While staying in Santiago, we had a day where not much was planned so we took a train ride out to Talca. After walking around the town we were able to find out that the place was not within walking distance of the train station or shopping strip. We took a taxi to the place which is located on the... It is a hard place to understand if you are a foreigner: just sit down and wave so someone stops to take your order. It is pinctoresque, indeed, but food is way too greasy for my taste. Portions are huge, place is messy, very VERY anoying gentleman playing live music with a radio recorder. An interesting place, but nothing out... More

The name of this place would be translated as "dirty old ladies", but can't be farest from reality (I hope!!), this is a very typical place in Talca, not easy to find (just beside the river but without a sign). You can find all the classic dishes, but you can't miss the "chancho en piedra" and "sopaipillas" as an entree.... More

Though a very popular and typically Talquina restaurant with a good atmosphere, reflecting the artisan culinary tradition of Maule, over the last few years from been a place of consistently served good food ,the management has some what took the eyes off the ball. These days the quality of food and the customer can be some what random. Where some... More

Great local food in a good local hangout.--offers smoking/no smoking areas--this is not a fancy place, but the pollo mariscal (chicken/shellfish stew) is about the best available in this area...very informal and somewhat rustic, but comfortable and very reliable food.

The origin of this name is quite interesting: this restaurant was known as "La Chelita". When people came to the area where it is still located, they asked in the restaurant which was (and maybe is) next door about whether that restaurant was "La Chelita", and the owners of that other restaurant, a bit frustrated and annoyed that the customers...
