Pretty disappointing night out. Most items on the menu weren't available leaving only a couple of choices. The food was ordinary and the place lacked ambience.

Went here as a visitor to Ipswich to have a few brews and lunch. We arrived around 1.15pm, ordered our lunch, and bought our drinks, which were delicious. We drank our drinks and, after 30 minutes, asked how long our food would be. The waitress...said they were just being plated up, so we ordered another drink, 10 minutes later, still nothing. We asked again. Oh, they will be starting them shortly. really......... well, after an hour, we asked again and were told they were in their way. We decided to ask for a refund on our food. Which we got. It's a nice place, but we won't be back for food. Recommend the Ginger Beer.More

This was a lovely lunch experience, although I don't agree with not having table service, but this seems to be the way of the world at the moment. This did spoil my dining experience as I could fully relax. The dishes we ordered came out...one at a time so that meant, one of my party had finished their meal as I had started mine, we didn't actually eat all together. Apart from that it was fun.More

What an experience tonight was! We (three) went down for dinner and a beer after several visits to Ipswich. And it was brilliant. Often, we hear a lot about teams, but tonight we saw a team working hard and well and working together. Everything was...spot on. Service, attention, patience, tolerance, quality, flexibility! There was a lot of people in the bar and the team were so friendly and welcoming - such a rare experience. Our meals were spot on.. we could see the Chef and his team were under the pump, but our meals were everything and more than they were described in the menu. So, we will be back. Nathan, please give all of your team a big ‘well done’ after tonight! We three were mightily impressed!More

Absolutely horrified by the treatment we just received!! A severe storm struck as we were just sitting down for lunch. We went to the nearest covered area to ride it out only to have a staff member rush in during the worse part of the...storm forcing us out of the shelter (including our 9 month old baby) into drenching rain and worse. Everyone was also told that we couldn't sit at the tables because they were "reserved". Absolutely disgusted with the staff and treatment. Our little man got soaked and so did we! 👎. We'll never be back and I won't be buying any of your products from retailers ever again!! 🖕🫵More

Overpriced, undelivered, pushed out the door, last drinks at 839pm, 18th bday and $20 to bring out the cake on aluminium plates . Not a welcoming experience or substantial food.

First appearances were impressive. The setting gives The Pumpyard Brewery an ambience that is more deserving of venue a lot more upscale. Once settled you order from the laminated menus – a selection of fast-food types of meal – then join the queue to place...your order, pay, and take your table number paddle back to your table. Drinks are purchased separately from the next queue at the bar. (There was once table service going by previous reviews . Queuing to order and pay is something you might expect at Maccas and KFC but it’s a surprise at ‘restaurant’ that advertises and aesthetically presents as upmarket.) We had booked on a Friday morning for a table for three for 7:00p.m. Saturday evening. The Pumpyard booking portal nowbookit.com accepted the booking for that time and date – the inference being that there must be a table available at that time. When all three of us arrived together on the dot of 7:00p.m. we were shown to bar stools at a small pub table (50cm table top) – outside of the dining area, on a slightly sloping pathway, and adjoining the alleyway entrance. A DINNER booking for THREE people would suggest THREE place settings would be involved plus drinks…with the necessary space for everyone to eat at the same time, not a table so small it would only just accommodate a meal for one. We pointed that out. And the fact that perching on bar stools for dinner at our age (late Sixties) didn’t promise to be an enjoyable experience. We were asked to wait until a table became available. Isn’t the purpose of going through the online process of booking, confirming, receiving TXT reminders of the booking etc. supposed to actually BOOK A TABLE? (If there isn’t actually a table available at the selected time, isn’t the ‘booking system’ supposed to indicate that?) We were left standing in a drafty alley so moved into a sheltered area and waited for 20 mins or so. Went back to the book-in and explained that we were checking back in for our 7:00 p.m. booking – and were shown to a real dining table in the restaurant section. Well after 7:30 p.m. by this time I went to the counter to place the order for the meals and pay, then over to the bar to buy drinks for the table. There was no provision nor offer of a tray to carry a jug of beer and glass, a jug of water and glass, and a cocktail back to the table. Left the water jug and glass on the bar and went back for it. After waiting around 45 minutes with no sign of food, a staff member was asked how far away our orders were. About 30 minutes away was the answer. Nothing had landed on the table at that point that hadn’t already been paid for so we asked if we could get a refund. The staff member said she would ask the manager. She returned a few minutes later and said our meals had been moved up in the queue – but no refund was offered. (Don’t know why we were not refunded. A review on Google said “We got a refund, left and had a lovely lunch elsewhere.” Another Google review said “People at a couple of tables left to go somewhere else for food.” ) By this time we were surrounded by empty tables in our section of the dining area – as the photos taken on the night show. As for the food when it finally arrived…we decided we’ve had meals at fast food restaurants that were better cooked and better value for money. If you’d enjoy an experience that combines a US style of downmarket diner with Fawlty Towers service, you’ll love the Pumpyard in Ipswich Qld. Another reviewer wrote about their own bad experience at The Pumphouse “I hope this was a one off because there’s not much else in the way of nice food in Ipswich.” ‘Not much else…’ would explain why, when we arrived, this place was packed (and incredibly noisy) inside. It would be interesting to know if everyone who was there when we arrived on the night had booked – or if the establishment just fills tables as people arrive regardless of reservations. Also noted on the website a $25.00 per head penalty in certain circumstances if people don’t turn up for booked reservations. Notably The Pumpyard is not prepared to provide an equitable compensation, nor even honour the request for a refund before a meal is even sighted, when they do a similar thing to customers. That is heartless!More

Sat and waited for food to arrive for over 45 minutes. Not a problem as we were in no rush and thought the food should be freshly cooked! How wrong we were... my husband couldn't eat his cold burger and fries... and my burger was...warm but cold fries! I asked my husband not to complain whilst I was eating. On departure we mentioned to the male waiter that the food was disgusting and that my husband wasn't able to finish his burger... which was clearly still on his plate. The response from the waiter was unbelievable! No apology... just that we should of complained earlier? ! Never again! THIS PLACE IS A HEALTH HAZARD!More

Family group, varied tastes and we ordered a variety of dishes and drinks. My fish tacos I'll score a 4, were quite good and I enjoyed them. I sampled a slider and the meat was just too dry....overdone, not good enough sadly. Burger eaters and...pizza eaters in the group all said their food was good, but nothing special. Mention also made of meats being a bit dry Fries were great, service was all over the shop (apparently their serving counter warming lights weren't working so they were bringing food out very haphazardly. Cleanliess - a big fail. Not cleaning or wiping down tables. Blow flies hanging around past customers unfinished food. Took them an hour before one table was cleaned off Ginger beer - very good. Beers, no-one complained. Would I go back? Hmmm, yes as the atmosphere and setting was great and perhaps we just got them on a bad day, but I'd only give them one more chance!More

Staff are friendly and courteous and efficient at clearing/cleaning the tables. Reasonable prices with plenty of offstreet parking available....It was wonderful to be outside catching up with friends in a warm yet relaxing environment. Tried a couple of beers and had a plate of chips. Good chips. Tipped the beer into the garden. Tried Single Hopped Pale on tap and Mango Lychee Pale in a can. Both smelt bad and had an awful after taste? Like they were off....I would say too long in the can if one hadn't been on top. Won't be buying their beer again.More
