We have just spent a weekend in Tanunda so the husbands could have a round of golf. Last night we went to The Clubhouse for dinner and we were very pleasantly surprised. Lovely atmosphere, modernised but without taking away from the charm of the old building, we found the rear walls scenic mural/photograph fascinating and far more interesting than a blank wall covered with uninteresting art. Waiting staff were very prompt and service was excellent. Great menu with something to please everyone. I had a lovely Lamb back strap with chat potatoes, minted pea mash, grilled broccolini and pine nuts with a delicious jus, the meat was cooked to perfection and I ate every morsel. Dear Husband had the mushroom risotto which was tasty and a very generous serve that he just couldn't finish . Everyone else thoroughly enjoyed their meals with the exception of one. Grilled lemon pepper King George whiting with chips and slaw, apparently a little dry and rubbery which was a shame as she said the flavour was lovely. Would definitely go back again !

Our first visit since dine-in opened up again. We were part of a family birthday group eating lunch in the dining room. Their new menu prices are up a bit. Blackboard specials are up there with main meals from $25-$30. Our mains took an hour to arrive. Some were lukewarm, including mine, Stout Drunken Lamb Backstrap, also a little rare for me but served with a delicious minted pea puree.

Friendly atmospher. This Club House offers the best of Pub food but done in a more sufisticated presentation. Food is delicious and the Table Service is number one. All sorts of alcohol can be brought from the Bars and Eating facilities are seperate from the Front Bar section.

Avoid at all cost. I give 1 star because the staff make an effort to be welcoming. The food is only just edible and not worth the money. We like to give a business a second chance as chefs can have off days, and because the options in a Tanunda were limited on Mondays and Tuesdays, we visited the Clubhouse again. The chicken schnitzel was reconstituted chicken, the lamb backstrap and vegetables are overcooked and very salty. Other dishes we tried were heavily salted. They also serve cocktails, however the person making the cocktails did not have a clue how to make them. All up the Clubhouse is not a meal venue to be recommended if you have other options.

Atlantic salmon was that dry and flavorless that we left the entire plate almost unbeaten and staff didn't even ask when clearing plates... blonde young girl Bethany was out to make sure everyone knew she was angry Won't be coming back. Didn't even eat my meal and not even offered an alternative when obviously didn't enjoy...

Beware this venue did not honour the Entertainment Book even though they are still digitally listed in the book. We frequented The Clubhouse on 11 January 2022 and chose to support this venue as is in the Entertainment Book so we support them with our business and we were supposed to received 25% off however the business did not honour the discount. We have found this business to mislead patrons as they have not removed themselves from the Entertainment Book and therefore you expect the discount would be honoured. The meal we had was okay however disappointing the manager would not consider giving the discount we were entitled to. We have contacted the Entertainment Book directly and they were not aware this venue was not accepting their book. We have emailed The Clubhouse and we have had no response from them from the 19 January so this shows they have no regard for customer feedback. Very disappointing overall but thank goodness there are an array of other venues who do provide excellent food, drinks and service locally in Tanunda and deliver what they advertise.

While the service was quick and friendly, food was below average. Had a chicken snitzel with surf and turf prawn sauce came luke warm on the side. Had clearly been thickened with something and was gluggy and tasteless. Unfortunate as there's always such a nice atmosphere.

Dined with friends on a Wednesday lunchtime. A very large group arrived after we did but were served before us. Consequently I think the standard wasn’t as good as it could have been. Seafood platter had a piece of soggy fish which appeared to have been sitting a bit too long. Calamari and prawns were ok. Salad was ok. However, they can’t cook a decent chip! I had a kassler chop with sauerkraut on a bed of mash potato with mustard cream sauce. And that was it! A chop covered with a pile of white on another pile of white on a white plate with no other vegetable of any sort. Very uninteresting meal. Kassler was tender but that’s about it. Roast meal looked ok. Lamb back strap looked ok. Meals were not large.

We went there for a meal and a nice drink. Oysters smelt and Tasted absolutely disgusting - clearly ready to be thrown! Pork belly was on a bed of salad that made no sense rocket, thick sour balsamic vinager, burnt pear.. The flavour clash was disgusting. With the pork belly being nothing but soggy. No crunchy top. They need to rethink the flavour to put on a plate. A pub meal really gone wrong!!

Staying in the Barossa I asked at my motel where to eat. The Clubhouse. Ah right. I’ll see if there’s something better. Well we all know that if we’re not sure as we’ve not been before, you go where the most cars are. Well there wasn’t too much activity happening in the Main Street but one street back people were flocking in and the car park was almost full. Prompt service to table and explanation of how it works for novices like me. Can’t go past the risotto. Comes out super quick which made me wonder but I needn’t have worried. Had chicken added and it’s breast fillet. Another worry. They must have poached it as it was still moist and tender. Totally yum and totally overstuffed. Excellent selection of vintage wines by the glass. Enjoyable experience.

A great local club, terrific food and a great range of wines. This local venue brings the best food and wine from the Barossa. The service was friendly, even tho we weren’t locals. Any place that serves Glatezer wine by the glass gets my vote. We had crumbed prawns and lamb shoulder both really well cooked and good size dishes.

Out of 4 people only 1 person was satisfied with their meal. Visited Saturday night 23/10/21. The most disgusting meal was the Clubhouse Burger. Nowhere on the menu does it state that the patty is 'rare to medium'. It was not discussed when ordering so therefore I was delivered a RAW patty that was inedible and smelt of raw meat. I did not have the sauce or aioli (which I'm sure masks the 'raw' patty). The other 2 meals were the Spring pea risotto *G *V where the people eating were continually taking out twigs of Thyme ( a LOT of twigs of Thyme). The 4th meal was a schnitzel and you can't do too much wrong with a schnitzel. We will not return.

Have been to this venue a few years ago and found it to be pretty good pub fare. It has slipped SO SO much. Meal were like Pig swill, presented in a slop on the plate style. Even the chips were almost inedible as it appeared they had been cooked in old oil and someone had drenched the min salt.. Cannot even make a decent schnitzel. drowning in a foul vein clogging gravy, the meat was chewy and we took it home for the dog. I cannot believe that they asking for $30 a plate for this rubbish.

The Clubhouse (Tanunda Club) is an institution in the Barossa. It doesn't pretend to be a fancy chick venue but it does serve very good food at excellent prices. It attracts a large number of older Barossans but don't let that put you off.

Lunch on Sunday 29 December. Terrible food and service. The woman in charge was extremely unfriendly and rude. The food was dreadful - $42 for supposed ‘signature dish’ lamb blackstrap - was hard as leather and inedible. Go elsewhere.
