We took a couple of friends here for lunch. They had never been before. Between us we had watermelon salad, pizza, pork tacos, roast corn on the cob and wedges. Everything was so delicious. To finish it off we had their yummy cakes and coffee. My mocha was perfectly made with the best coffee. We then bought $120 worth of chocolate in the shop for the friends to take back to the UK samples of the very best hand made chocolate. Just a perfect day with great se4vice and friendly staff.

My wife and I had a chocolate and wine tasting experience which we found was a very different way to associate wine and chocolate. Not all wines were to our taste but that is why we were tasting! Our guide during the tasting was attentive, knowledgeable and able to answer all our questions. If you are a wine buff and like chocolate, this is a way to taste some nice chocolate accompanied by wines chosen to match the wine. Well worth a try.

Nice clean open air cafe with an attached chocolate shop. You can sit under umbrellas outside or on the outside cover balcony. Both have views over the dam and the breeze is refreshing. The attached chocolate shop has a wide range of different chocolates and you can see them being made. Service was good and the sandwich was value for money. Coffee and tea was good. Real cake unlike a previous place where it was just a sponge with topping. Bathrooms were modern and extremely clean. So a great place for a pit stop

I visited with a friend for a girls day out in the Barossa. Decided to have lunch in Benni’s Cafe and ordered the stone baked Big Bad Wolf Pizza to share. When it came out we knew straight away that the pizza looked underwhelming for the $26 we paid for it. The pizza base was similar to a “Tip Top bake at home pizza base” which was not fully stone baked underneath. The Tomato sago tasted like Lego’s squeeze tomato paste. The shredded leg ham and the bacon looked like processed diced ham and the salami tasted and looked like mettwurst. Sorry but this Pizza is not worth $26. My 12 year old could do a better job.

Treated disgracefully. Phoned to check if the cafe was dog-friendly. Was told yes as long as we booked a table outside on the deck. Made the booking online a number of weeks ahead but when we turned up we were told they couldn’t accommodate us as they had given our table to a large booking and moved us inside. Clearly more interested in taking the money from a large group than honouring our booking. We were left with no option other than to try to find somewhere else to eat on a public holiday weekend! To make matters worse the cafe ‘Manager’ suggested in some way it was our fault for not letting them know on the booking that we had a dog!! But you can’t and that was what the phone call was for. So if you want to support a business that cares about its customers, go elsewhere.

We really enjoyed our chocolate and wine taste pairing. Our host Ange did a wonderful job of introducing us to some lovely wines and chocolates. We then followed this up with a great lunch and bought some beautiful handmade chocolates to take home. The view, wine and chocolates and the food were fabulous. It is a great place to visit and enjoy the experience.

This was the first stop on our Barossa bus tour and we didn’t want to leave! It suited everyone on our tour who ranged in ages 86 to 30 and even our pregnant birthday girl. The choice of cheese and wine, chocolate and wine and the cordial tasters paired with our host Drew who was knowledgeable, friendly, witty and very quickly matched our level of humour started our day on a high. We purchased some delicious wines and chocolates and were spoilt the next day when we came back for coffees and cake by the lovely wait staff, one lady in particular (I’m sorry I don’t remember your name) who couldn’t do enough for us. Thanks for your hospitality. Shessas Barossa 90th.

The Barossa Valley Chocolate Co. is a lovely place to visit and buy chocolates but I probably wouldn't eat there again. The first time my partner and I visited we were with family and we all ordered lunch however our meals never arrived. The staff offered to refund our meals and still make them for us but as we were leaving we declined the offer to re-make our food. We went with a group of family again today and had lunch. My partner ordered the 'OMG burger' and I ordered the 'don't go bacon my heart' pizza. Our food did arrive this time thankfully but was average. The burger was stacked so high and so crooked that my partner had to take it apart and eat it with a knife and fork. The pizza was alright but very saucy and lacked toppings. They have a huge range of chocolates available to purchase and I would return for this aspect but would not order food again. There was also a delicious moscato available to purchase and I bought a bottle to take home. The atmosphere and location is beautiful and the staff are lovely. Definitely worth a visit! 😊

We had lunch and a wine chocolate pairing. I only rated 4 out of 5 because we thought the pizza, Veggie Mayhem could have had less cheese and more veggies. Our wine and chocolate pairing experience was really good. Elaine was fantastic and friendly guiding us through the experience. The flavours created by the different pairings were delectable and unexpected.

