Had an early dinner with my wife. Though her fish fry was a tad greasy, my Cuban sandwich was wonderful! Local brew choices are plentiful! Comfortable atmosphere.

We went with friends at their suggestion. I found the food to be quite greasy and the flavors to be a bit off. I may try again as they said they usually get really good food and maybe it was an off night.

My husband and friend ordered the fish n chips. It was a big piece of grey fish. Mushy! The coleslaw tasted old. The black bean burger was also disappointing. Brussel sprouts were so under cooked that you couldn’t even stab with the fork. It was...More

Visited on a very cold evening. Ordered their shepherds pie and an excellent IPA. Others ordered their vegan dishes. The food arrived quickly, was hot and very tasty. Highly recommend this restaurant for both food and craft beer.

Great tavern food complimented by the best assortment of local and imported craft beers. Service was excellent and servers were knowledgeable about the different types of beers. The tavern ambiance is noteworthy.

Went just tonight with another couple, we had pretzels and fried pickles for apps (very good) and I got the fish n chips. First, I loved that the fish had no skin left on, and that batter was delicious. Fries were very good. Never even...More

Quaint little place in a cool neighbourhood. Sat the bar and had some great deep fried pickles. Tap list was great, although I was a little disappointed they didn't offer flights. I would have liked to sample a few others.

The Tap & Mallet is owned by Joe McBane and Casey Walpert. Joe is from England, and has lived in the United States since 2000. He managed The Old Toad for the first 7 years he was in the country. Casey opened The Bug Jar on Monroe Avenue and currently owns Mex on Alexander Street. We aim to be the best destination in Rochester for beer and pub food. We believe that having the best beer requires a balance between freshness and selection. We chose to limit our draft lines to 30 with the addition of 1 cask ale so that a fresh glass of beer can be guaranteed every time. The majority of our lines rotate so that there is always something new to try. Our inspiration for the menu comes from a love for food prepared from top quality fresh ingredients. Whether our guest wants dinner or just a snack they should always expect a range of flavors from around the world at an affordable price. The atmosphere is that of a contemporary pub. It is comfortable and welcoming to all. There is soft lighting and music that doesn't overwhelm. We want people to feel relaxed and at home. While we specialize in fine beers we understand that drinking beer is a truly enjoyable social past time. No one should ever feel bad about their choice of drink due to an elitist attitude. Many of our guests are interested in exploring new flavors and we are there to help and encourage them with their selections.
