Where has this place been hiding, best value share menu going around the valley. The vegan pizza is like nothing I have had before and 16hr brisket just melts. Fresh paint and new foh staff, pushing Salters towards the top of a Barossa must see destination, will be back!

Delicious food. Chef even greater a special vegan meal as there wasn't anything suitable on the menu. Location is gorgeous. It's a bit noisy due to an open environment with a slate floor and the wine tasting nearby.

We met to have lunch with old friends we had not seen for a very long time.
We chose the BBQ menu - 2 salads and 2 vegetable dishes + chicken to be shared amongst us..
I am vegetarian and asked the waitress if I could have, instead of chicken (they could provide chicken for 3) a small serve of cheese for protein. The waitress went away to ask , then came back and said that the request was denied. I went to the manager (who was pleasant and reasonable) who said I could have an extra salad but I felt this would not fill me and I would not have had enough protein. I repeated that I did not want an entire platter of cheese- just a couple of slices. Finally I was able to obtain a couple of slices of cheese.
The entire meal was excellent, however, it seemed a little ridiculous that I had to ask twice to get an replacement for protein. I am pretty sure the chicken would have been more expensive than the requested small piece of cheese. Even a hard boiled egg would have been OK.
Overall , it was a lovely place and I would recommend it t o anyone.

Limited opening hours and a limited menu are a sign that the restaurant isn’t the main game here.
They offer share platters, pizza or steaks. The pizza ordered by a member of our party was delivered quickly, a reasonable size and I’m told tasted good.
The steaks came with something that looked like partly mashed potato wedges. Both steaks ordered by our group were slightly over cooked - ordered medium rare but were actually medium. Though not formally on the menu, the red wine jus was very good. Be aware the steaks don’t come with salad or veggies and these are extra. At $39 I would generally expect salad or veggies included.
But the real let down was the wine scam. At the tasting counter I was told if you dine in the restaurant you get 30% off wine ordered in the restaurant. We ordered a $38 bottle of shiraz to go with the steaks, expecting this to be $26.60. But it was listed on the bill for $38. The waitress asked me to identify the cellar door staff member who made this offer and when I did, the cellar door staff member changed her story. She first denied ever saying such a thing, then claimed the offer applied only to takeaways.
I’ll always give a business the opportunity to correct a mistake, or replace a bad meal, or make good on any other stuff up. But in this case the staff member steadfastly refused to honour what she’d said and became almost argumentative at one point.
The food here is adequate but not brilliant. Without the cellar door scam I’d give three stars.
But being lied to and ripped off all at the same time just leaves a bad taste. Unless you want a limited menu and over priced wine, avoid.
Nearby alternatives (with good service) worth considering include: Wanera Wine Bar, a tasting plate at Turkey Flat, or take the 10-12 minute drive to The Greenock.

Such a shame, share meal took an hour to arrive, really good 'catering' experience, but not a restaurant experience at all per se. No 'love' shown and ambience weird. Wine tasting was atrocious with person behind the counter not able to explain any of the wines.

Brilliant flavours with a variety of Menu options available. The emphasis is on sharing, and we chose the $35pp option which included a selection of 2 salads from a list of 7 plus 2 woodfired vegetables, also a choice of 7, and 1 selection of Barbecued Meats, also 7 options. Of course there were other more expensive options, but the quantity and quality was first class, and we ended the meal with a coffee and rocky road dessert for another $10. The staff were friendly and efficient and only too happy to meet the customer's demands. A variety of glass or bottled wine was available and we chose Mamre Brook Cab Sav 2016 vintage which complimented the meal brilliantly. We will definitely be back, up there with what we fell the Best!!

We chose the $35 sharing menu, it was really tasty and the flavors were stunning. We had the lamb which was cooked perfectly and had the potato salad and coleslaw. Potato salad was ok but the coleslaw had a real kick to it and I have been craving it since. The eggplant and broccoli were also done very well. I wound definitely recommend coming here for lunch. You also get a cob loaf to start- choose the bacon one you won’t regret it!!!!!!!

We got married here 10yrs ago. We came in for lunch on the 28th November 2019, which is exactly 10yrs to the day we got married. The food was great. The customer service could've been a little better though. When i came in and booked it a few weeks prior to the day, i was excited as it brought back so many happy memories, however the service person was a little flat and it would've been nice if they could've done something to acknowledge our Anniversary and the fact that we decided to come back on our 10th Anniversary. It was a little disappointing to be honest. We've since had 3 children since we got married and they were so excited to be there and see where we got married as we walked around and showed them everything. There was zero acknowledgment and even though i had mentioned it a few times when i booked, it was totally disregarded. In future if someone has a special event, birthday or Anniversary please please please note this as a little acknowledgment goes a long way.
Only giving 3 stars based on service.

Came here during the Christmas/New Year period when much around is closed. I guess COVID limitations and the holiday period were the cause for the the menu being a bit limited. Nevertheless, the steak was very good indeed, as was the pizza.
Suggest checking ahead for both the menu and to make a booking.

The food was simple but tasty. Great fresh ingredients. We ordered the shared lunch + wine. We sat outside and had to go in a couple of times to order, as all the waitresses were inside except when bringing out something.

This has been one of the best meals we have ever had! The menu has a small selection but offers a little of everything. The shared menu is exceptionally good value! Every item that came out was cooked to perfection & presented beautifully. (Photos were taken a bit late). Highly recommend as a special treat for any time you want a great meal with lovely staff & a nice atmosphere.

What an experience, we had done some wine tasting in the area during the day and were booked in for lunch. Staff were friendly, quick and courteous, but the food was a bit bland. The cellar door was a very nice atmosphere, historic feel and all class. The wine is very good. Maybe a little polish needed.

Having travelled from Sydney, we weren't sure what Salters was going to be like. We are SO glad that we came. The food was AMAZING and served promptly. Service was friendly, knowledgable and accommodating. Atmosphere was great with a relaxed vibe. We highly recommend Salters Kitchen and will be back here with our friends on our next trip here.

What an amzing place!!! The food is absolutely to die for. My wife and I escaped from the kids and couldn't have been happier with our choice of location, staff and food. The steak and chicken dishes we're delightful. If you get a chance stop in amd enjoy the wonderful food.

I totally enjoyed my lunch here. The menu was like my dream menu!
It’s share plates and I could have ordered one of everything.
I saw it in the entertainment book otherwise I wouldn’t have know it was there, we decided to drive 90 mins to check it out. Already planning second visit back.
