Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great country hotel. Great food - huge serves. The young lad that served us was brilliant, so nice and polite and very attentive. Would definitely go back again.

Called in for lunch, the servings were huge good honest country pub food. We ordered the steak sandwich , the steak was a good size and very tender, and the lamb kofta burger with haloumi was delicious. I also had a schooner of their own...in house beer, I highly recommend it if you like a light pale ale style beer, mid strength and only $9.00 a schooner .More

Meals were great. Manager on the other hand was so rude and abusive after we asked for a side that we had paid for and didn't receive with the meal. Also rude when serving at the bar when ordering drinks. Will never be back

Unique venue with typical country pub food. Different outlook, rustic and interesting. We had a light lunch as part of a country drive.

arrived in time for lunch. rude bar attendant. chef not arrived yet. chef then arrived and had a smoke outside. We had a drink and then a very offensive odour sent us to our car and away. So we never got to try their food....The hotel is fabulous looking and so old and country style original and we were very very sad it turned out this way./More

Me and he enjoy pub grub and thought we’d give the Mulgowie a shot. Great reception at the bar and a willing to chat bartender/owner. Was a little surprised there was no EFTPOS facility and we had to use the ATM with transaction fees added....I don’t enjoy hot chips and it was a very generous serve. There wasn’t one left on the plate!!! Be cautious when ordering a ‘burger with the lot’ coz that’s what you’ll get. And it was delicious. I’d be surprised if they don’t make their own patties. The pineapple had been grilled and all the other ingredients were lovely. Make sure you order relish and not bbq sauce. He ordered med/rare and said it was a little on the side of med. No matter, it was tender and I had to fight him off of MY chips. All up a great meal at a very reasonable price.More

Read about this Pub in the Road Ahead and thought we would give it a try. A lovely drive there. There was a cycling race on but no hassle. There was only one other table there of about 8. Ordered a Steak Sandwich. Took about...40mins to arrive and was nearly cold and thought for what we got was very over priced. What a shame as we love little Country Pubs but don't think we will be rushing back here.More

We flew in by helicopter and landed across the road. We had a couple of beers and lunch. Our steaks were very good, perfectly cooked and the rest of the meal was also great especially the mushroom sauce. Nice country pub.

The pub may be a little out of the way for some, but the drive to get there takes you through some great Lockyer Valley farmland. The pub has a good outdoor deck, with plenty of space, covered from the elements, but still open to...breeze, so cool on a warm day. The lunch menu on Sunday is limited, but is good for the size of the pub, and the small kitchen. 6 of us all had different meals, and they came out close to each other, a good job by the kitchen/wait staff of only 2. There was only empty plates, from meals ranging from steaks to fish, and burgers, so well done. Tip though, there is no card sales for either meals or drinks, but there is an ATM there.More

This could and should be a great country pub but with a disinterested landlord and food that you could get in a truck stop it is sadly not worth the drive. How hard is it for a business to make nice food? There are plenty...of reasons why you should visit the pub but the food and a warm welcome are not in them. It's a shame as it once was a joy to visit.....More

Went to this pub to see Darryl Kiernan perform on Sunday. Just 10 minutes past Laidley. The music was great, and the meals were very good, steaks cooked just right. The only downside, is there is no mobile phone coverage out there and consequently, no...Efpos, so you need cash. Luckily they have an ATM on site. Definitely worth the drive/ride for a relaxing day in the country.More
