Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Went to Otherness on a recommendation. My wife and I enjoyed the best dining and wining experience we have enjoyed in Australia. Seriously!! Had the tasting plates with wine pairing. The kitchen and restaurant staff (Grant especially) offered great food and amazing pairings. Grant also...offered an insight into his wines. Put this place on your to do list.More

Outstanding service with interesting food and a very extensive wine list.Dinner was extremely enjoyable with some lovely dishes including bread with homemade butter and pumpkin soufflé. The staff in general and service was really top class and welcoming which more than made up for the...slightly utilitarian surroundings.More

One of the best dining experiences I have ever had. This place is full of love and flavour. Everything was delicious and the people who work here are so friendly and welcoming. Absolutely must dine here if you are in the Barossa

Really great food, wine and service. Loved especially the zucchini flowers and the mussels. Nice place to stop for lunch.

Unfortunately we can’t concur that Otherness is a great new addition to the Barossa food scene. Of the approximately ten dishes shared between four, we can only point to one of them that all four would repeat again - an unlikely falafel dish!!! Very good....Conversely, the ‘lamb sausage dish’ at about $30 contained a SINGLE sausage cut in half. I still cannot believe that as I type it….I repeat…..single!!! The potato dish was also very ungenerous, considering potatoes aren’t exactly like caviar prices as an ingredient!! Then the prawn dish had two pieces for $35. Suggestive sales encouraged us to ‘double up’ the dish for the four of us to $70 of the most eye wateringly poor dining value we’ve come across for a very long time. Look at the size of the prawns in the photo against the cutlery!! Perhaps it might have been forgivable if the texture had been pleasing - it wasn’t… the flesh was floury and just texturally weird!! Drinks wise - the wine selecting process was good and the range of the region’s wine is good in addition to their own. We were able to taste two years of the Riesling to see which we preferred. So food wise it just seems we have missed what others have seen in Otherness…. Certainly something ‘other’ than what we did!!More

A wonderful evening spent at this gem of a wine bar in the heart of Angaston. Thank you to Grant and the team, the wine selection was top notch as was the banter! Looking forward to our next Barossa experience and whiling away the hours...in this lovely spot 💯More

What a wonderful night. The food was brilliant and the wines both fine and interesting. What makes it memorable is the owner and master sommelier Grant. He matched one of his wines to each of our courses - but best of all was the informative...and fascinating stories of each wine. Release yourself in his capable hands. Grant and Otherness is a jewel in sleepy Angaston.More

Great wine list, super tasty food and friendly staff. A great place to have a snack or more. We started with bread and olives and kept ordering little things to try. It was fast and super tasty (restaurant quality). The place has a nice ambiance

Being lovers of white wine and particularly partial to Reisling, Otherness came highly recommended. Having spent the weekend enjoying a variety of wine tastings this one was undoubtedly the best! The wine is heavenly and Grant's passion and knowledge made the tasting fascinating and thoroughly...enjoyable. The food was delicious so an all round fabulous experience.More

This place was great for trying local produce and wine. We went for the feed me option and that was a great idea as we tried food we might not have ordered. The wine was lovely great selection and the staff were knowledgeable about it.

An unusual and v comfortable wine tasting on the Main Street - think restaurant comfort and feel with the advantage of multiple wine makers. Otherness is a collaboration with premium winemakers pushing boundaries with new blends, uncommon varieties and styles. Wonderful to see bright intelligent...young women presenting wines in The Barossa - a delightfully informed change - thank you Charlie!More

Most of the staff were amazing and very informative, friendly and personable. Food was 5 star without a doubt. We had the tasting platter for 2 $75 per person and a little over priced for what I’m used to but totally amazing food and well...worth it if you know what I mean. Awesome selection of local and interstate/international wines. There are other beverages to select from as well. Beers local and interstate. Spirits and a selection of non alcoholic drinks as well. Complimentary water, sparkling or flat. My only dislike (and this is a personal gripe of mine) while we were eating a male staff member came to collect the plates from our table! And before I’d finished my wine he’d asked if I’d like another. Keeping my glass topped up is fine, however I was buying by the glass and was changing varieties according to the dishes. Other than that it I would have given a 5 star rating. I will be back and this isn’t our first time experience @ Otherness. The first was the same.More
