Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Most of the staff were amazing and very informative, friendly and personable. Food was 5 star without a doubt. We had the tasting platter for 2 $75 per person and a little over priced for what I’m used to but totally amazing food and well worth it if you know what I mean. Awesome selection of local and interstate/international wines. There are other beverages to select from as well. Beers local and interstate. Spirits and a selection of non alcoholic drinks as well. Complimentary water, sparkling or flat. My only dislike (and this is a personal gripe of mine) while we were eating a male staff member came to collect the plates from our table! And before I’d finished my wine he’d asked if I’d like another. Keeping my glass topped up is fine, however I was buying by the glass and was changing varieties according to the dishes. Other than that it I would have given a 5 star rating. I will be back and this isn’t our first time experience @ Otherness. The first was the same.

The meal was exciting and well put together. The Bread was baked on the premises and was so good we left with a loaf. Handcrafted meats, fabulous tuna and amazing crispy skin chicken topped off with a slow cooked Lamb. What could be better? Teamed with the local wine produced by Otherness. Great food, lovely atmosphere and the service was super. Highly recommend it as a place to stop for lunch.

Went to the Barossa for 60th birthday celebrations and some fine wining and dining. We all agreed that Otherness was the best dining experience of the weekend, encompassing great atmosphere, service, food uniqueness, presentation, flavours and quality. We went for Sunday lunch and booked in again for lunch on Monday, it was that good. Many thanks to Grant and the friendly crew.

Unfortunately we can’t concur that Otherness is a great new addition to the Barossa food scene. Of the approximately ten dishes shared between four, we can only point to one of them that all four would repeat again - an unlikely falafel dish!!! Very good. Conversely, the ‘lamb sausage dish’ at about $30 contained a SINGLE sausage cut in half. I still cannot believe that as I type it….I repeat…..single!!! The potato dish was also very ungenerous, considering potatoes aren’t exactly like caviar prices as an ingredient!! Then the prawn dish had two pieces for $35. Suggestive sales encouraged us to ‘double up’ the dish for the four of us to $70 of the most eye wateringly poor dining value we’ve come across for a very long time. Look at the size of the prawns in the photo against the cutlery!! Perhaps it might have been forgivable if the texture had been pleasing - it wasn’t… the flesh was floury and just texturally weird!! Drinks wise - the wine selecting process was good and the range of the region’s wine is good in addition to their own. We were able to taste two years of the Riesling to see which we preferred. So food wise it just seems we have missed what others have seen in Otherness…. Certainly something ‘other’ than what we did!!

A great start to a weekend of wine and dine. Foodie friends, do remember the name "Otherness" and make your way to this venue in Angaston. You never know what will be on the menu as the very talented chef (previously of Fino fame) plays with whatever local fresh produce he has on hand. Just under $200 with wine for two, we did the tasting menu. I had a glass of Tamar Valley Riesling and we shared a bottle of 440 Cabernet Savignon where I picked up a nose of black olives, which owner Grant (from FermentAsian) confirmed is a characteristic from the cabernet grape grown in Tanunda.

Three of us met here for dinner on a busy Friday evening, (just as well we’d booked). The food was served tapas style and was delicious and plentiful. The wine list was excellent and we had a wonderful evening.

You can eat here on a budget. It’s Nouveau-cuisine-style sized servings, but as is often the case with this style of food, it’s a mouthful packed full of taste flavour and freshness. Totally yummy. If you are super hungry maybe order the bread, we weren’t and so four of us paid $126 without alcohol. The experience felt special and that was partly also down to the staff and the ambience. Thank you team otherness!

We chanced upon Otherness looking for lunch in the Barossa. What a find ! We enjoyed a delicious tasting menu and beautiful wines. The staff are friendly, relaxed and knowledgeable. The space is relaxed and reflects the unpretentious focus on good food, good wine and hospitality. There are lots of choices for eating in the Barossa. Otherness is up there with the best.

Went to Otherness on a recommendation. My wife and I enjoyed the best dining and wining experience we have enjoyed in Australia. Seriously!! Had the tasting plates with wine pairing. The kitchen and restaurant staff (Grant especially) offered great food and amazing pairings. Grant also offered an insight into his wines. Put this place on your to do list.

An unassuming street façade leads to gorgeous food and wines. We didn’t think we were hungry, but managed a good selection of small plates, each of which was wonderful. We enjoyed interesting chat about the range of excellent wines. This was a real taste of Barossa hospitality.

Came here after a recommendation and so glad we did. Very modern but warm and inviting place with lovely staff and many wine options including their own which are very nice may I add. But the star of the show is the food from freshly shucked coffin bay oysters to their scotch fillet which was arguably the best steak I’ve ever had. Congratulations to the chef and owners who show what skills are achievable if you set your mind to it. Well done.

What a wonderful night. The food was brilliant and the wines both fine and interesting. What makes it memorable is the owner and master sommelier Grant. He matched one of his wines to each of our courses - but best of all was the informative and fascinating stories of each wine. Release yourself in his capable hands. Grant and Otherness is a jewel in sleepy Angaston.

Grant looked after us wonderfully - shared tasting menu with wine pairing. We learnt so much and had a wonderful time. The chef beautifully accommodated the dietary restrictions of one of us. I can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough.

Had dinner at Otherness on a cold Thursday night last month. A relatively new restaurant, set in a stunning space on the main street of beautiful Angaston. The Barossa has another stunning restaurant. The menu and wine list are both fantastic, the service super professional yet laid-back & relaxed and the food was simply outstanding. Looking forward to a return visit.

Being lovers of white wine and particularly partial to Reisling, Otherness came highly recommended. Having spent the weekend enjoying a variety of wine tastings this one was undoubtedly the best! The wine is heavenly and Grant's passion and knowledge made the tasting fascinating and thoroughly enjoyable. The food was delicious so an all round fabulous experience.
