Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Good eastern food at a reasonable price in a town rather lacking in eateries, though our expert on malay cuisine felt that the satay did not rise to the standard of the thai dishes the other two us had. Good beer selection, too. But the restaurant's biggest asset is Ron, its droll proprieter, maite d' and husband of the chef, who banteted very pleasingly and gave very sound tourist advice which helped us in our travels the next day.

The staff was nice and friendly and easy going which is always good when ordering food that way.
The service was quick so we didn't wait long before we actually started to eat.
We had burgers a general beef burger and a general chicken burger with chips. The burgers were nicely cooked but could have done with more sauce on the burger as they were rather dry, the cheese also just sat on top of all the salad without being melted. The chips were a little floppy and could have been a bit longer cooked to crisp them up more.
Although we didn't have a curry the table beside us did and looking at it it seemed much better than the burger. Wish we had known that before ordering.
I was rather shocked to see that in the evenings the price of everything goes up by 2 aus, not sure if this is normal or just a Walpole thing.

Visiting Walpole for the first time and first meal in town . The meals were huge . Had the Filipino Magic Curry bloody fantastic. So much flavour and spice . Steak was cooked perfect and the kids meals were large and filled the kids up . Will definitely be back before heading back to Perth .

Possibly the most flavourless Asian food I have ever tasted!! Expensive, very little meat in both the beef noddles and the chicken friend rice, obviously used frozen veg that were not completely cooked through, noddles were so soggy and watery with no flavour, rice was stale.
Even the children’s toastiest were flavourless, no sauce and plastic cheese.
The 2 only thing this place had going for it was how quick the food came out and hot chips. Everything else was a fail.

We were just passingby Walpole when we decided to stop over for lunch. We were so happy to see a filo resto and have been talking a lot on what to order. We even took pictures outside the place. When we came in, the setup looks decent (nothing special) then when we checked the menu. We were puzzled as we dont see any filo foods. The special adobo meal was only written on a board outside, there was curry and some filo breakky meal which unfortunately can only be served until 11am. There is not much option so we opt to try the adobo. When we asked how much, they said it was $34 per serving! (We only ordered one so we can just share and try it. Others, ordered some burgers and chicken.
The adobo was in a big plate and a rice. Since we are also filos we know and we are very familiar with adobo. Upon smelling, we immediately know it was salty. And we were not wrong, when we tried a piece I had to cough few times cos it was too salty and the meat wasnt tender.
When one of us tried to talk to the tall guy on the counter (we assumed is the owner), he looked snob and didnt respond well.
This restaurant shouldnt be called Philippine magic. Nothing in this place is magical. Doesnt justify or respect the culture and delicacies of the Philippines.
toilets are disgusting.
Customer service is disappointing
Prices are too expensive for the kind of food they serve
They should make a major revamp on the menu. We will NEVER visit this place again👎👎👎

The comments and ratings for this place do not match my experience. I had high hopes given the reviews and was expecting it to be on the expensive side given its a country town. It was more on the expensive side which was fine and they allowed dogs which is great but the food was either lacking taste or only 5 pieces of squid amongst some chips

After a long drive down from Perth we arrived in Walpole late (7.15 ish) on a Monday evening. The only place open for food was the Philippine Magic Café, I wish the cafe wasn’t open as there was nothing ‘magic’ about it! The fish tasted as though it had been cooked twice over a couple of days and shoved in a tepid food warmer for another couple of days, it was like shoe leather only less appetising, a Mastiff would have struggled to get through it. Not inexpensive either, Macca’s and HJ’s is positively fine cuisine and value for money compared to the not-so-magic Las Islas Filipinas café. My advice, if faced with the choice of going hungry or being fleeced, go hungry and fill your face in the morning when the IGA store opens.

