John's is small, but I've never had to wait long for a table. The food is simple but fresh and delicious. I had a beef burrito and it was extremely generous. It could easily feed two light eaters or kids. I did manage to finish it! The service is friendly and quick. You won't be disappointed.

Two Mexican restaurants in the South Wedge. I think this is better than La Casa, but both have damn good food. John's is small but you can take food to go which is what I do. Burritos are huge and the chips and guacamole are always good.

My first time here. We had a party of 4 and went early to miss the crowd. The place is really small with only a few tables. The nachos were really good. The prices are reasonable. I would go back for sure.. the neighborhood can be sketchy. I don't know if I would return after dark.

My son and I are from Texas and needed a "fix." We entered with fear and trepidation, but came out full and happy for a very reasonable price. Generous portions, well-seasoned, the right kind of spicy, and they have 5 different Mexican beers. Excellent service! Tiny place so go in the off-hours if you can or order takeout. My only... More

It was a snowy afternoon and the place was wall to wall. The drinks were served quickly and the food came soon, too. We had beef and bean burritos. Solid. The noise level was high, so I wouldn't return unless it was al fresco weather.

My family and I stopped in for lunch. The location was easy to find and had convenient parking on the adjacent street. The place is fairly small with seating inside and outside. The server was friendly and very attentive. The food portions were very generous. Many of the items are offered in the "medium" spicy range. The guacamole, salsa and... More

This place is awesome and the best value for your buck. I have never been disappointed except for on Cinco de Mayo when they ran out of food. The Mexican plate is an appetizer but feeds two people easily for dinner. Even the drinks are reasonably priced, unlike at every other place in Rochester. A total gem.

Took the kids (3 teens) on a road trip from Michigan to Boston, to Quebec City and back. Stayed in Rochester on the way. We had many wonderful meals on the trip but John's was the favorite! They insisted on returning on the way back through. Food was well prepared and fresh, cute setting, and quite honestly as parents to... More
