Great food with a large variety. Overall good experience. Lovely waitress but not great knowledge of the menu, no idea about the compliments to certain dishes. Felt like we were annoying asking lots of questions, no steak knifes.More

Amazing service! Fantastic food! A complete pleasure to dine at this restaurant. Menu has lots of options, everyone in our dining party ordered something different and none of us were disappointed. Food was wonderfully presented and cooked to perfection. Friendly staff, always smiling and very...attentive. Everyone made us feel completely at home. Gorgeous location and the ambiance is nothing less than superb. Most definitely be a repeat customer and do not hesitate to recommend to both locals and visitors alike.More
Hi Kim, thank you so much for taking the time to review our restaurant. We are so happy you had a wonderful experience with us and hope to host you all again soon! Much appreciated.
This response is from my TA login which my previous review under Wanderer27370830754 (November 2023) should have been made from. However it allows me to respond to Management's reply. I reply to Management's less than honest reply. 1. At all times I was polite to...the waitress, albeit annoyed that I had to remind her a second time that my meal was unsatisfactory. The Restaurant Manager on the other hand was abrupt and abrasive, and under such circumstances I will stand my ground, regardless if other diners (to whom I apologise) are within earshot, 2. The Thai Chilli Sauce was indeed offered by the waitress as a remedy for the meal, on the first approach, 3. The comments from the Restaurant Manager about what to do about the meal amounted to the same - the inference was that this was the way Char presents this dish, and that wasn't going to change, 4. The nuts were AWOL in this dish I was presented with, and the dressing if house made in the restaurant leaves a lot to be desired. There was a full 10 minutes between the first approach to the waitress and the reminder to her on the second mention, during which time I did not eat any more of the dish. In the meantime my partner had finished her main course. Thereafter the Restaurant Manager arrived quite promptly. At no time was a replacement meal offered as this offer would have been accepted. I did finish eating the remaining half of the exorbitantly ($38) priced Thai Beef Salad as it was clear I was not going to receive any form of recompense, whether replacement meal or discount. We decided not to order further from the menu and to leave to avoid further disappointment. Char could have spared themselves a 1/5 review rating if the response to the unsatisfactory meal had been dealt with promptly and politely, not arrogantly. An apology and an actual offer of a replacement main course (not the fictitious one mentioned in the Management response) would have resulted in a completely different review, as this would have displayed a genuine attempt to set matters right. I cannot recommend any restaurant where the staff attitude is 'the customer is wrong', which has now been backed up by the lies from Management included in the response to my review as a means to try to cover up their failings. This new review is scored the same as the original.More
Wife and I were recomended char whilst away in the barossa for an anniversary getaway. So glad I took their advice! The service staff were lovely and knowledgeable and very patient while we went through the menu and asked a lot of questions (my wife...has specific dietary needs) which meant a lot to us especially with how busy it was. We ordered dumplings and kingfish, both of which were incredible, followed by duck and king Henry pork chop. We shared a brule for desert which I strongly recommend! Wonderful experience, will definitely be back and have already recommended to friends planning on visiting the barossa. Thank you for a great eveningMore
This restaurant experience was very poor. We would not have chosen to eat here had someone not have suggested it. We had considered it the night before but had gone elsewhere. Pity we didn't do so again the second time. I was wanting something light...after a busy day. My go to is a Thai Beef Salad, so I am very familiar with this dish. What I received was Not a Thai Beef Salad. The dressing drenched over the salad tasted like it was ordinary salad dressing out of a squeeze bottle. There was no Thai anything about this dish. Not even a hint of spice or those tasty Thai flavours. It was bland. Basically a mountain - well a small hill actually - of green salad with a few beef strips hidden within. Also flavourless. No sign of tomato or capsicum or anything coloured other than green. No nuts to speak of - a good Thai salad has a good quarter cup of chopped nuts for texture. Occasionally some crispy noodles also for texture but these are optional. At $38 this dish promised much on paper and delivered so little on the plate. A comment to the waitress of my utter disappointnent initially went ignored or unheeded. A second approach yielded a higher authority coming to the table to try to defend this dish disaster, the indefensible. A somewhat prolonged discussion mid dining room about the qualities of the dish - the lack thereof - yielded no result. "What would you like me to do about it" is not an adequate response. Suggesting a healthy squeeze of Thai Chilli Sauce is also not what a diner wants to hear to rectify a failed dish. We got nowhere, cut short our meal, unfortunately our last in Tanunda, and left, wondering why we hadn't patronised a recommended restaurant further up the road. I suggest others contemplating this restaurant at the door keep walking. There are better experiences to be had elsewhere, especially if you are in the Barossa for a memorable time. Visiting this restaurant will put a dent in that. We won't be returning to Char on future visits to the area. Give this restauarant a Big Swerve.More

We had the platter but money wise is not worth that money. Food was average Food was too little for platter that cost $98.00
One of the finest steak meals I have had. Had the Wagyu Rump. Ordered medium rare cooked to perfection. Tender and tasty with a firm charred surface. The Kipfler potatoes and leak were an interesting and distinctive addition to the steak. Great selection of wines...with some great local reds. Staff friendly and efficient. A great addition to the Barossa’s great range of restaurants.More
Had a very good dinner here. Lamb rack was delicious but the ribeye steak was magnificent. Best we've had in a long time. Staff were friendly and efficient. Small range of by the glass wines. If you're here Friday or Saturday you should book. Oh...and unlike hours listed on tripadvisor, restaurant ooens at 6pm.More
Pros: - Mayura Station Steak! Phenomenal! Such a great ‘crust’ and cooked wonderfully. Generous serve of potatoes to accompany and a great price - wines are very reasonably priced - great timing on the service - comfortable setting and not too loud Cons: - I’m...sure she may be doing teaming but some very Ameture/junior service which brought down the feel of the night - music choice could have been better, felt a little bit ‘shopping mall’ - the inside of the restaurant needs an upgrade. Very early ‘2000’s’ vibe A fantastic night all around, we felt very comfortable and had a most wonderful meal. Entrees we’re a little bit pedestrian, but thankfully the steaks made up for it. Whilst I didn’t hear a review from the group, I’d steer clear of the burgers as I saw all of those in our group who had them left quite a sizable portion on their plates. Would happily return and recommend! Thanks for having us!More
Lovely restaurant, were taken by our daughter for dinner whilst in the Barossa, service was good and food spectacular. steaks were well cooked and deserts to die for. $340 for four people with drinks, main and desert
There were 6 in our group and we had an excellent meal and dining experience here. The food was fabulous, reasonably priced and delicious. The dessert tasting plate was perfect for sharing. Our waiter was also a highlight..knowledgeable, friendly, funny, areally nice person.
Excellent food . Fantastic service. Steak cooked to perfection. Loved the squid and arancini entree . Burger so tasty.
Being full on a Sunday night indicates how good the food is. We came here for dads 80th and he just loved the restaurant and ironically we both ordered the gnocchi and wow probably the best gnocchi I’ve ever had and dad said the same....I was expecting dad to order steak but he said he was so glad he got the gnocchi and he would order again Great staff and very attentive I highly recommend and would definitely returnMore
Wow what a great lunch. Scotch fillet and some sides of chips and brocolini for mains and have to say this was the best steak meal I have had for a very long time. Wait staff were so friendly and the restaurant had a great...vibe.More
My husband thought it was a good idea to go out and have dinner at Char Barossa. It has been 8 months since we were there.