We called in to this little gem along the way for a quick lunch on our recent holiday road trip, travelling from Denmark to Busselton. A quaint, traditional Australian, country style weatherboard home, converted to a cafe/eatery, complete with covered verandah area out front to sit and watch the passing traffic, or choose from one of the separate rooms inside where you could find a quiet corner to enjoy your meal and refreshment.
Fabulous meals served up with a good dose of “tongue in cheek” good natured, Aussie humour from the “full of character” owner/proprietor.
Hubby chose the calamari and chips. Big, fat, tender, juicy chunks of freshly fried calamari that had been dipped in a light salt and pepper batter, fried to a rich golden colour, resulting in a light crunchy texture. Served up with the cursory side of chips, these weren’t just your usual standard kind of boring, limp, soggy and dry kind of chips…these chips were amazing! They were near on perfect! Freshly made, lightly salted, crunchy on the outside, soft and moist on the inside, with not even a hint of dryness whatsoever. A side salad that defied all reference to the label “side”, laden with fresh, juicy, crunchy pieces of colourful salad leaves and veges and doused in a tangy balsamic dressing with just the right amount of “dousing”, minus the usual “drowning” method. I ordered a simple ham cheese and tomatoe toasted sandwich. This sandwich was anything BUT simple…the word “simple” doesn’t come close to describing this bountiful treat! It was magnificent! Generously stuffed with copious amounts of ham, the right amount of cheese and fresh slices of tomatoe that you could actually see, AND taste. Lightly toasted to the perfect cheese melting point, allowing the cheese to ooze into every nook and crevice of the folded ham and in between the layered tomatoes inside. Delicious beyond words! All the above washed down with a hot pot of leaf tea, and a traditional, icy cold strawberry milkshake with all the trimmings of malt and ice cream.
A fantastic treat to add to our many wonderful experiences during our recent holiday in the south west of Western Australia.
Do yourself a favour and try this gorgeous little cafe if you ever find yourself in Walpole WA. We highly recommend it!

The food at this restaurant has much to commend it. There's an extensive menu, which includes a wide range of Asian food as well as the usual staple offerings. I had the Mongolian beef and my girlfriend had Thai chicken curry, both dishes tasted very good and were nicely presented. However the meal was less enjoyable than it should have been, for 2 reasons. Firstly the place was uncomfortably cold, with the front door propped wide open and no heating that we could discern. The temperature outside was 12°C with the "real feel" being 8°C according to my weather app.
Secondly the food took 45 minutes to arrive after we'd placed our order.
So I can't give it more than 3 stars, sadly, although the food was very good.

On our last day in Walpole booked in for dinner and were pleasantly surprised by the quality and size of the meals My wife Indian chicken curry which she said was aromatic and delicious, vegetables beautifully crisp. I went for the pork ribs chips & salad. Have to say some of the best pork ribs I have eaten - melt in your mouth and not over powered by the sauce. would recommend

We really enjoyed our dinner. Stir-fried noodles & chicken + salmon, chips & salad were delicious. Owner extremely friendly. Various beers, ciders and ginger beer available. House white wine was super tasty.

Great food and coffee. Value for money.
We've been past numerous times, and it's always busy.
When you ask for a mug of coffee, it's a very big mug! You don't have to ask for an extra hot as it's full of flavour.
My husband had a big breakfast, which was plentiful. I had the Philippino breakfast, which was a nasi goreng style rice. So much I asked for a takeaway container. It was too tasty to waste.
Lovely family run business. We'll be back.

There is a very good reason why it is called the Philippine MAGIC Cafe (PMC), because it truly is MAGIC. We went there for breakfast and dinner and had takeaway lunches twice and the food & coffee were always superb. The hosts Ron & Gina are not only very capable, but also humble and great hosts. Even during a 24 hour power black-out, they managed to provide a sensational dinner for us and about 20 others. Together with a great location and lovely ambience, the PMC was the highlight of our trip.

Not sure what the price of food is in the area but it surely doesn't justify the price for the food that is served up. We had the vegetarian noodles and the buffalo chicken wings.
Thete was plenty of food but both were lacking any spice. The noodles were OK bit like an old fashioned Chinese meal. The wings were tender and tasty but the only spice you got was from the side of sweet chili sauce. Maybe our selection wasn't the best to highlight Filipino cooking.
The owners are very helpful and it is a nice spot.
