Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Dropped in for a meal with and old mate while staying at Pt Moorowie. We both had schnitzel's which where huge and delicious. Would definitely call in again when over in the peninsular. Well done Melville.

The dining room is nicely set up and the staff are very attentive. You go to the counter to order and a staff member is always cheerfully on hand. The meal is served quickly with delightful presentation and perfectly cooked.

Stayed the night with my boyfriend in the clean comfortable room and decided to have dinner at the pub the night. Ordered Thai prawn salad, steak and salt and pepper squid. They’re ALL made with love and care. I’ve had my best prawn and squid...at that pub. My boyfriend also said that the steak was great too. One thing that kind of surprised me that the squids were only 5. We’ve ordered an entree but I was expecting a little bit more then 5 :) The next morning we got up and sat outside and a lady came with cleaning gear and we started to have a chat. She said that she cooked last night’s dinner. I said to her that the dishes were cooked to a perfection and obviously made with love, just the size of the portion of the squid broke my heart. She said thank you for being honest and she said she took that on board. Then we started talking about our selves. She talked about business being difficult with coronavirus and her having lost her mum recently, her having 2 cats and a lovely dog and a new born grand kid. Lovely sincere chat. At lunch time we ordered schnitzel and fish and chips and WOW!!! I couldn’t believe the size of the serves. I kept eating my schnitzel and the size of it didn’t budge!!! A huge piece of wonderfully cooked and prepared dish ❤️ My eyes had tears of joy and gratitude to this awesome lady Tracey she really took it on board what I said to her earlier. Such an amazing gesture. Waitress also asked if we wanted any drinks as Tracey would like to offer us so I had a beer. I had to take the meal as takeaway as it was huge and we had it as dinner with my boyfriend the night. I wanted to say huge thank you to you wonderful gentle soul Tracey. I pray that the business takes over and financial abundance flows to you whatever you do as I know that you do it with love. I pray that a lot of nicest people visit your pub and brings joy, happiness and money to your business and to your family. If anyone wants to eat an honest, meals cooked with love, definitely try Melville pub.More

Sort of undergoing renovations, but still had some charm. Service wasn't bad, and also has a nice beer garden as well. Didn't mind the place.

We had a lovely lunch at the newly re-opened Melville Hotel on Friday. What a delight to visit this beautiful and historic pub. Excellent Thai Salad - one could rate it as gastropub quality. Roomy, light filled and wonderfully friendly staff.

Surprised and delighted that the ol' Melville was open again. My wife and I ventured in to have a look and the menu was new - so were the staff. Everything had a fresh "new-start" look and the food we ordered - I had the...flathead and s&p squid combo which was fabulous, fresh and attentively prepared - AND extremely well priced. My wife had 2 pieces of KG whiting - equally fabulous, Salad bar was very good, staff - young and keen, professional and friendly. Wine-list was very good and WELL priced too. Top stuff! We'll be back when we're next on the Yorke Peninsula.More

Went to the Melville over Easter and it was disappointing no easy way in as front doors all locked had to go around side, and looking for the bottle shop was there but not open. The staff not as friendly as the use to be...and it was not as welcoming as we were going to have dinner there but the hotel looks tired.More

This pub went downhill for a while but, on the advice of a local friend, we gave it another try last week. It was excellent. A plentiful and varied salad bar, a good hot vegetable bar, an impressive range of specials to choose from with...prices starting from $10, plus an a la carte menu which contains all the usual pub dining room fare. Hot bread rolls are brought to the table. The dining room is spacious and clean, well-lit and has a wall of windows looking out onto some greenery. Staff were friendly and helpful.More
