Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had dinner at the Bowls Club, and had a well cooked meal that was not overpriced and couple of drinks. I recommend the Atlantic Salmon. Although some of the ingredients on the menu were not served with the fish, it was still delicious! The...weekend had been incredibly busy, and I guess replacement stock had not arrived - it’s an island!More

We popped in here when we arrived as we were staying close by and thought we'd have a little afternoon drink. The man behind the bar was lovely and helped us with things to do on the island. We returned a night or two later...for another quiet drink and were greeted by the same man that we fondly named 'Neville' yet discovered it was Bill. Bill remembered us, asked what we had seen and done and happily chatted away. The locals were friendly and helpful also. Overall, our visits added to the fond memories we will keep of our time on Stradbroke Island.More

DO NOT GO TO THIS BOWL'S CLUB WHILE THE GIRL WITH THE BROWN HAIR WORK'S THERE. When entering the club this girl proceeded to ask if I had a mask, I pulled my mask out of my pocket and said 'yes I have one'. She...then came up to me saying that there isn't a reason to be rude, in my astonishment I said to her that all I said is that 'yes I have a mask'. She then walked over to the kitchen and said to the cook that we are a pack of 'A-holes'. We all were disgusted at her attitude and left. DO NOT GO TO THIS BOWL'S CLUB WHILE THIS RUDE GIRL WORKS THERE. NOTE TO MANAGEMENT; TERMINATE THIS PERSONS EMPLOYMENT AS SHE IS NOT GOOD FOR YOUR BUSINESS.More

We dined at The Club twice. The salads were huge made with quality produce. All the meals were excellent. Ten fold better than the front pub, no brainer to chose to dine here.

I recently spent a weekend on North Stradbroke Island, and dined both nights at the Bowls Club. It was within easy walking distance from the camping ground where I was staying, so was also convenient. The staff were all very friendly and efficient, and there...was an extensive menu, which would suit all tastes. My friend and I chose different dishes on each occasion, and were really happy with all our choices. We would certainly recommend it as a great place to dine. Great place for families as well.More

Absolutely disgusting! Not only did we get a terrible meal, the staff were rude (especially one particular woman behind the bar) no need to speak to people that want. So rude. We got burgers, can honestly say, the worst we have ever had. 😩 Very...disappointed, won't be going back.More

I never do this but after the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant, I thought it was needed so other people don't have to go through the same. I would give no stars if I could. We had a 6pm booking, the...club wasn't even a third full in the dining area. We advised the staff when we got there at 6 that we had arrived and we we're all going to all get a drink from the bar and sit outside before we sat down to order our food. They were okay with that and just said we could order the food from out there. When some of us came inside at 6:20 while the others were finishing off there drinks outside and putting the baby to sleep, they told us that we all had 5 minutes to order food or we couldn't order. We all sat down and before some of us had even looked at the menu they were taking our orders and rushing us to order everything, entrees and mains. We quickly decided and gave our orders without having a proper look at the menu. By 6:45 our entrees had arrived, we were only half the way through eating the entrees and we had gotten asked if we were ready for our mains. We asked if they could be held off as we were still eating our entrees. We we're then asked again by another staff member if we we're ready for mains. We then asked if we we're being rushed because we hadn't even finished our entrees yet. They said no we aren't and walked off. By this time there was only half a dozen other smaller tables of people in the club. Not 2 minutes later we got asked again if we wanted our mains and we asked if we could have another 15 minutes so we could finish our entrees and let them sit before getting our mains. By this stage we assumed our mains were ready and that's why they kept asking. Then another staff member came out and said our mains are ready and they will be bringing them out regardless. They brought the meals out and told us we either take them or we don't get them at all. We asked to speak to the manager. We were confronted by the chef and manager. They admitted that it was a mistake on there behalf that they let us sit outside. They then went onto tell us how other restaurants in Brisbane work and that we don't understand. Went on to make various other rude remarks and comments. We ended up deciding to leave, paid for our entrees and left. Worst experience I have had at a restaurant. Very disappointing. Will never be going back or recommending to others.More

Absolutely disgusting breakfast. Would never eat here again. Ordered two bacon and rolls which cost $20 and they were not edible, dripping with grease and fat. Surely with 4 staff they could cook to order. The only place this food belongs is in the bin....Not even worth a star rating.More

Local ingredients. The food is better than anywhere in the island. Service is...excellent. Fresh seafood and simple dishes done really well. Lots of smiles too. A huge bow to these front line workers our chefs and waiters like the two at Point Lookout.Bowling Club who continue to work long days and nights to ensure community and visitors are fed delicious meals and have a venue to go to. It is so easy to forget that things have opened up yet it is the dedicated staff working that is ensuring we can enjoy dining out. The bowls club has really stepped it up. With new chefs Casey and Gary you will experience way above average club food. It’s common at clubs to find the same old same old Dods on the menu but not at this club. They guys actually...care a lot about the menu, service and the meals served up. COVID 19 restrictions have been challenging for all businesses and this club has tried really hard to stay compliant and meet customers expectations. I highly recommend their food and their friendly service. I’m a local and wouldn’t tell you to go there unless I thought it was worth it. I eat there and reckon you won’t regret trying it out. Remember to be patient and kind. On life you get back what you give out. Go eat at the bowls club. I know you’ll love it.More
