Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This place stands out for it’s ability to honor local culture from the friendly server Carolyn to the Amiable owner/chef Chrissy to the local art on the walls to the veggies and fruits served. Chrissy lovingly incorporates local produce enhancing her menu; homemade desserts including...peaches from her peach trees and rhubarb from her garden. Our meal began with a large garden salad, to share, consisting of crisp baby-greens, chickpeas, tomatoes cumber enhanced by a light balsamic/EVOO dressing and artisanal Italian bread. Chrissy and Carolyn worked as a team insuring that each patron was treated as an honored guest. While Chrissy worked efficiently in the back kitchen preparing each dish to order, Carolyn worked in the dining room doing everything from taking our meal orders to preparing our drinks; We especially enjoyed the local brew, Mothers Milk, creamy smooth yet full bodied. Beer, wine and cocktails were reasonably priced. Pictured below was my refreshing Sticks KISS made with vodka, lemon juice and mint. Prices were reasonable service was friendly and individualized, so be prepared for a leisurely meal for everything is prepared to the diners request. Chrissy came to our table inquiring what veggies I liked/did not as to meet my dining desires. Not only were they met, they were exceeded. My pasta primavera was delicious covered with fresh seasonal veggies enhanced by a light garlicky olive oil sauce.More

Five of us visited on a Friday night - Fish Night. Three of us had one of the evening's specials: flounder, and the other two had the other night's special: Cajun shrimp and grits. Both dishes were out-standing! One of us asked that the shrimp...and grits be prepared not-too-spicy and it was made exactly so. The waitress was super nice and very friendly! She brought out bottles of wine for us to choose from. We also had dessert which also was delicious. The chef came out to talk with us, and we were all very happy!More

Cute Adirondack-y styling. Friendly and polite service but a bit too familiar and much too slow. We arrived hungry with children - our planned picnic at Opus 40 having been rained out. Took many minutes to get a menu even though it was almost empty....After we ordered it was about 45 minutes before the food came. Much longer than I would have expected for salads, sandwiches and plain pasta with butter and cheese. They kindly brought some watermelon to distract hungry kiddos. Food was good but sadly not so exceptional that it would draw us back to this cute little place. I hope they can resolve the service/kitchen issues because it really is cute and the food was enjoyable if not spectacular.More

They had no meatloaf despite arriving an hour after their opening on now"Meatloaf Monday." We left after 80 minutes nursing our water. Not sure about the food, it never arrived.

This was a delicious evening in all ways: the drive, the arrival, the welcome and the meal (it was "Meatloaf Monday," which came, as it should, with a heap of terrific mashed potatoes), not to mention the similar delight of the friends enjoying it, served...homestyle, with me. Oh . . . and then there was the homegrown rhubarb sauce sundae! In The Sticks feels such a personal endeavor --- it was as if we were in a neighbor's excellent kitchen --- and my hope is that others will find their way there and then return, as I intend to.More

On a sunny Saturday, we called in the morning to ask In The Sticks about hours, pancakes, French toast and maple syrup. When we said we were coming in for brunch they said 'Great!' We went out of our way to get there (it really...IS in the sticks!), we were extremely hungry and we arrived at the restaurant around 1:00 after a tiring morning of local shopping. The entire place was empty, there were no customers - a little strange for a gorgeous Saturday during tourist season. When we inquired we were told brusquely that they have no brunch, that breakfast is over at noon and that we could have lunch instead. We looked at the menu which is filled with unappetizing meaty, fatty sandwiches and we left feeling very disappointed and misled. The only vaguely healthy looking dish is zucchini. Not very inspiring, to say the least! Why didn't they make any of this breakfast and lunch timing clear before we brought our appetites in to eat something for brunch? We had intended to eat there and then recommend the place to our AirBnB guests. We will NOT be doing that after our bad experience!More

I visited Saugerties, New York to pick up an old tool for my shop. Sunny weather, the tool is just what I wanted, and then I found In the Sticks restaurant - the perfect place for lunch. The owner, Chrissy, cooked me a fabulous London...broil sandwich with grilled onions and homemade coleslaw. Delicious and hand made - she even gave me the trimmings from the steak to take home to the dog! Fresh hyacinths blooming in the pot on the counter in front of me. Attention to every interior detail - the place has been thought through in every detail. Homemade cakes and muffins, a big selection of sandwiches, Friday night seafood, and the nicest people working here. They have a small market, too, with fresh foods and essentials. In the Sticks is at the foot of the mountain on Platte Cove Road - a steep mountain road to rival any paved road that I have driven on in California or the intermountain west. Overall, a great place that I know anyone would enjoy!More

You will truly feel like one of the family at this warm inviting place. Chrissie is an excellent cook...you can order any of her dishes off her menus or any of her daily specials or she will try to accommodate you and cook a delicious...dish just for you. The place is beautiful and comfortable. She also bakes her own cakes and pies daily using seasonal ingredients. This cafe/store is wheelchair accessible and there is a dog friendly area on her deck. A real find in West Saugerties!More

My friends and I went here for lunch yesterday and it was great! The place is immaculate, including the bathroom. The wood furnishings are beautiful and the food done with care and to order. Two of us had hand packed cheeseburgers and two had the...chicken, spinach and garlic sandwiches. They were all delicious. Everything comes with your choice of pasta salad, potato salad or something I can't remember. However, if you're a chips person, they sell them in their small market housed in the same building. The Limoncello cake was delicious and refreshing. The waiter needs a little more training but has a great personality. The owner and chef, Chrissy, is a delight.More
