with a good meal. The food is terrible. The dim sums were straight from a Black and Gold bag and were served to us still frozen inside. Our group of 8 had been drinking beers all the day at the races and despite being having impaired judgement the guys refused to eat their meals. We politely mentioned that we were not happy with the food and received $8 off!! Avoid this place at all costs.

The worst Chinese

Even the $15 spent on two wanton soups and some dim sims was wasted money. Dim sims were standard cheap shop bought ones and were awful. Short soup tasted really bad. No flavour in the broth at all or the wantons. Even the front entrance was not inviting with the place looking as run downs as it was 10 years ago. Been coming to Bright for years and thought maybe a quick Chinese snack here for the first time. Not good at all.

Bright Chinese Restaurant: Visit Only If Dying of Hunger

I went to Bright Chinese Restaurant to order Sweet & Sour Steak and large Vegetarian Fried Rice takeaways. The service was rapid, but that was the only good thing about this restaurant, which has cornered the market for Chinese food in Bright. The food was, in a word, tasteless. The sweet and sour sauce should have covered the meat and vegetables. Instead, what should have been rich, thick, purple sauce was a runny, watery, almost colourless fluid covering the bottom of the plastic container. The vegetarian fried rice did, to an extent, save the meal, but not enough to stop me from giving up after four spoonfuls and offloading my portion of the insipid mess into the dog’s bowl. Cushi loved it. The rest of the meal went straight into the bin. My advice is this: avoid this eatery. Save your money for one of the other restaurants in Bright, of which there are several good ones.

Thank you so much for the meals that we had they were some of the best Chinese food we have had in along time, my husband even said the special fried rice was about on par with his. The host was a very friendly young man for whom we will able to have a good conversation. We will definitely be back when we come back to Bright next year. Bravo guys.

Great chinese food

When the dim sim & spring roll are cooked crispy & not oily it was a great start to dinner. The honey king prawns were yummm, and combination the flavour we have come to enjoy. Highly recommend you try. Remember BYO beer or wine. Thankyou Bright Chinese

Unclean and inedible

The restaurant itself simply isn’t clean. We ordered takeaway and while I waited I was actually quite concerned about the lack of care and cleanliness but hoped the kitchen and food would be the exception. The food was awful and neither of us got past a few mouthfuls. The black bean sauce tasted awful, even the fried rice was not great. Really disappointing and concerning.

Truly bad food and unhygienic environment

SO disappointed by not just the inedible food but the dirtiest foyer, curtains, walls etc. The food was awful! Such a waste of money! The vegetables with black bean was disgusting and slimy and the fried rice had zero flavor. The corn soup was ok and that’s it! There’s plenty of other local options and I recommend going elsewhere.

Basic but beaut

We had a long day so a quick take way appealed. We ordered over the phone and the meal was ready in 10 minutes. It was a simple meal but the ingredients were fresh and tasty. The staff member was friendly and the meal was value for money. Don't worry that the outside needs a touch of paint, the food was worth it.

Excellent service, food was also very good. Spring rolls extra crispy, the way we like it. Don’t be put off by the outside. Yes it could do with a cleanup, but the kitchen is extra clean. You can see it from the front entrance.

Really excellent meals

Lots of reviews here complain about the dim sims. Well we didn't have them and our meals weren't just good, they were exceptional! Couldn't fault it in any way. Staff were friendly, service was fast and all food was super fresh and tasty. Best meal we had in Bright by a long way!

Pleasant Evening

There were 3 couples,we had been travelling the Murray River and this was a 3 night stop at Bright,we thought we would have a night out and The Bright Chinese Restaurant was our choice.The reviews were a bit up and down but the 6 of us were pleasantly surprised,the food was tasty and the service was excellent.