Not what we were expecting. A small shop and cafe with big glass window looking into a factory where the chocolates were been made. A lady wearing a Covid Marshall sticker at the cafe turned my family away because we didn’t have a reservation and because of COVID restrictions. There was no mention of making a reservation on their website, the tables were definitely not placed 1.5m apart, and patrons were not following distancing rules. We were there for 12.30 and there were plenty of free tables outside but we were told we would have to wait 45mins for those which was confusing. With 2 small children I don’t think it would have been possible to wait around. Overall, we felt unwelcome. We bought a few chocolates which were ok (we prefer Koko Black and Haigh’s for flavour and variety) and the lady serving us at the shop counter was pleasant. Upon our departure we decided to have an ice cream. We each had a different flavour. The rocky road and bubble gum flavours were not very nice. The coffee flavour was nice. There was no extra seating outside to enjoy the ice creams and scenery though. We wouldn’t recommend coming to the Barossa Valley just for this place, and in fact we felt it was a bit of a waste of time, especially been turned away from the cafe for not having a reservation. Had there been advice on their site I would have reserved a table at the cafe before visiting. I hope they update their website with correct advice to avoid disappointing further customers. My children enjoyed the chocolate, but we were all very disappointed by the experience. Instead come for the day to visit a few places and enjoy a meal in the village!

Dear CNel78 Thank you for your sharing your recent experience. I am very sorry to heat that we were unable to accommodate your family for lunch on this particular Day. Given that all hospitality venues are still trading under COIVD restrictions our Cafe fills up very quickly. Unfortunately this sometimes means that when our eating space is at capacity we are unable to seat any further guests for a period of time. I am certainly very sorry to hear that his made you feel unwelcome - we would love to be back to our full capacity and be able to accommodate everyone. I can also assure you that we are fully compliant with the distancing of our tables etc as per our covid safe plan. We have very regular checks by SAPOL and they have been very pleased with our operations even on the busiest of days. We hope that the rest of your day in the Barossa was enjoyable and we do hope that you will give us another chance in the future

I visited today at lunchtime with my kids. I had been here before, it’s a nice location with good facilities. The chocolate selection is good too. Unfortunately, I’m not happy after today’s visit. At the cafe we were encouraged to scan a QR code on the table and order from our phones, I’ve done this elsewhere with no issues. By 12pm I had my order in. 40 minutes goes by and not even our drinks have been brought to the table, and I see many people who arrived after me eating their lunch, so I ask at the counter and get told ‘sorry, your order didn’t print out’ ( so the kitchen didn’t receive it). Someone else from another table complained of the same thing. By the time I actually received my food, I’d been waiting for an hour! The place wasn’t overly busy and I had cranky, hungry children by that time, and then had to rush to eat. I understand that this ordering system is new here, but surely your staff could see that a lot of people are sitting at tables for a long time without receiving any food or drinks, it would be nice to check with customers in case something is wrong. So as much as the food was quite nice ( I had a steak sandwich), the experience was ruined as we had to wait an hour for our food. The cafe needs to sort out the ordering system, because there’s no way I’m coming back if this is how you treat your customers.

Hi there, we're sorry to hear of your experience. It is true, we are adjusting to a new contactless form of ordering and we are the first business in the Barossa to adopt this. It has been working 99% of the time, but there was an occasion on this day when it didn't go plan and it was reported that all affected customers were offered some form of compensation (e.g. free coffee/icecream) so I hope this was the case here. The staff have learnt from this experience and have been more proactive with checking on tables in particular. Since this date, we haven't had another incident where the contactless ordering system has gone down and has run smoothly. Again, we're very sorry for your particular experience and thank you for your understanding. We do hope to see you again soon. Thanks, Lachlan

Beautiful setting overlooking a lake with ducks. This is a Fabulous place to book your next family catch up. On site choclate shop and factory. You can find the perfect gift for anyone. Staff are friendly, helpful and professional. Bar area on site also. They offer wide variety of ice cream flavours to select from. Wide variety of menu options and the food was high quality. Very tasty.Lots of parking and very family friendly. The kids are given a code breaker game to find pictured items scattered on the lawn area that spell words and they are rewarded with a choclate treat. Brilliant place to book your next function. Family catch up. Highly rate this business. They truly care about your visit.

Recently did the Wine/Chocolate Tasting Experience with family members. This was excellent and we absolutely enjoyed every minute. Five wines matched to five chocolates. Chocolate (particularly dark) goes very well with red wine. The guy leading the experience was amazing and made the event. He was the right man for the job. He knew wine, he knew chocolate, was a lot of fun and in tune with people. We managed to get a few extra wines and chocolates to taste along the way. There was also a young couple with two young boys there and he gave the boys several cordials so they could have their own tasting as well as paper and colouring pencils and biscuits. Mum and Dad were left in peace to enjoy their tasting. Needless to say we went home with chocolate and wine to enjoy later. The range of chocolate they sell is amazing. We left very happy.

A great way for the non wine drinkers in our group to experience Wine and the vibe of the area. Serves of both chocolate and wine were generous and the staff attentive, professional and helpful. Unfortunately those of the group that drank wine didn’t like any of the wines which was surprising but it didn’t take away from a lovely afternoon. All of the chocolate was delicious.
