Basically any place that has cucumber dill dressing gets an A in my book! The food was really tasty. My chicken and dumplings could have used just a touch of salt. There isn't any on the table and I didn't want to offend the chef...More

The Speckled Trout has been in Blowing Rock since I started visiting 35 years ago. Over time we stopped going because it was simply tired. Old menu, worn out furnishings, less than enthusiastic wait staff. Well that has all changed. Under new management and I...More

Very good food and a great craft beer selection...great taps and a cooler with plenty of variety...they don't quite have the Tap room atmosphere going yet but they're headed in the right direction! People who worked there were very helpful, too!

A potentially great addition to Blowing Rock. The decor and service were both great. The flavors were fine. But here are the minuses that resulted in only a "3"-- * With a small lunch crowd, time from order to service was long--over 20 minutes. What...More

The Speckled Trout is a new restaurant in refurbished premises. It has a simple and traditional feel to it, and the menu, sourced from local ingredients, matches this concept. Service was efficient and personable. I tried hard to like the food but in the end...More

Stayed one night in Blowing Rock while driving the Blue Ridge Parkway. I chose to dine at The Speckled Trout solely based on its name as I had found myself eating trout each night on the trip. What a great choice! Turned out to be...More

So glad you stopped in and had such a great experience. On your next trip up we hope you'll spend some time in the Bottle Shop and fill up a 32 oz growler, or 2, to take on your travels.

Located in downtown Blowing Rock- on the corner of Main Street and 221- is the newly renovated and reinvented restaurant and bottle shop. We explore the roots of Appalachian food and beverage culture, and recreate it in our kitchen by preserving and reviving ingredients of our local heritage. To accompany the celebration of our regional dishes, our new beverage program focuses on terroir driven libations. The term terroir evokes a sense of place, and in our shop this is evident in everything we do. The bottle shop emphasizes traditions of fermentation practices by offering some of the best “home-grown” beers and ciders around. In addition, our wines highlight small producers from old world to new.
