A bit pricier than Perth hence the 3star rating however the battered fish was tasty and well cooked. They could reduce the price by reducing the chips serve by half. We ordered 1 fish and chips with an extra piece of fish. For two we had too many chips

Thanks for the feedback Susanne & glad to hear you enjoyed your meal. Unfortunately our freight costs to get anything (particularly chips) to such a remote location as Exmouth is ridiculously expensive so we have to pass that on to our customers. There is a 1 person chip option (1/2 serve) but I think perhaps the crew out the back might have been feeling a little generous that evening!! Hope to see you again sometime. Cheers.

We ordered 2 goldband snapper, chips for 2 and a pineapple fritter. It was delicious, the staff were really friendly and were happy to wrap my pineapple fritter separately (I don't want the pineapple flavour or smell on my fish and chips) which I appreciated. Fully recommend.

Amazing chips and potato cakes!
The fish was good but we had a few little issues. We asked for grilled and got bartered, we asked for chicken salt and got no salt on our chips. The spring roll was still cold in the middle, and the fish was pretty dry.
We would have come back as we are just staying up the road, but we were so hungry that we just ate it anyway
The staff were amazing and all polite, a busy little spot on a Friday night with a 40 min wait - suited us fine as we grabbed a drink around the corner

Went to buy fish and chips for a takeaway dinner.
Surprised to find that the chips were sold separately—cost an extra $9.
Pretty expensive, and more chips than required, presumably to justify the high price. (The seagulls appreciated the leftovers.)
I'd rather buy fish and chips (a reasonable portion, not gigantic) for an all-in price.
My local shop sells hake and chips (more than enough) for $11, or hake on its own for $9—so I guess that makes the chips worth $2.

Hi John O. We have played with different combinations however have found that, as there are actually a lot of people who either do not want any chips at all or would prefer a 1 person serve between 2, that this is the best formula. Our hake is only $10 per serve & the chips $3, so each item is in fact only $1 more than your local shop which, considering our freight costs - particularly on chips! - we have tried to keep it as low as possible. We usually recommend a $3 serve of chips per person, however many people opt for a smaller amount if they are not big chip eaters, so you can have just a $6 serve if you wish. Having the choice seems to work very well for most people & unfortunately, as mentioned, our freight costs to get anything to Exmouth are astronomical so it must be expected that we will be more expensive than a shop in Perth. In saying that, if you were to order 3 x Hake & chips for 2 people, it would only cost $36 ($12 each) - not too bad for dinner for 3 adults, especially somewhere as remote as Exmouth!

Blue Lips was unexpectedly delightful. The shop was homely and familiar and the food was humble but delicious.
It’s the kind of place you could imagine being your weekend local takeaway joint, somewhere consistent, classic, and just what you need.
You can’t sook about the price, not when you consider the quality of the seafood and the transport of other produce. Absolutely nailed this place, they have the perfect local hideaway.

Last night in Exmouth and we thought hey ,why not grab fish and chips and eat them on the Towns beach . So we found this place on trip advisor to give it a whirl . Beautiful night at the beach and we got stuck into the handmade potato cakes , geees they were sensational .
But the fishermen’s basket for 2 was terrible . Crumbed squid rings were definitely not fresh , seafood sticks ( well they should never be in a fisherman’s basket ) prawn cutlets ok , the fish was dry and un edible with at least a cm thick batter . The chips weren’t even cooked. Was soooo devastated, no one should pay $40 odd dollars for what we received . Fed 3/4 of it to the sea gulls . Just be wary and ask questions, what is fresh or not and how olds the fish and how u like it cooked. Don’t want a ruined dinner like ours.

Hi LDG. Yes, the potato cakes are sensational as you say! I'm glad you enjoyed them so much!!
As for the rest of your meal, I'm so sorry you did not enjoy it! Yes, our squid rings are frozen as the volume we go thru is more than we could possibly process in house. This is also reflected in the price. As for the Crab Sticks, these are EXTREMELY popular on our menu & usually a staple part of any traditional Fisherman's Basket; it is outlined quite clearly on the menu that these are included... Our batter is usually crisp & thin & cracks when you flick it so I can only assume perhaps you didn't pick your meal up when it was ready? Again, our sincere apologies & if you are back in town we would love the opportunity to rectify this for you sometime.

Min order of chips is $6 according to sign, which is way too much for 2 average people. Fish was a bit dry and didn't tast great, had snapper and Spanish mackeral. Chips just tasted of oil as there bright yellow. Was maybe over expecting a little but disappointed.

Visited BlueLips fish and chips in June 2020 just after covid lockdown restrictions were lifted. Had the mackerel which was fresh, and cooked perfectly in a seafood basket. Friendly staff, and quick service. Good value for money, and will definitely call again on our next visit to Exmouth

The food was good but the amount of fish we got for our $16 was a little bit underwhelming. Customer service was disappointing and the wait was long and then they forgot to give us the salad which we had to drive back for.
They were also ready to close up at 8pm on a Friday night which we thought was unusual for a Friday night at Christmas time.

Spent almost $100 and most of the fish and chips and extras were thrown out. The fish was covered in a thick batter, there was more batter than fish. The batter was so thick that it was a goey soft dough on the inside. The pieces of fish were very small. The chips were a bright yellow colour with not a grain of salt on them, even though we'd asked for salt and vinegar. The salt and pepper squid was covered in a heavy thick batter. The pineapple fritters were also covered in a heavy batter. Such a disappointing meal and an absolute waste of money.

This was honestly probably the best fish and chips I've ever eaten in my life, especially the potato cakes omg so amazing. However, we did call to make a phone order and they put us on hold for a good 5 minutes and we could hear them laughing and singing on the line, so we went in person and when we got there they definitely weren't too busy to answer our call, I think they just couldn't be bothered taking the online call. They were nice when we ordered in the store but a bit of a letdown. Regardless the food was unreal and would definitely go back because it was worth it.

Unfortunately when the staff put the phone on hold to serve someone in the shop, they sometimes have forgotten to go back to the call 🤦♀️ Definitely no excuse, especially when not flat stick busy (like it can be) & something that I will make sure the new staff are well on top of as I totally understand how frustrating that can be! I'm so happy the food was great tho & look forward to your next phone order being met with way better service! Take care

We bought fish & chips for 1 and souvlaki for 1. Told wait time was 40 minutes. Waited nearly an hour and when we finally got it the souvlaki was cold, chips were cold and soggy. The only thing hot was the fish. Ordered snapper but doubt is was that. Had taken it home so couldn’t go in and complain. Had to heat the souvlaki in the microwave to make it palatable. Never again.

Yummy crisp fish and chips, best potato cakes. Be prepared to wait and pre order, took an hour but we knew it would be busy and phoned our order in. The only thing was my friend ordered for both of us, two families at the same time but the orders came out about 20 mins apart but it was peak dinner time. Regardless, it was worth the wait, super yummy fish, we had a variety and they were all good. Generous chips, onion rings were a bit soggy but the potato cakes were deep fried goodness. Would return and recommend. Thankyou!

We bought takeaway grilled red emperor and minimum chips one night , during a visit to Exmouth.
The fish was fresh , but unfortunately a bit overcooked and a little dry.
The minimum order of chips were delicious and there were heaps of them ( we couldn't eat them all ).
The young man taking the orders , was friendly and efficient.
They are very busy , so order early.

I'm not sure which fish you had as we don't actually serve Red Emperor, so perhaps that made a difference to the texture to what you were expecting? Fresh fish IS all about Exmouth, and when this classic staple dish is served with locally caught fish, it will be really good. And it was.
