Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This restaurant is located just out of the town of Denmark in the nearby hills. It has a beautiful location and provides the most delicious and plentiful platters for meals. It is a perfect spot to celebrate a special occasion such as Valentine's Day.

We dropped in for lunch and the restaurant was full, but there were multiple picnic tables available. Instead of offering a cheese board or a simple picnic basket with a bottle of wine (or 2 if we were still enjoying ourselves) they regrettably denied us...service - there goes $60 to $150 of opportunity to make a sale. Best you review your business model guys!More

Thank you for visiting. Our sincere apology that you couldn’t get a table as we hate turning people away. However this is done based on our staffing levels (especially in the kitchen) and what they can cope with not on if we actually have tables...More

The Lake House continues to be one of our favourite dining places to take visitors to, and when my wife and I want a romantic treat. The food is continuing to be tweaked and improved. The wines are still too expensive for the quality they...are, unfortunately. But the location is superb. Gorgeous gardens, fantastic staff and a very tasty plate, such as the Madison, make the whole leisurely dining experience one to remember. But I think there are further improvements that can be made. More work on the mustards would be nice, an introduction of a chilly meat or chilly pickled muscle would compliment the platter nicely. A cream cheese filled pickled capsicum too would compliment the platter - it has a lovely selection of pickled items. Maybe even a pickled jalapeno? The Lake House is highly recommended. Just don't be in a hurry. Book ahead and enjoy the taste sensations, a nice wine, and fantastic ambience.More

Nice selection of share-it platters for a relaxed holiday afternoon lunch. Generous serves so a platter for two is enough for three. Plenty of greens, cheeses and dips. And a really convenient highlight is being able to hop next door for some wine tasting too,...so it can be ordered with the meal. We found the Postcard Riesling suited the salmon and chicken in our platter, although there is a bit of a markup when served at the restaurant. Nice setting where-ever you sit, service always prompt, professional and friendly. Enjoy!More

The Lakes Restaurant is absolutely fantastic. It is situated in such a beautiful setting. The customer service and delicious food, far exceeded anything we have been given in the scenic Scotsdale area. The warm greeting upon arrival was perfection. Attentive staff, who go above and...beyond to make your experience so good that you will definitely come back again and again. The view over the lake from the verandah is spectacular. We chose the two course meal option with Platter for two and a dessert. It was superb. The freshness of the food, presentation and the tastes in every bite were amazing. We did not leave a crumb! We ordered dessert and the sticky date pudding and hazelnut cake delicious, massive portions and delivered with cream and ice cream should you choose! The lovely ice cold glasses filled on a hot day were very welcome. The abundance of nature surrounding the Lakes Restaurant is spectacular. While we were eating our lunch, two Denmark's Blue Wren birds, danced around in front of our table in the most delightful setting. Kookaburras in the trees and wildlife in abundance around the property. A beautiful bright yellow Californian poppy plant, amongst various fragrant blooms of roses and bursts of colour surround this amazing lake. There are also lovely native Australian plants including a pink bottle brush plant. It all added to the picturesque views across the lake in a peaceful setting. We wandered around the property after lunch and down to the decking area which overlooks the lake. It is spectacular with vineyards in the distance. We visited on a Wednesday and did not book. However, we suggest booking to avoid disappointment as they do get busy. We were treated like royalty. Thank you so much for making our afternoon extra special. We have been back twice, and cannot wait to come back and do it all again.More

Extremely accommodating on a gloomy day with our dog. We were sat under the verandah snuggly in the corner. Platters were delicious and enormous and sooo good.

We were on holiday in Denmark and booked our lunch at Lake House for our anniversary. The menu listed platters and we decided to go for the Madison platter for three. It was really good and tasty with a variety of dishes. The weather wasn't...great so we booked for indoor seating, but when better weather outdoor looks really good.More

Location as always very pleasant over-looking the lake BUT platters are a little bit disappointing compared to others in the area. Scoring 3 for the view but sadly the quality has dropped since my last visit. Staff as always however are lovely.

The set up was pleasant over-looking the lake but the food, essentially a number of platters were grossly over-priced for less than average quality. Disappointing and achieved a three only because of the view

We were a very large group over 40 people. We knew that getting a table for lunch was going to be impossible but we rang and were told we could sit out on the lawn, there was no service out there all drinks/food would have...to be purchased inside. We were fine with that and we asked if there were any platters left for purchase and were told there were only 3 platters available. We asked if it was ok to bring snacks and were told that was fine but no alcohol, again all good! We were all enjoying our picnic when the manager a young lady came storming out and yelling at us. One of our friends had opened a beer can (he didn’t hear the big about no alcohol) he apologized and put the can away. Off the manager then went. Approx 10 mins later the manager stormed back out yelling and telling us to put our snacks away or leave!! We tried to talk to her calmly about us ringing prior and actually asking the question but we were met with further hostility!! The manager was one of the rudest ladies I have ever met and we were so disappointed about how we were treated during our visit that we will not be back. What a shame because they have beautiful wine and such a wonderful garden .More

We were excited to visit the Lakehouse but the experience was poor. The food was very average as was the service. The toilets were filthy which is not acceptable in a fine dining establishment. Very disappointing also having spent a considerable sum in the restaurant...to be charged for a tasting. We declined. We visited two other wineries in the region & weren’t charged anything. On the plus side the setting & the gardens were very beautiful.More

Nice garden setting for a casual lunch. Nice produce. Thought a bit over priced though. The cacciatore sausage was really nice. Worth a visit if you feel like a casual lunch in a nice setting.

What more could one want? A superb casual lunch next to a beautiful garden and a lake on a lovely summer's day? Of the range of shared platters, we ordered the gourmet platter for two. A large and delightful variety of tasty food, beautifully presented...and including marinated prawns, smoked chicken, ham, frittata, salad, cheese and a range of the Vino Foods relishes and pickles that are produced on site. Unfortunately I was too "full" after the platter to have dessert! A visit to"The Shed" where they sell their wines, the Vino Foods products and other items rounded off a perfect day!More
