We went out to Litchfield for a day trip and stopped at the Butterfly Farm for about an hour or two. Kids had a great time wondering through and seeing all the animals. They loved being able to feed carrots to the animals and get...up close to them.More
Spent two nights here with family we had 3 cabins
Owners and staff were very friendly & welcoming
The layout of accommodation is very eclectic but in good way. The animal farm kept the kids occupied.
The restaurant food was excellent
The eating deck was...cool and relaxing
Rooms are spacious and fine for 3 star what you would expect of 3 star facilities
This isn’t your run of the mill boring caravan park cabins, if that what you like then don’t come here
We enjoyed our stay and even had to go say thank you & goodbye when we left as we were made to feel welcomed and felt bad just walking outMore
We choose to stay here for one night based on the uniqueness of the property. We enjoyed a comfortable sleep with the windows open and fan on, no need for the airconditioner on this particular evening. The grounds however were quite unkept and jungle-like which...did not appeal to our daughter. She actually has a phobia of spiders so upon seeing the property and the neighbouring spider in the web in the garden, she had a 17 year-old meltdown lasting several hours until she finally recovered. Even I felt a little uneasy walking around the gardens. The ten-or-so rabbits though looked so healthy and well cared. There were only a small number of butterflies around, due to the enclosure sustaining a hole in the netting during a storm.
We did not eat at the venue. We had eaten dinner in Batchelor and returned to sleep at about 7pm. The restaurant was closed and completely dark. We were the only people booked in at the property. I needed to hunt around for some extra towels as there were only two left in our room (for four people). I found some hanging under a verandah near the restaurant.
We didn't swim in the pool, it didn't look very inviting.More
Stopped in to see the butterflies in action. Came during the wrong season for the butterflies, but can see that at the right time of year the enclosure would be teaming with them. $12 gets you adult entry to the whole area including the butterflies...and a bowl of carrots to feed the cute bunnies. There are pigs, goats and chickens also. They serve meals and have accommodation but we didn't use any of those facilities.More
My boys weren’t too sure about going to a “Butterfly Farm” but really enjoyed the animal interaction and experience this had to offer. Crazy Chris has made this place his life’s work - and it’s amazing. The butterflies were just beautiful and it was a...peaceful place to just sit and be. There were also an array of other animals - including bunnies, which as Queenslanders don’t get to see - let alone cuddle! There’s a cafe/restaurant and accommodation too - and well worth the visit (and reasonable entry too) 😀😀More
We were excited to try the Asian cuisine on our first nights stay. Although cheesy garlic bread is not Asian, we ordered this as an entry knowing the children would enjoy it. It was toast, no garlic and a slice of cheese grilled.
The kids...spaghetti had an unusual flavour to it. The adult mains were buffalo vindaloo which was OK and garlic prawns which were good - a sauce to accompany the prawns would have been good given the serving of rice. The mains came with a lovely side salad which was nice.More
