This has been a hometown favorite. The food is homemade daily and is a typical greasy spoon. Portions are big and made with love. Family members make sure to always stop in when they come home for this hometown icon.

I had a craving for a Haddock Sandwich upon arriving in syracuse and after reading reviews on various sites and it being really close to my hotel I decided to give it a shot after reading good reviews, which are mostly by local folks..after all, how can you screw up a Haddock sandwich?...they showed me how.. 1st: bland as in... Great food, great prices even better people. You get a whole lot for your money. This is the best little diner. Georgia rocks every time we see her. She makes the best burgers.

It is hard to review this place since there are so many extremes. If you drive up to the restaurant you would think it a derelict building. The parking lot is a bunch of holes in mud. and the building has not been cleaned or painted in many years. Walking inside does not do much to raise your hopes. It... More

This is definitely a local place. Quick service. Fish was good - plenty of it. Nice cole slaw and tasty fries. Nothing fancy, but good.

but only wound up liking it at best. We've driven by this dusty looking restaurant several times recently and decided to try out the "best fish in Syracuse" as advertised by a sign in the window. The servings of fried fish, fries and coleslaw were huge especially considering the more than fair price. However, my fries were totally oil-logged and... More

We had recently returned from England so maybe should not have gone for fish and chips so soon after getting back. The haddock was nicely cooked, the chips too. There was a very large portion of chips but they were cut quite thin and short which, in my opinion, is not the best way to have them. We were served... More

Looks like the locals go-to place for fried fish. Portions are huge. The fish is very fresh and the fries are very good. The coleslaw is vinegar based and excellent. Nothing on their menu is low calorie, but it's all very good. The place has been around forever and it looks like it, but who cares - the food is... More

I've been going to Jim's for over 30 years and will continue as long as they are in businesses. First of all ... the good stuff -- HADDOCK! I love this fish and love the way it's cooked here. Mind you, this is a FISH FRY so there is a calorie factor that cannot be removed. The fried fish is... More

From the second you walk into Jim's, you won't be overwhelmed by the ambience. On the contrary. Jim's could use a major facelift. In fact, it has that pool hall/ bowling alley feel; old vinyl chairs, a lack of menus, tacky (the kind your arms stick to) tables, and the finest Hefty foam plates available. But it is easy to...
