Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stopped here for lunch while driving along the coast. Didn't stop long but we got some nice items and were able to sit inside to eat. My first choice was sold out but I guess that's thing with bakeries they only cook so much. Would certianly stop by again.

A spacious bakery with plenty to offer. Got pastries and delicious cakes as well as good coffee, tea and hot chocolates. Take away or there is a good seating area to relax in. Happy, friendly staff even in busy times.

Lunchtime yet nothing is available, a whole line of people behind us too . Steak and mushroom pie was delicious apparently, nothing there for me. With no other bakery nearby open you think they would have more pies in atleast 🤷♀️🤦♀️ Vanilla slice impossible to bite so custard just spills out the side…🤗

Would be nice if the staff smiled..... impolite and non-interactive. Food was okay but nothing special. Think the customer service needs to be better.

When in Ardrossan don’t forget the country bakery in the Main Street.
I love the chunky steak, my partner swears by the pasties, it’s all good!

Saturday afternoon in Ardrossan is not a time to feel peckish. Not very much is open at all. The choice was basically the bakery. Located on First St parking is street-side and I would assume that, at peak periods, it could be hard to find. For the disabled, there is a ramp from street level to the entrance.
lt was nearing the end of trading for the day and stock was low. The inside dining was closed off and was being slowly cleaned. lt was either take-away or eat streetside. I chose the latter. The service was non-interactive at all and I got the feeling to hurry up as he wanted to be out of there. I chose a Ned Kelly pie and a vanilla milkshake as it was a warm day.
Taking my purchases, I sat at an outside table - and noted that several of them still had dishes on them and had not cleared away for a while. Found a spot and sampled the milkshake which was of a good strength and very creamy. The pie was nearly hot - as if the cabinets had been turned off and stock left for late sales. The topping of cheese and bacon was well balanced and crispy. The main meat and gravy was flavoursome and then the surprise. Ned Kelly pies always feature egg and in the middle of the pie was a whole hard-boiled egg. Pastry was flaky and buttery. Enjoyable!
As it was Australia Day long weekend, the bakery had taken initiative and utilized green and yellow in the cake icing and fillings.
The products were good, but the service really off-putting.
Return? I would seek alternative eateries in Ardrossan and use the bakery as a last resort.

Other travellers have told me about Ardrossan Bakery and I found myself standing outside, reading the accolades and pressing my nose on the window. Impressive in tomes. I ordered a takeway coffee, a cornish pasty and a light as air yeast bun with jam and cream!!! This is something I haven't seen (or eaten) before. - think its called a Kitchener Bun?? What's in a name - bloody delicious! I also tried a Ned Kelly pie on my last visit, pastry was great but I didn't like the hard yolk inside. I was hoping for a quiche type item - silly me! I will be back to try ALL the pies so that I can offer the best critique. Love the fact that they use a wood fire oven, the breads are so beautifully burnished! Watch out for the sourdough range - v nice!

As a first time visitor to this town and bakery I was suitably impressed. A great selection of hot and cold foods without going overboard and having too much. Coffee, service and seating area were all good and much enjoyed.

We started our day looking around this area with a coffee at the bakery. We had checked out the area the night before so we drove directly here. We had decided to sit and have our coffee and a bit of a read and we were pleased to see that they had a lovely large area for us to do this. We ordered our coffee and went to find a seat, we found a lovely very old lounge suite on the corner that was very comfortable. We ordered and paid for our coffees and my husband also wanted a buttered coffee scroll which they were happy to do. The prices were good, the place smelled amazing and the coffee and coffee scroll were good when we received them. When we were there it was morning tea time and the shop was very busy with tradies calling in for a snack. I think this might be a popular spot for locals.
